They closed it out very well but I think they rode their luck far more than a team of their quality should. Some of their defending was atrocious.
I want to hate him but he makes it too difficult sometimes.

I am not sure. I think he just used it as an opportunity to give instructions to his players as to how to close out the last few minutes as for a team which has "no forwards", he had 3 on the pitch at the end. Mind you they almost conceded on a couple of occasions.
Is he being censured for leaving the coaching area? I saw the linesman watching him talking away in to the ears of one of the players and doing nothing about it.
You mean he forgot to tell Torres when he was coming on as a sub, what to do when Chelsea scored a second? or that he ran half the length of the pitch to remind Torres of something that he could just shout out or use the wolf whistle?
Now we are supposed to think that this victory was as a result of his substitutions and special whispered advice to players who are too dumb to remember what they were told to do 5 minutes before, that the whole victory was masterminded by the puppet master himself and when they féck up in a game. that's because they are useless.
8/1 Man U to win the match tonight isn't so bad.
Atletico 1-0 up within five minutes. Barca are all over the shop.
And within 60 seconds it's gone from 0-0 to 0-1 United and then 1-1 again!
United seemed to be unable to follow their game plan once they took the lead. Rooney had that amazing chance at 1-1. How different it could have been.
Funny how after Bayern equalised Guardiola stood still, whistled a player over to the dug out, issued instructions and just, well, stayed there. :)
I think I missed two really good games by flicking between the two and not really getting the best of either. I missed United's goal, only saw the replay of Mandukic's and missed all of Atletico's near misses and penalty claim. In short, I made a right balls of watching what was probably a great night's football.
The crowd action at both grounds was great though, and I was impressed by the Barcelona players' magnanimous reaction to defeat.
I watched the Madrid game and kept the Munich game on pause.
It was a superb game in Madrid with some brilliant defensive set up by the home team who held on in relative comfort for a thoroughly deserved win.
It was uncanny to see Ath M. defensive set up out do the the most attack minded team on the planet today with anticipation and sheer football skill.
Here's hoping the the 2 Spanish teams are kept separate in the semi final draw.
Rooney was fairly worthless all night. That was one of his worst ever ****-ups though. RTE blamed it on the pass too, but he had time to take a touch if he wanted.
I was shocked to hear Moyes accept they won't be in the champions league next season after the game. They are six behind Everton and have to play them Easter Sunday. Man U have three home games left against Sunderland, Norwich and Hull with Southampton away on the last day. Not impossible considering Everton have one or tricky ones like City at home and Souhthampton away. Sunderland away on Saturday could be tricky also.
So if Atletico draw Chelsea Thibault Courtois will only be allowed to play by Chelsea if Atletico stump up £5mm. The club says it can't afford it.

So, that's nearly £125 per fan assuming 40,000 fans. Atletico should hold a fundraising event. I'm sure half of Madrid and half of London (England) would stump up! Not to mention the player himself and his teammates!
geysir won't be happy with the result in Valencia.
His keeper did alright for him though, without him they could have been 5 or 6 down in normal time. Bundesliga bound next year... I wonder if geysir's love for Basel will still be strong after the boy called Sommer is gone.
Valencia were on fire from the get go, what a great attacking performance, does anyone know the name of the right winger who was whipping balls into the box all evening?
