yes, he doesnt score loads of goals but with a team like ours his skills are invaluable. we scored 5 goals over the last week and by my reckoning doyle was heavily involved in at least 4 of them. himself and robbie is turning into a great partnership and doyle is critical to us
Im sorry but there is no way doyle will play for a top 4 club, fair enough he can hold up and flick on the ball but his movement and of the ball play is absolutely terrible, he doesnt make runs he chases balls, midfielders have to direct him where to go, any team that plays decent football would have no place for him. I think Arsenal was his slight hope of playing up that part of the table and I would rate Van persie well ahead of him, Chamakah is coming with a big reputation and Wenger isnt likely to spend money replaceing his third choice striker (bendtner) when there is only a marginal difference between him and doyle. Villa would be the highest finishers that would take him.
All those commentators who praise his off-the-ball work must be absolutely demented then. "Terrible," you say?
Sorry just to clarify, i mean in an attacking sense, i dont doubt hell chase defenders down all day, which is what commentators praise more than anything, and i prefer to watch players and judge them for myself as opposed to rehashing what a coupe of commentators say
I still think you're way off the mark.
edit: to Manblue
I think Doyles (second) goal away to West Ham summarised how much he has progressed this year. He broke with the ball, had the pace to beat his man and finished very cooly and accurately from a tight angle. I would not have confidence in the Doyle of two or three years ago in doing that, his finishing in my opinion was always subject. Yes he was a good man around the six yard box, but his one on one etc have improved no end.
He is good in the air, is quite quick and can now finish to a high standard, not to mention he has a very high work rate. Not sure if he will get a move to a big four but he certainly deserves to play for a better club than wolves. If Steven Fletcher is worth 7m, then Doyle must be twice that!!
i love doyler but a move to a club like arsenal could be a career-killing move, he won't start. villa would be better. but for now i think he should stay with wolves
In the limited highlights (last night) that I watched on Motd Kevin looked top quality.
**** again. makes Darryl Murphy look good.
did you miss his assist for the equaliser against Everton?
I hate Doyle too. Who needs all this guile nonsense. As soon as I saw him on the wing I thought (like all the Everton defenders) here comes a high ball into the middle. The ******* decided to hit it along the ground. Flukey Doyle I thought as SEB scored a tap in. Lucky, lucky player. All this holding stuff and turning players (joke! defenders like Jagielka)on a six pence is a complete waste of time. Especially when your team mates benefit.
Sounds like he was hustling pretty well, good to hear he set up their goal too. Anyone see the game? Anyone know how Doyle did overall?
He did very well, he's exactly the type of player Wolves need. He'll start every match when he's fit, even when Fletcher comes back. He did a great job on the right hand side of attack, closing down defenders well and making intelligent runs. Too bad he's wasted at a club like Wolves who have no chance of competing for anything.
its great that doyle does a lot of defensive work but i want to see him more in the box a bit more scoring goals especially for ireland. he never really looks threatening, we dont want him to turn into a dirk kuyt type. a worker but not a scorer.

Quote:
2. KEVIN DOYLE, Wolves
Though far from the most prolific of strikers, to judge Kevin Doyle on goals alone would be to ignore the many other facets of his game that make him the player he is.
An incredibly hard-working, resilient striker, Doyle is one of the league’s finest when it comes to leading the line and providing an outlet for team-mates in that 4-5-1 system. It’s a lonely role, but Doyle performs it selflessly. A stripped-down-but-no-less-functional iPod nano to the Ipad that is Didier Drogba, if you will.
A revelation at Reading after joining from Cork City for a mere £78,000, Doyle’s tireless running and incredibly selfless displays were central to Wolves escaping relegation last season. His 9 goals in 34 appearances were also a help, of course.
The video in the article is a stark reminder of how good Doyle's technique is, and what an all-round quality footballer he is. Great in the air despite not being that tall, takes a fantastic penalty, and is comfortable smashing the ball into the net with either foot. Some of the goals in there are excellent. And they haven't even included his goals against Slovakia or Andorra.

Im probably going to get slated for this, but if I had to choose I would have Robbie over Doyler. At the end of the day, you want your strikers to score goals and the reality is that Robbie is far more likely to get you goals than Doyle. If Doyle could add another 5/6 goals to his season tally then he would be top class.
Elroy, I think it's an issue of lack of service and the fact that he plays up front on his own quite a bit.
If he played in a top half Premier League team and had more creative players around him to set him up I'd bank on him getting more goals. He's a good finisher.
Yeah, I think the fact he's with Wolves makes it harder for him to score goals. If he was with Everton for example (cause Yakubu is dire), he'd have much better support.
The Yak is a sublime finisher when fully fit, but I think his days of full fitness may be in the past (there's no way in hell he's only 27). There's definitely a vacancy in Everton's strikeforce with Saha also on his way out, Anichebe permanently injured and James Vaughan not considered up to snuff.
I think the only way Doyle would get a move from Wolves is if he forced one, which isn't his style. I doubt Mick would sell him for less than $10-million, and I doubt any team would pay that for him.
Perhaps if they were relegated Doyle could move on, but otherwise he'll be with Wolves for the long term.
Missed a great chance for Wolves just before half time. Again he looks out of sorts. I can see McCarthy dropping him if he fails to score soon. Good to see Stephen Hunt warming up (and getting serious stick from the Chelsea halfwits). Hunt on second half and Doyle is having a much better game now. Would love to see Hunt score and shut up the Chelsea morons
First league goal of the season. Finally!
He certainly needs to start scoring if they are to get out of the relegation zone,
there is a 5 point gap now, however a few more points and you are mid table.
Still at least he has opened his account, no great surprise it was a header.
Not even on the bench today vs. Birmingham but not listed as injured on physioroom.com
anyone know what the deal is?
Dead leg.
won and scored a penalty for Wolves against City to make it 4-2
it wasnt a great penalty like the FSC commentator would have you beleive. If hart had guessed the right side he would have saved it.
Weird game today. Was invisible for large stretches of the second half which in fairness his whole team in general was. Looks like there is little cohesion with Wolves in the attacking zone at times. They could have tied it up late.
