NZ handed out the thrashing today that was always likely at some stage. Going to be hard to get motivated for the Aussies on friday.
I wonder will the coach rest players as Bangladesh looks only chance of a win...?

Jesus what a collapse !
The lads are trying their best and perhaps too hard. That was disappointing to see only Kevin O'Brien was the real positive from batting side.
Bowled well early on but ran out of steam in the last 10 overs. A similiar story to how they got on with the English team when Nixon and Bupara put a load of runs on the board. If they'd have kept NW to 220 or so I think they'd have a glimpse of hope. Austrailia is the game that frightens me most.....
Still not a humiliation though. Disappointed with Morgan so far. He has talent to burn but still hasn't got a decent score in the WC so far.
Forget about Australia: Bangladesh is the big one. It would be good if we avoided a total whitewash. I think we can beat them if we bat first and put up 200+. Not sure we can chase 200+.
Bangladesh look dangerous as well! England could have a wee problem with them if they underestimate them as much as they did with us. Like OwlsFan says we need to win the toss and bat first, I think the big scores other teams put on us mean the lads have to take greater risks to get the run rate flowing......but yesterday Bond and co deserved a lot of credit for the bowling variation. New Zealand are definitely going to worry and cause problems for a lot of teams.
On the whole I've been very proud of the lads out there, they are a credit to the sport and the country.
They've a sense of humour as well. Did you see the sub fielder bring a baby bat out to Niall O'Brien when he signalled the changing room he needed a change of bat :D ?
That was a good joke :D
Great score from South Africa, but last 10 overs of their innings, they hammered the Windies, to make the target really hard. But the Windies did well in responding, losing by 67 runs after South Africa put 350+, Great Effort.
England yet again, very un-impressive batting, they did really well to bowl out Bangladesh for 140ish. But they took their time in taking the victory one must say.
NZ & Sri Lanka, a possible a Semi-Final warm-up, should be a cracker of a game.
If Ireland beat Bangladesh could they win 6th on better run rate?
England are like their soccer team. Deeply unimpressive in WC finals yet somehow remain in with a shout until late on.
That's England ok. Even won the one day tournament in Australia having been hopeless for most of it.
Who knows.
Best we can hope for is 7th above Bangladesh.
NZ look to be struggling against Sri Lanka today.
40th over: NZ 154-6
Comfortable enough victory for Sri Lanks, always in control when batting.
Now, to the biggest game of the tournament do far:
Australia v Ireland
;)
Will we make it through the first powerplay:confused:
EDIT: Will we make it to 10 runs never mind overs?:(
Only 3-3 in the third over
Ouch :(
A boundary, great achievement, Kevin can tell the grandchildren that.
EDIT: He got another 4 !
Ahem !, 12-4
22-4 after Tait wanting to help the Irish run rate, lat over 5 Wd + 1 nb
oh dear..............is this the drubbing which will make everybody go on about how the Irish shouldnt be in the Super 8s?
34/5
I'll get these stats in now, just so Ireland fans can celebrate when the landmarks are passed:
Lowest score in a World Cup match: Canada's 36 v Sri Lanka 2002
Lowest score in a one-day international: Zimbabwe's 35 v Sri Lanka 2004
Shortest innings in one-dayers: Namibia's 45 all out in 14 overs v Australia, 2003
We've got Bermuda's 78 runs against Sri Lanka and 21 overs against Bangladesh in the first round to beat so we're no the worst in this WC.
59/7 :)18th over
60-7 18.2 overs
Some fella by the name of Extras is 3rd highest scorer for Ireland. :(
Reaching the ton would be huge achievement now. Match will be over before lunch?
72-8 now. While hammering. In fairness Australia have been absolutely sh*t hot in this tournament.
80-9 now, Mooney 19 n.o. Pretty impressive.
Has Jeremy Bray got more than 1 run in any match so far?
82/9 now ... still at the end of the day lads... Australia are world class and to get that much is damn good!!! :)
91 all out 30.0 overs...
well done lads!!
I think a top team would have struggled against that bowling attack.
Now to create the biggest shock ever.
Since Bray scored 115 he has averaged 7.6 from last 6 matches. I think 3 runs in last 4 matches?
Oh well Ireland lost by 9 wkts.. cheating aussie scum!!! :)
Bangladesh v Ireland on Sunday, Can we win a game, this is our only chance.

The Red and White Army are still giving it lilty.......
I reckon it will be between Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka. I fancy New Zealand for some reason...
