Cheers for that! 4 hours on the train there'll be plenty of rounds :D

Also, as some fans I know wont make the decision to travel til very late. They may chose a different routing to Bari because of the lack of availabilty of the main routes.

Lads how often do the trains run from Rome to Bari?
The train we were looking at leaves Rome at 8am and gets into Bari at 12:15pm. I was looking at the Deutsche Bahn (German Train) website to see what the other train times are. There are other trains after but then youll be cutting it fine to get to the stadium in time for the match (latest possibility is 2pm train from Rome which will get you into Bari at 6:15pm). Trains back on the Thursday morning are at 5:35am (arrive Rome 10am) and at 7am (arrive Rome 11am). Of course there may be other trains running due to the match being on but as of yet I cant see anything regarding this.
One thing you need to look out for as there are two trains to Bari that leave Rome at 8am , one takes just over four hours the other nearer six .
Got a letter from FAI about tickets for the game today.
Anyone interested in playing a game against Italian fans for a local charity on Tuesday evening or Wednesday lunchtime pm me. Marco out of Joys Bar is interested in setting this up. He seems sound and is really looking forward to the weekend.
Got my letter about tickets.
Seeing as there not guaranteed would you advise booking flights as soon as possible or will I wait for ticket confirmation?
Always book flights first, tickets should be the last thing you ever worry about when it comes to away matches. Accomodation is going to be your hardest thing to find I rekcon. I usually go flights, hotel, tickets in that order and I think most experienced people would be the same.
Thanks lads.
Will book flights tomorrow. The closest hotel i can find is 40 mins away though!
EDIT: Make that 15km!:D

try checking them places
For those wishing to travel from Rome to Bari with the train on the day of the match I have checked with the rail company here and they said it will cost 88 euro return for 1 person. If you can get a group to travel together then itll work out a bit cheaper (not a lot though but still worth a couple of beers to you). I checked it out for us and it costs 238 euro each way for a group of 6.
If you book through Trenitalia.com online and choose the Amica rather than the standard ticket you can save 20%. One way 2nd class Rome to Bari is €33.40. You can choose the ticketless option where they will send you conformation and a booking reference by e-mail. Amica tickets have certain restrictions but are ideal if you are booking a specific train. A limited number of Amica tickets are on sale each day. You will first need need to register with Trenitalia. They will then issue a password which will allow you to make the booking.
Summary thread updated.
They have been requesting this for quite a while now.
AFAIK it is to comply with UEFA regulations.
Thanks for all your help lads!
I booked very cheap flights from Dublin Airport to Pisa and then from Pisa to Bari all with Ryanair and found a lovely hotel 15km from the ground.
Here's hoping I get the tickets now!:D
Anybody going to Bari via Frankfurt Hahn on the 31st has been screwed by Ryanair. The 7 hour wait in the delightful airport became a -30 minute turnaround when they moved both flights. My delight at reading the first e-mail turned to horror on seeing their 2nd one.
My only real option now is to go to Hahn on the Monday and spend 24 hours there. Hopefully I'll find a German 2nd or 3rd division game in the Frankfurt region on the 30th.
I was supposed to be flying from Dublin to Rome on Sunday 29th at 1230 and they changed the flight to 0655 which is a bit rough after a night out in Dublin after the Bulgaria match. Anyway because the flight change was more than a 2 hour difference I think they are obliged to offer a full refund...
"f you do not wish to accept your flight time change.
As your flight times have changed significantly (more than 2 hours before or after the original scheduled departure times), you may apply either for a Travel Credit for the unused flight sector(s) on your booking or a full refund of all monies paid."
also, the airports are quite away apart!

We got stung with that too. Flight change from 12.30pm to 6.55am. on the 29th of march. We are staying until saturday the 4th of april and our return flight was put back from 5pm until 9.30pm
We have cancelled our flights with ryanair and are getting a full refund. We have rebooked with Aer lingus and are travelling at a more civilised hour and the flights are cheaper too.:)
Has anyone not had to change their flights ?
Lads in Stuttgart and Brat I camped and it was grand. I'm a straggler for this trip (as usual) and as four walls and a roof looks hard to come by (i've been searching last couple of hours) does anyone intend to camp it cos I can't find a campsite located within Bari?
I have a few mates camper vanning it down from Rome. Anywhere to park the thing safely? Anyone been there before?
A cheapish B&B would do either.....
