I think Stan was playing CB while Cunningham was on the bench (injured?).
Kenny C wasn't a LB, was he? probably out of the 5 centre halves there, Stan would have been the likely LB deputy.
That's what I was trying to say. We did have a back up LB, he was just playing CB...
Harte was a lot more established than Ward too. Less need for direct cover.
Any truth in the rumour Mick asked Roy to cover at left back in training while Harte had a hangover?
Is that why harte went to his room?
Wolves now drawing 4-4 away at Swansea having conceded four goals in the first half hour. Madcap stuff. Doyle set up the first two goals for Fletcher and Jarvis.
I only saw the weekend's EPL highlights yestertday and Hunty looked like he was badly caught in possession (centrally - which is important to note as I've never felt he has the attributes to play there!) for Wigan's first. Pretty shoddy stuff.
If that had been Ward...
Ward, Forde, and Doyle start today for Wolves against Aldershot, McCarey and Hunt on the bench. Am interested to see if Forde will be first choice this season.
Watching Wolves play their first game of the season against Leeds, 67 minutes in and they are 1-0 down. Stephen Ward was at fault for the goal after he let Bechio get in behind him to score. Anthony Forde was subbed off at half time after an ineffective display, especially compared to how well Jarvis was doing on the other wing. Doyle has been pretty awful, one great chance that he missed, other than that, he hasn't contributed anything. Hunt on the bench.
Everton after Doyle and Ward? Not a chance in hell.

felliani and jelavic and the argentinian? Still a new challenge is definitely waht Doyle needs.
NO way will everton buy ward.
Said Doyle was going to go for 12 mill on radio
I see Fletcher is already well into the process of moving to Sunderland, does that not probably mean Doyle is staying where he is?
Ward is slightly more believeable, with Baines rumoured to be going to United they're going to need a new full back
He went to wolves for 9mill as far as I remember. can't see how his values gone up since.
Reports say Fletcher is going for £12m rising to £14m and Jarvis is going for £10m -£11m.
That's a good return on the transfers done under McCarthy, but that Jarvis value looks well overvalued.
In Doyle's poorest season with Wolves, he didn't score the goals obviously, but he made the assists and his general play was adequate, I don't know if he's that far behind Fletcher.
There was night and day between them and that goes for 2010/2011 season too. IMHO I've always thought Doyle is on borrowed time at EPL level. Might get a season or two up then back down. Put it this way he'll be with a club struggling to stay in the EPL. I think he's a great lad but that is his limit, when Irish pundits talk of him moving to Arsenal etc....just does him no favours.
doyle is a decent player, but too inconsistent to say (partly injuries parly form) whether he is good enough really for the EPL. His all round work for wolves last season was decent but a striker is there to score really. Fletcher has been involved with 2 Relegation teams in 3 seasons and his return is somewhere around 30 goals. Thats great form really, and at present he is certianly a far better prospect than doyle, at only 25 years of age. 12 million is probably somewhere about right. 10 million would be a very good price really, but he is the type of player that will suit sunderland, and the next couple of seasons will show how good a player he is, as Sunderland should be somewhere in the top 10 - i.e. not fighting relegation and providing far more scoring chances, he also gets lots of headers, which sunderland suits the likes of mcclean and johnson(if they get him).
Fletcher's price is £14m and for sure he's a goal scorer and that carries value above what Doyle had to offer last season, but Doyle has a wider variety to his football ability and as well he created assists for others to score. I'm not saying he's worth £14m but I'd have him in a flash ahead of £10.75m rated Jarvis.
Happy days for u so make up the spare room Id say Solbakken will drive doyle over himself tonight cause your the only one who will give wolves 10 million for doyle. What will you do with him?His attitide has been woeful for a year so if you get him to do your gardening id say you will need to keep an eye on him
I didn't say Doyle was worth 10m, I said I'd prefer him in a flash over the £10.75m rated Jarvis.
Just Ward and Doyle starting for Wolves today, with Foley on the bench, as they lead 2-0 at home to Leicester. Doyle has looked lively and gotten a few shots in but he still looks a yard slower than he was a couple of years ago, when really he should be at his peak. I think he may grab a third goal and settle the tie in the second half.
Shocking defending for the two goals. I bet the Doc is relieved he's on the bench today.
Wolves under severe pressure the whole second half and Leicester really should be at least level. Absolute HIT from Konchesky for their goal.
Well looks like Wolves and Doyle et al are down to League 1 after 1-2 home defeat to Burnley today....
Cue familiar image of Stephen Ward looking forlorn:

No chance of staying in the Championship now as Peterborough won their evening game
Shame as that club has a strong Irish past and present. I think Doyle will get a move from the club, probably to Celtic. Wouldnt be so confident for the likes of Ward or Foley and probably Hunt. That squad on paper is far too good to go down. Bet they wish they never got rid of Mick Mc now.
Remember when the push for Jamie O' Hara to declare for us ... how time flies!
I think Mick's time was finished with Wolves, just they should have let him see that season out unless they had somebody 'proper' to take over.
Of course Mick would have kept Wolves in the championship but the criticism of him would have been relentless. He has moved on and remarkably with a few more points could have had Ipswich in the play offs.
Wolves don't deserve to have Mick as a manager.
Mick absolutely nails it with those comments. It is an absolute travesty that such talented players have been relegated (well, almost) two seasons in a row and our Irish internationals will have to take a lot of the criticism given their position as senior players in the club. Hunt's injuries possibly absolve him. It seems a long time since young Matt Doherty made his Premier League debut at Anfield and Anthony Forde made his bow against Arsenal.
Any team that plays Stephen Ward deserves to be relegated from the Championship. The guy is a joke of a professional footballer.
Good god Colbert, will you not be satisfied until Stephen Ward is publicly executed in front of your eyes? He's a decent player.
define decent? as in Paul McShane decent?
Palace will still need to win to guarantee safety in the play offs so it's not over yet.
There's a 4 goal swing needed for a Wolves at least and of course Barnsley have to lose too.
I still think Wolves will be relegated. Good enough for them after the last 2 years of abject failure and appointing Saunders as coach.
He's not a decent player at left-back. It's understandable, to be fair, as he came through the ranks as a striker/left winger. He's a good athlete, and if he'd stayed in his natural position, he probably wouldn't have been any worse than, say, Keith Treacy or Daryl Murphy. He just doesn't have the instincts of an effective defender.
The Irish wolfhound has much better prospects than the Irish Wolves, many believe.
