I was just taking a look there at the Tartan Army website and going from the comments they make about their trip to Bari a couple of years ago, this one should be a cracker.
http://taboard.com/forum/index.php?s...8&hl=Bari&st=0
smaller places are better, i thought mainz was a cracker, better than stuttgart as a destination(and result ;-)
:D Not at all SH
Just wondering has this flight been cancelled? It's no longer available to book, but neither is the opposite direction, Bari - Dublin which were been offered to the Italians for around a fiver. Anyone caught out, check out flying into Brindisi which is an hour by train from Bari and only €7. Train every 20 mins or so.
Delaney says in todays star they have 9,000 tickets for the Italy game happy days.
I'm on the Ryanair direct flight on the way home. I wouldn't take the fact that the flight has been taken off the website as an indication that it's been cancelled. If anything I'd say it's the opposite, that's it's full. Another reason for taking it off the website would be to avoid confusion in case it was thought that they were now operating a regular service from Dublin to Bari.
Anyway, we haven't received any correspondence from Ryanair stating that the flight has been cancelled.
Lads you sound like Estate Agents.
Need somewhere to stay in Bari if anyones got any advice
Scroll back through the thread a little bit. Nearly everything was gone I'd say but there was a couple of suggestion re. B&B's I think, possibly a bit outside Bari.
Have you tried the Hotel Moderno? We got single rooms there for about 60 Euros per night, and a bloke in work got a room there about a week ago which cost him around 80 Euros a night. I don't have the link for it but it's easy to find on google. We did our booking initally over the phone and then it was confirmed by email. Oh and by the way, they take the payment before you arrive (as in our payment has already gone).
Email these two b&b's. Both close to stadium and city centre and quite cheap. They offered us rooms a few weeks ago but we can sorted elsewhere. Maybe worth a go

Yea Ive found a couple of places.
http://www.visaresidence.it/ these guys rent apartments out. About 130 for 4 people per night.
Use yahoo or google to translate that link.
http://www.euromotelbari.com/ a decent looking motel with loads of rooms left.
http://www.vittoriaparchotel.com/ If u fancy spending a little bit extra.
It took a serious amount of searching to find them free places!!!
If anyone hasn't got anywhere, don't panic there will be rooms available closer to the time with travel agency's canceling.
You can still get rooms here

However most are not bookable via the web. Best to ring if you know a native speaker or fill out a few web contact forms and wait for a response.
not ideal but you should get sorted.
Just got flights there, dublin -> milan -> bari and opposite way round home
Bit of a stopover in milan for a while, so may as well go see the san siro
Total cost was around 240
Dub -> Milan - Aerlingus
Milan -> Bari - Ailitalia
Bari -> Milan - Ryanair
Milan -> Dublin Ryanair
Not too shabby
lets hope there's still a good enough crowd going.
Any Irish pubs in Bari which anyone knows of? :)

doesn't seem the best but you never know.
think everyone will meet in the main square. i remember being in milan for a united match in 2005 and the police were fine with everyone drinking in the streets.
did object to the mass game of football though - ball got confiscated.
does anyone have a copy of the daily star tape from the Italia 90 with all those Italian-based cheesy irish songs on, you know with Dermot Morgan and the Dunphy impression.
would be brilliant to get them sung on this trip.
"Mamma Mia, Mammia Mia, what a beautiful team etc.
hahahaha
