Ok mate, you keep believing your right.
Our budget has been reduced this season. That is a fact. But hey, you know it all!
Oh I fully accept that Sligo will be working off a smaller budget than last season. It has to. In fact I'd say that the club is regreting signing Turner using the European money that isn't coming. As for Turner turning down more money from Sham Rovers to play with Sly Rovers, give us a break!!
No i don't know it all but i have the experience of being the fan of a club who was told "we're working off a reduced budget next season". Now that alone doesn't mean you're wrong and i'm right but i will say don't believe everything you're told by your club.
Now lets say you are right and you are working off a reduce budget, it still doesn't mean you are living within your means.
Personally, looking at the Sligo situation, i don't believe you've reduced your budget but thats just my opinion on it. We'll know who was right come the end of the season but you don't have to get so defensive about it :)
It's simple really.
Every player in the league would rather play for Shamrocks than anybody else.
Any player who chooses to sign for another team instead of Shamrock must be signing for them because he was offered more money. There is no other explanation for turning down Shamrock that could possibly make sense:confused:
Have Fingal released anyone or are they keeping everyone who won promotion?
you do know that a 2 year contract isnt more expensive than a 1 year? they still pay him the sae wages every week? if they are not stupid with money and can pay wages it is a good deal for sligo. their guranteing themselvel 2 years of his services or a season and a transfer fee? its a god buisness and footballing decision?
Sweet Jesus, let me break it down. I'll use even and lower numbers to make it easier on you.
Lets say we have a budget of 10,000 per week, we release:
Owen Morrison. -500/pw
Martin Camano. -500/pw
Joe Kendrick. -500/pw
Ger Rafter. - 500/pw
Rob Turner. -500/pw
So 2,500 is taken from the budget, now we have used 7,500 of our 10,000 budget. We sign Turner for 500/pw and now we have used 8,000 of our budget.
So now, read it slow, read it twice.
I know this probably sounds a bit mad, but in terms of budget, how much is made through gate, merchandise and sponsorships (and prizemoney) and how much is shovelled into the club by supporters and well-meaning businesspeople? This isn't just in relation to Sligo, it comes from a conversation I had many moons ago in Benny Bradys regarding such matters. At the time the co-op were trying to put Dundalk right and one of the former head people (a certain travel agent) told me in no uncertain terms that annually he put in around £100,000 punts to keep things afloat, and this was off the books or at best "loans".
you picked that one up quick now you could get that we are reducing our budget into your head,as you cant see to grasp when 5 people tell you that we are reducing our budget.did ye not sign players and make them take a wage cut s couple of weeks later??????????????????????
Will the two of ye calm down, ffs?
That was always my guess, that and the euro run, your board obviously never though the 'impossible' would happen that you would lose to Fingal#
Even if Turner wants to move to smaller club, if he got a better deal, so be it, and no hard feelings, Sligo - always a decent club in my view, great fans, seems to be well run. good luck next year.
# ps how could you possibly lose to them ?.............2009 fai cup winners will be a totally useless stat when they are not around in years to come.
Simple:
1) No Conor O' Grady meant no inspiration or battle in the midfield
2) We didn't look interested for much of the game, nor did the players bar Peers,Keane,Kelly,Blinkhorn,Doyle,Boco and Meenan.
3) Fingal took advantage of that, *with the help of a penalty that should never have been
* I hope this dosen't spark another debate over wheter it was or not :o
I posted this thinking people would have have their sarcasm indicator turned on. Well done Sligoman & Reitoir. JUST PROOVES THE LEVELS OF IDIOCY ON THIS WEBSITE.
IT ALSO CONFIRMS HOW MANY IDIOTS POST ON THIS MESSAGEBOARD & LOKK FOR ANY REASON TO HAVE A GO AT BOHEMIAN FC.
FINALLY THIS THREAD WAS CREATED BY A MODERATOR & WHEN SAID MODERATOR STARTS MAKING UP COURT CASES JUST TO TRY & TAKE THE MORAL HIGH GROUND & POINT THE FINGER WHAT CAN YOU DO.
If Bohs fans who post on this MB complained about said moderator they would recieve a ban as they are not UCD/Rovers fans.
We had money problems around the 18k week budget level , we had relegation problems on a FAI enforced 10k a week budget , then got to a cup final and had title winning form on 12k a week so expect we should be operating around that level . Bulk of income comes via gate receipts which are fairly stable even when we were doing crap for the first half of last season . As mentioned by someone else a few big hitters have left leaving more in the wages pot , heard a rumour that we are getting another former player back for a lot less than he was on during his previous stint.
Aww did no one laugh at your joke? You've probably been checking all day to see how many "thanks" it got.
The reason people didn't laugh was because it wasn't funny. As well as sarcasm being the lowest form of wit, it's also the easist and you still couldn't do it well.
Also i made the same point about 20 minutes before you but it was deleted just after you posted because it was quoting "an unsubstantiated rumour" so you weren't even original.
I read in Saturdays Daily Mail that Staunton's Darlington have 2 esablished LOI players currently without a club on trial.
DARLINGTON have targetted two experienced players from Irish football, and the duo could join the club next month.
They have been playing in the League of Ireland, and will be available when the transfer window opens.
Darlington manager Steve Staunton said: “One of them is a striker and the other a central midfielder. And we are considering others as well. We need players who can hit the ground running.”

Anyways, Hairy Bowsie, I can understand where you are coming to a degree.
You can believe what you want, or think what you want, but what reasoning do you have behind this? If it all goes belly up mid way through the season I'll hold my hand's up to being wrong, but I genuinely don't think it will. We have a very capable board, with some extremley capable members on that board, which in the past, was not the case.
