I thought Shiels did well in his limited game time at Dundalk in 2016. He didn't look out of place in a very good good team.
It's exatly the sort of signing Derry need. Good player, experienced head and Derry will be that bit less brittle when going a goal down as he doesnt shy away in adversity!
Garvan's left Pats according to their Facebook there now, bit of a strange one unless he's moving back across the water/ fell out with Bucko or something?
find this part a bit strange but think i am in the minority..... his game time since he joined has been poor to say the least. He is also one of the most immobile players I have seen in the centre of the park. My only concern with him leaving is how much we wasted this year and if we had to pay him off at all.
Micheal Schlingermann is now available after leaving Sligo Rovers, decent keeper and highly rated, heard Cork City were interested early on in the close season.
Damien Delaney signs for Cork!
Has anybody else seen the AS Roma English twitter feed announce the Delaney signing? If you scroll down, there is mention of him saving the son of a Roma directer from a serious accident in London some time. The same account also tweeted Grazie Damien when he left Crystal Palace.
No idea if it is a genuine twitter account, although it does have the 'verified' tick beside it.

We now have the option to field the youngest (McCarthy and McLoughlin; combined age of 41) and the oldest (Bennett and Delaney; combined age of 73 as of July 20th) centre half pairing in the league.
Akinade and Hery sign contract extensions till the end of 2019. Hery is signing a new deal is huge for the club fantastic player.

Preston North End Complete Signing Of Shamrock Rovers’ Graham Burke
....and Mikey Drennan signs for Sligo Rovers.......welcome back lad.
Been too busy to post here recently but couldn't help myself from coming to say I'm delighted for Mikey, loved him at rovers and it's great to see him back in the game no matter the club
350k + add ons for Burke according to the mirror still looks like a great deal for Preston but at least it's not daylight robbery like some of the UK clubs have done in the past. Hopefully we find a replacement soon.
That's a decent deal for Rovers too i think. I can't see Preston working for Burke, but best of luck to him.
Question now is can they make Europe without him!
Brandon kavanagh looks the real deal and played in burkes position. Would assume we will add to squad.
I reckon Sean kavanagh could play there as well but yeah we need to get someone else in as well
I actually like miele in that free roam position, b kavanagh looks good in it but don't want to put too much pressure on a 17 year old, there's finner too that can play there
Yeah I like brando there too. I suppose between him either of the kavanaghs and Finn we have cover. Still would expect us to bring in a couple for July.
That's very good news - remember about five years ago we had what looked like a mini-wave of attacking talent coming through with Drennan, Burke, O'Brien, Maguire and Mason. Then 18 months to two years ago, it was looking like their careers might never reach a high level. And now Maguire and Burke have caps under their belt and are at an ambitious Championship club; O'Brien is back in the Championship with Millwall; and Mason is second-top scorer for Colorado with... er... two. And IIRC, Drennan was considered to be possibly the best scorer between them when they were younger, so if he can achieve his potential, we could be well sorted for strikers from this group alone. But I guess, given his situation he should take it one step at a time. So I hope he scores a few for Sligo, as long as the ones against Cork City are merely consolations
Faysel Kasmi leaves Waterford to go back to Belgium. He's signed for Beerschot Wilrijk. He wasn't great anyway apart from one very good game v Bray Wanderers at home.
Tobi Adebayo-Rowling has left City and signed for Bromley FC.
John Cofie, the ex-Man Utd player and the youngest player ever to move for £1m, has left Derry by mutual consent.
Presumably he was just crap?
Why could bray play Harding and Walsh but Sligo said that Drennan isn’t available until 01.7, aren’t they coming from the same league?
Athlone let ten players go and sign three - including Baba Issaka, which is a hell of a blast from the past.
Can't be many former Kilkenny City players in the league these days.
Mulcahy?
His first club as a young right back
Kenny Browne was a striker with City so I wonder if his nickname has any link to Sky's Dream Team
According to http://pfai.ie/transfer-window, amateurs that are free after their season can transfer from 1 June. That would explain why the two lads can play for Bray, but doesn't explain why Drennan can't play for Sligo yet.
