Personally I was banking on a reasonably-ish priced hotel(preferably with a good bar) :)
good girl, bring your oils and whips! :DQuote:

Do ye want to play on Grass or a full sized astro. I have contacts with two schoolboy teams and could probably get a pitch

So BGF it looks like they are serious about coming
I was thinking of Sportslink in Santry or ALSAA (Aer Lingus Sports) complex near the airport. The advantages of both of these is that they have good pitches, good changing facilities (showers etc..) and good medical facilities for the physio
In addition they have function rooms which could be used for a pi$$ up afterwards (avoids having to go elsewhere and break up the atmosphere). It's close to the airport, the M50 and there is a travelodge hotel in Swords, not far from either venue and close to the airport which do rooms from around €69 :D a night - this could be handy for the exiles or country cousins travelling. There is also a new Tulip hotel nearby which has recently opened.
After almost 700 odd posts, I would fcuking hope so!!!!!Quote:

So is it the sportslink or ALSAA then?. Do you need to book it? If so, who's gonna arrange that?
I'll make enquiries about both and post the details here. People could then decide if they want to go ahead on the basis of that or it could take a decision by the (very absent in recent days:rolleyes: ) Manager  :DQuote:

Haven't signed up as the legs wouldn't last and also the binoculars would still be required.Quote:

Well I hope you still go and watch us. The manager will have to buy you a drink afterwards for all the hard work you've done and the lack of work she did:mad::D.Quote:

I'm waiting for Sportslink to get back to me and when I have word I'll post it here.
Given that the Manager is in the country  maybe she could check out the venue :D

I explained to him the nature of what was to happen  and that we were members from far and wide (including Co. Down) and that there was no organised way about how and who would organise the day and get payment for the venue(s)
He said that they have both all weather and grass pitches and that they are available on 8th April next. He said that the cost of the grass pitch would be €75 with the all weather costing €100. This would give full access to the changing facilities etc.
He said that they would have a room which could cater for 80 - 100 people or if there was less than that they could reserve an area of the public bar. They could do finger food trays at about €4 a head or individual baskets of cocktail sausages, chips, wedges etc. at a cost of €6 a head. They could also do soup and sambos but he didn't have a price for this.
I said I'd put it out there for everyone to see and would get back to him by mid February. I took the liberty, but with no committment to a deposit or payment, of provisionally booking it for the 8th April next.
If there is to be a cost for the pitch and grub how will it be paid for ?; is it fair to expect the players and any supporters on the day to pay for it ?
I'm putting it out there to you all and await your posts. :ball:
Grass!!! We'll all pitch in (get it???)
Cheers Aido.
I'd prefer the all-weather, you never know what April'll be like. I'd say it breaks down at around €7 a person. That's not bad. I think it's only fair we (the home team) pay for the facilities.
i wudnt mind playing at dayler if that was still an option :)
otherwise all good with the all weather pitch
