Is this a typo by extra time of can clubs really not sign pros during the summer?
The window to sign amateur players opens on June 1st, while professional players can be signed from the beginning of January.
There's a new system proposed in the Conroy Report, comes in next season apparently.
One player from each club is selected to take part in a Hunger Games style contest (featuring monkeys and knives obviously). The winning player earns two transfers for his team. The losers are banished to Athlone.
Owen Garvan linked with Pats, Limerick & Bray after leaving Colchester.

His family are from Rush so he'll be looking to stick around Dublin anyway so most likely Pats if they can afford him, otherwise Bray.
If Bray are having trouble paying their current squad they'll hardly take on another player.
Oh the old adage of a clerical error. If I had a euro for everytime that excuse was used.
he has definitely spoken to Bradley, was at their game on Tuesday but also said he hasn't discussed a salary or contract length yet, just about the general idea of whether it would be worth his while comign back. It woulnd't surprise me if he ended up deciding the money wasn't going to justify him coming home.
I'd love to see him in the league, one of the last players I was really excited about as a prospect outside of the league, remember seeing him at the Cross in an u21 game and being very impressed.
Another midfielder is not what Rovers need right now.
A centre half and/or a prolific striker is what we need.
If we are genuinely linked to him I'd say McDonald will be trying hard to get him in. The money will certainly be there and he would be full time. If he is moving back to Dublin though I can't see him travelling down here.
Always saw Gerry as Home Farm through and through.
Yep Owen is good stock, not quite sure how his style of play would fit in this league.
Would fit it more than League One/Two where he's been playing, I'd say.
Hearing a rumour that Niall McGinn could be signing for Derry.
anybody heard anything about who might replace Maguire? So far I've seen Ronan Murray, Sadlier (Shep up front id guess?), and Hoban.
Those are the only ones I've heard anyway, bid rejected for sadlier apparently. I'd take hoban if he's anything like he was at dundalk, but would he come to us?
According to the new limerick fc manager we are in talks to sign 4 players and he is hoping he can push through another two using his connections in the UK
At first I thought it was Nial McGinn I spotted in Buncrana on friday, but then realised it was Gareth McGlynn, always used to mix up them two.
Ronan Murray is one of the better players in the league so no surprise Cork are interested. Hopefully he will stay.
I think / hope Sadlier knows he will get picked up by a club in the UK for January so will stay till his contract runs out at the end of the season
Interesting re Hoban, he can't have that many options in UK after Mansfield, still quite young though, options would seem to be in Ireland, no idea where, but he has been at the last 3 home Dlk games.
Sadlier is a player I would love to see move to Dundalk, but he may have higher ambitions for UK.
Hard to know what Hoban is like now. If you were guaranteed the player from 2014 then I'd take him in a heartbeat as he was excellent for us as the striker up top. He seems to have struggled the last couple of years in England but he could offer us something that we haven't had since he himself left and that's a striker who holds the ball up and brings the midfield into the attack.
Of course he would. He is definitely a realistic target for Cork City.
You're in Europe, you're going to win the league, wages won't be an issue, he would be filling the void left by Maguire and like his two seasons at Dundalk, he will be in a team that is full of confidence and creates lots of chances.
Looks like Kevin O'Connor is following Maguire to Preston. Couple that with the potential of Delaney returning to Burton... could really disrupt our season
It's Cork's title to lose.
is kevin o connor part of the maguire deal by any chance , heard it recently but it could all be hear say !! both sean McLoughlin and sean o mahony are in training with city at the moment and offer an outlet at the back for JC. but would he gamble on a player who has no previous LOI experience being the main question to ask there
When he was at Dundalk it was said that he came back to Ireland due to homesickness and wasnt enjoying his football so it makes sense that his pal gets a move to help him settle this time. He wasnt settled at Dundalk either, it wasnt all lack of game time that he wanted a move and a move closer to home. He had a chance to stay at Accrington permantly but chose to move back to LoI. O'Connor in his own right can carve out a career in the UK but it wouldnt be uncommon that a player gets signed just to help another player especially if not native English speakers - does Waterford/Cork count as non English speaking :p
