Good initiative for what should be a big crowd.
Hopefully it does well.
When King Eric's in town to give one of his meet and greet talks, he agreed to give Kerry FC a plug!

Haha! A keen eyed poster noted the jersey was of an outfield player and chose to believe it was Bohs scoring into an open goal after Pohls went walkabout! :D
True, I'd be surprised if McGinty doesn't start but stranger things and all that. Sure Richie Towell is now playing for Lucan United! :D
Kerry FC have announced that they have surpassed the season ticket sales record from 2024. Haven't seen figures but sounds positive year on year.
The one thing we know from last year is that attendances were steady from Feb to April, slumped from then to August, and picked up again afterwards for a while - the lowest figures were 4-500, so if we assume that they represent the hardcore supporters, then 350-400 STs seems a reasonable estimate for 2024, so add another 50-100 onto that for this year.
I think most clubs have a dip in attendances during the summer. Good to see interest in Kerry is growing, I thought the good crowds ye were getting initially was just because of the novelty factor.
A new 4 year TV deal, a new 30 game radio deal, a big Dublin derby league game in the Aviva, the first million euro LOI transfer fee and now LOI Fantasy Football!
Greatest League in the World or what!
Kerry have announced a free supporters bus for every away game this season:
https://kerryfc.com/kerry-football-c...B7vrSuuNTocHeA
There's a local bus company that organises transport for the Kerry GAA supporters club, but they certainly don't do it for free!
Is this a first in world football cos I've never heard of it before
Unusual, but by no means unique. Stoke City have been supplying free coaches to all supporters going to away games for years now, thanks to the generosity of their owners (Coates family, absolutely loaded). Also haven't increased their ticket prices at the 365 for something like 13 years. Moind you, you'd need an incentive to watch Stoke, home or away!
But fair play to Kerry - maybe O'Doherty should do the same for DCFC at the other end of the island?
Fair play to the club. Clearly staying and building a strong relationship with the community and in a way, a reward for all the fans who have travelled to games and with only 1 win in 2 seasons on the road, its great appreciation shown to the fans.
Massive wedge, I believe around 100 grand raised for med aid Palestine in Gaza , from the percentage of the Bohs third kit. Sales must have been massive.
Bray announce partnership with Next Level Soccer of Phoenix, Arizona. Sounds like an Athlone-Valeo style thing

Christy Moore played a tribute concert in Sligo for the late Tommie Gorman. They were good pals. Proceeds to the Showgrounds redevelopment fund, which Tommie was a massive contributor. Great night with some local musicians joining in.
Wasn’t sure which thread to put this in but The Athletic have published a very good article on young Irish players and academies etc

An incredible league we have

Links broken, 2YC.
It was bizzare, he put up the UK number that was supposedly Rovers wanting people to flood the number. The comments unsurprisingly for X were equally strange. The usual comments on potatoes and on being sure the calls werent bomb threats. Some sleuths seemed to identify the prankster and doxxed him with photos. It wouldnt have been totally outrageous for Rovers to have been sussing out an exotic signing like this mind!

Really good open and honest interview with Paddy Kirk here
https://www.thesun.ie/sport/15109838...dubstreetcafe/
Didn't think he had a good season last year but I'm still surprised he didn't have many if any offers on the table.
Looking at this year's squads and their standing last year, I would have thought Cork, Waterford, Sligo and Drogheda all could have used him at LB but maybe he didn't fancy leaving Dublin with the photography going so well for him.
However, the strangest decision for me was that Bohs decided to let him go without another LB signed, replacing him with a 19yo loanee and a left-footed CM.
I appreciate that view and it might simply be a case of "how flexible do you want your manager to be in his vision" but considering the lack of options in that position I thought they'd have kept Kirk as a backup.
I also feel Flores doesn't have the speed to get back into position from midfield so was already surprised they didn't get an upgrade in the winter.
Brilliant in depth article on the Pats academy. Reading about all the detail and professionalism shown by the club really shows how utterly laughable the FAI’s proposal was to take the best players away from clubs to give them coaching together, even more so the fact that the ye didn’t even contact the clubs before revealing it.
https://www.irishtimes.com/sport/soc...-have-arrived/
One of the most interesting stats there being that average contact coaching hours is 230 mins a week at LOI U15 and U17 levels, while Pats are providing 450 mins at U15 and 705 mins at U17 level. Still a way to go to match the minutes provided at English Cat 3 (720 mins) and Cat 2 (885 mins) level academies, but that’s the whole point of why the club and others around the country are looking for government funding

It’s unfortunate the kids couldn’t behave themselves in what otherwise would have shone a positive light on the league.
Question for Sligo fans, there was a small element of absolute tools following the club around ten years ago, their main "ring leader" wasn't the full shilling at all, used to be messaging other clubs fans trying to arrange scraps, is he and that band of little twerps involved with these kind of scenes or did they grow up or eventually get banned or what? Found it incredible that for years Sligo didn't appear to do anything with this individual and group of clowns despite the fact they were well known for causing trouble
Although those 2 GardaĂ moved pretty quick, maybe even a record for policing at LoI, and stopped the direct confrontation, and then fans became the usual thowing shapes and line dancing at each other before the additional GardaĂ arrived. Wasnt it Sligo lads in Derry that there was footage of random attack from nothing, ame crowd? Galways fans werent shy firing a few flares back either so not totally 'ambushed'.
