100% it was a great touch and he flicks it to a dangerous area, but it takes a couple of deflections and it couldn't be classed as an actual pass. Took the goal brilliantly though and the fact his touch is so good is the sign of a confident player.

each of his league goals this season has been lovely.
He is the only player that it doesn't bother me that he is playing third tier football. My gut tells me when he is scoring he will score against any team in the world. Re service to him it depends on the formation kenny goes with. He is a much better player the Idah tbh
I see what you're saying. I think Idah still has plenty to learn about being a top class forward but Parrott is more talented and instinctive and is more ready for the here and now as a consequence.
I dont get the jammy comments on that assist. He controlled the ball and immediately got the ball into dangerous area. He might have specifically known that it would got to another Dons player but he did exactly what he tried to do. Jammy would be if he missed controlled it and could have gone anywhere off his shin. To me it showed good composure and awareness.
I think he got a bit lucky that it deflected right into the path of a teammate. But it was a nice first touch, and if you keep trying forward passes in that position, you'll get lucky more often than if you don't
But is it luck if the ball goes into the area that you played it?
Well it didn't really - it took a deflection.
But I do think the more you try those passes, the luckier you get
I think Idah is less likely to score, but he looked to have grown into that lone forward role in the last international window. He looked bigger and stronger than previously, though some of that may have been confidence.
Parrott is more exciting, but I need to see more of him. I don't like to read too much into a couple of goals. He was poor enough last year at a low enough level to make me cautious.
I wouldn't wholly disagree but the expectation levels between fans of MK Dons and our national team should be different. A League 1 team having a teenager showing a bit of form at that level might provoke giddiness for MK Dons supporters but, as Ireland fans, I'd say guarded optimism is more where I'm landing at the moment.
People (in general, not you specifically) seem particularly entrenched on Parrott. One camp wants to annoint him our next world class talent and to focus on a handful of Spurs underage games, 3 games for MK Dons and the Andorra match. They refuse to look closely at the Milwall or Ipswich loans.
The other camp have him earmarked as Anthony Stokes MkII and reverse it. Will only focus on the Milwall/Ipswich loans and disregard the flashes of potential.
I think those two camps are just the loudest camps and prevalent somewhere like YBIG. He's gifted, has struggled and is now showing his gifts at a relatively low level. A lot to do.
I'm strictly in the he is a confidence player camp. I believe if he scored a few in a row with either millwall and Ipswich he would have banged them in consistently.
Parrott's still a teenager. I think we're so desperate for a breakout star - a saviour - that we put a bit too much, if not pressure then expectation, on his young shoulders.
Troy gets criticised for the company he keeps, especially on another forum, but I'm not sure we can fairly question his application and attitude - he's an excellent trainer and was praised for his efforts by Rowett at Millwall and Lambert and Cook at Ipswich, and has clearly won over the MK coaching staff as well.
The comments he made at the end of last season showed a modest and driven young man who's keen to have a very good career in the game, and this season it looks like he means business at a well chosen club that plays good football and will allow Troy to flourish.
I'm very positive about his career prospects.
I'm positive too, but if he is hanging around with cartel associates. That isnt good news for anyone. They are a complete cancer on our society
Regarding your first paragraph above, i think we are more or less saying the same thing. A 19 year old scoring goals is exciting for us though. Remember Grealish tearing it up in League One (wasnt it?). Couldnt stay in my seat... im not quite as giddy with Parrott given how he didnt fare as well last year but, still like, he's 19 and scoring goals. Either way, i am more or less sitting back and waiting to see how the next 9 months pans out before getting too giddy.
I think Parrott is more Patrick Bamford than Robbie Keane. He will probably be a good Premiership striker eventually but hes not the wonderkid we thought he was going to be initially
Couldn't get the better of Bazunu yesterday but did play a lovely 30 yard through pass to set up the MK Dons winner - at 1:30 in the clip.

Goal for Parrott from the spot today and sounds like a good showing too.
Quote:
…At the other end Parrott fired narrowly off target from the edge of the box.
Just before the half-hour mark Dons striker Scott Twine forced David Stockdale into an agile stop.
The Dons went ahead five minutes before half-time after Stewart was shown a straight red card for upending the onrushing Parrott in the box. Parrott hauled himself off the deck to coolly slot the resulting penalty past Stockdale, giving the Dons the lead just before the interval.
Twine almost doubled the Dons' lead soon after the restart, while Stockdale was smartly down to keep another Parrott effort at bay.
MK Dons is turning into a good move for him and it's easy to see why when you look at the style of football they try and play compared to Ipswich who were basically the Millwall of League One.
Credited with an assist against Fleetwood today: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/58633781
Yeah got the assist for the second goal but his build up play in the first goal was much better. Though Twine was the star of the show with one of the best hat tricks I've seen scored.
Agreed, lovely cross field switch for the first.

MK Dons fans love him. Their only critisim is he drops deep too often and doesn't get into the box more. Especially when Eisa and Watters were out injured the last couple of games. He'd still drop deep when he was their main striker.
Dropped for today's game against Wigan; came on as a late sub. First time he'd been relegated to the bench. Don't know was it tactical or what. 3 goals from 11 games isn't a great return, but it's not disastrous either.
Mk Dons went 3-4-3. Might be 3 goals but has 4 assists too as well as being influential in goals without the assist. Parrotts not an out and out striker, he's more a ten who'll link up play.
Great point JR89. Three goals and four assists in 11 matches would be considered exceptional in many leagues.
Scored in MK Dons' 4-2 defeat to Aston Villa's U21s in the EFL Trophy tonight: https://www.mkdons.com/news/2021/oct...--aston-villa/
Was this their weaker side put out? Nice involvement in the build up and nice finish. That's his best position for scoring just coming in from outside the box.
Yeah MK Dons put their weaker side out for this cup competition with the odd league starter in the starting XI. Their bench was packed with regular starters though, five of the seven.
It's probably going to be Parrotts best position in the long term playing behind the striker in that number 10 role. He's not an out and out center forward and if you were to play him there you'd need two wide players that are going to come inside and push ahead of him looking for the ball as he's always going to drop off towards midfield.
Agree he's not an out and out striker as his natural tendency is to drift (deep). But good involvement and finish for the first goal and nice back heel pass in the build-up to his team's second goal.
Handed his first start in a month last night in the EFL trophy, and was sent off on 90 minutes for a headbutt (how severe or slight of one, I don't know)
Doubly disappointing given he hasn't started a league game in seven weeks now - in fact, has only played 30 minutes in the league in that time. After a good start to the season, I think he needs a change of form to be considered for the March squads tbh.
His present trajectory is not looking good. Of course it’s in no way too late for that to change.
On actual ability it looks like he lacks that yard of pace to make it at the top level unless you have extra exceptional ability otherwise. I always point to Teddy Sheringham as a player that got the most out of his abilities without that extra yard of pace = An example to any player with-out that pace. I would also point out that Teddy Sheringham was very good in the air ( something that never hurts ) and really clever player on the ground ~ passing and all round play. sheringham is a player that should be studied assidiously by all players that lack a bit of pace. What a career he knocked out of his actually abilities.
