How many people do you follow on that thing? Do you get "twits" waking you up at 4.am when the phone buzzes?

200, but I'd say only about 15-20 of them update with any regularity
I don't follow that guy, Ken Early mentioned it.
I don't use twitter on my phone, I use the firefox add-on because I usually have that open when I'm on my laptop
Its hard to tell but chances for 2nd choice keepers dont come around that often so its not that unusual that he hasnt featured much, coupled with the fact Im sure things like getting him cup tied might have been in City's mind if there was a chance he might be allowed to leave in January. As I said in the original post another few more games at this level of performance for Hart or indeed an injury and Shay has his opportunity.
A Manchester City goalkeeper, David Gonzalez, has gone on loan until the end of the season to Leeds. If he was third choice there wasn't much hope of Shay going any place :(
Sloppy work by Hart last night. Timid and hesitant coming for a low ball across his 6 yard box. Led to a goal I think but memory is hazy - I'd had a few pints!
Definitely his fault, had a terrible game, confidence seems to be low. From the telegraph match report....
Manchester City now trail Manchester United by eight points: the title has all but slipped away.
On this evidence, it is doubtful they would deserve it anyway. Carlos Tevez got them off to the perfect start, but non-stop Birmingham pressure proved too much. Nikola Zigic equalised, and then Craig Gardner's penalty cancelled out Alexandar Kolarov's free-kick.
Micah Richards fell victim to his own bravery as he defended his area, while the less said about Joe Hart, the better. The goalkeeper's nerves were clearly contagious where his defenders were concerned.

always worth a look at fans of the team think.
Was cited as a Winner in the Winners & Loosers section of F365 today (Not there now Strangely enough!!)... Due a run!! The CL spot is at stake!!
Somewhat, yeah. Not sure what it has to do with Shay Given though.
Doesn't look like Mancini has any intention of dropping Hart:

"I am happy though. I will not change because Joe Hart is the best goalkeeper."
Mancini has also played down any suggestion that Hart could be dropped for City's home date with West Brom on Saturday.
Pressed on whether he would consider drafting the more experienced Shay Given back into the fold, Mancini simply replied: "No."
Yesterday's Mirror mentioned Wayne Hennessey is being looked at by City. Probably just a made up story, but I feel Shay's future is away from City. If no Premier team is interested he really needs to think of going abroad. I know it is stating the bleeding obvious, but his non movement in January remains the biggest disappointment of the transfer window.
Hennessey was beaten at his near post today. I don't think he's half the goalkeeper Hart was at his age. Or Shay for that matter.
edit: Hart is actually younger than Hennessey
BBC gossip column last week attributed a story to caughtoffside.com that Arsenal will pay City £7 million for Shay in the summer. I'll try and find the link later.

Arsenal will step up their attempts to finally end their long-running search for a goalkeeper by signing Manchester City shot-stopper Shay Given at the end of the season.
Republic of Ireland international Given has not featured at all for City in the Premier League this campaign and has grown tired on providing back-up to first-choice Joe Hart, who replaced Given between the sticks at the City of Manchester stadium at the beginning of this season.
And, given the outstanding form of the England No 1 so far, Given now knows that he has no future under City manager Roberto Mancini, leading the 34 year old to seek a move away from the club during last month’s transfer window.
Mancini, though, refused to sanction such a move, although he has told Given that come the summer he will be allowed to reignite his stalled career with another top-flight club, and Arsenal will need to pay £7 million to secure his services.
Really? I'd have thought Mancini's decision to stick with Hart despite a few bad blunders would let Given know he has no future under Mancini. If Hart had been outstanding so far, Given could still hope that he'd be dropped after a mistake or 3, but he doesn't even have that hope left.
i am so sick of him
look at me, i am so great i am such a professional i am mister ireland, i'm great me......
ah get lost
If McCarthy is not available he is not available, he doest need you giving him stick in public
why does he have to play every single game. We need our sub keepers to get game time too. but this media darling is on a one man selfish crusade to break the caps record on his own.
So you reckon Coventry City #1 Kieren Westwood is more in need of game time than rarely-used Manchester City substitute Shay Given? Interesting.
Huge game for Given tonight. Has not looked good in our last two games and needs a good performance tonight. I've seen Westwood a few times this year and some very good but the odd error as well so by no means a certainty to unseat Given.
Look i know i am hot headed and say things that irk a lot of lads on here, i hold my hands up on that one. i type in rage more often than in peace. But Christ, Given gets an easy ride from the Irish Media and in here.....
Yes he was a world class Keeper, yes he has been a superb servant for us and is by a mile the best keeper we ever had...
BUT
He doesnt half love to hear how great he is! And tell us how great he is..... whatever about currently, go back 12 months ago and prior to that. Would he let a sub keeper in for necessary game time? Would he ****! Sure Deano said as much many many times. Whats the point in me coming back when Shay wont even dream of budging even for meaningless friendlies! Keano was spot on about Shay.
Great keeper yes.......selfish, egotistical OTT mr nice guy.......yes
Andn re the JMc comments, he may not have asked to be asked, but he simmply could have said "i dont know the ins and outs so i wont comment on that" instead of his "I am Shay Given, I am so dedicated, I am so Irish me, so I am, adore me, adore me...."
Do me a favour....
why should shay step aside, if i was playing for ireland i would want to play every game aswell even if i had 200 caps. now i know its not ideal him not playing at city but like keano hes paid his dues over the years and should be given a bit of lee-way.
Duggie just cos we "owe" shay, should he dictate who plays in goals for personal gain even if its detrimental to the team as a whole as it was for the last 5 years?
An ignore function you say? emmm.....
POS u dont think it would have been better for the team to have played a sub keeper in friendly games no? Deano walked cos of it remember???!!! Why does shay need to play meaningless friendlies when we know exactly what he is all about.........at the moment is different as he is dropped, but when he was playing for Newcastle, why did he have to play EVERY game........we all know why
prob for the best that he played really...what use really is there for a secondary goalkeeper...its not like hes ever been injured for any long spells. we just have to hope a young keeper will emerge when shays time is up
I believe that Westwood should have got a half tonight. If Given had an injury will Westwood have enough international experience.
Given willing to help Hart:

Fcuk all use to us that is.
Didnt play last night, hadnt he played most of their EL games to date?
Given's next competitive game is very likely to be the Macedonia game and thats not good. Anyone who has played the game at any level knows the difference between playing practice games and then playing in a competive match. Nerves. No tolerance for mistakes from your own manager and team mates. An opposition which is clinically out to win and finding out the difference between match fitness and general fitness. I'd rather have Given playing in the championship than warming the bench at City.
the little that ive seen of given playing this season , he's looked shakey. he's been a our best performer over the last 10 years, always inspired confidence, just hasn't been the same watchin him this year he seems nervous and making a lot of small mistakes.
can't understand people giving out about a player wanting to play every match for his country, i wish they were all like that.
