Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp told Sky Sports news: "The chairman rang me an hour ago asking me what I thought about it. Nothing sorted yet but it probably will happen. Robbie Keane's too good a player not to be starting. I think it's a move that appeals to him. He's a big Celtic man and to play for them - he's a bit like Roy Keane, he dreams of playing for Celtic one day. And we're strong in that position up front."
Im absolutely over the moon with this deal. Its perfect for Robbie. I have no doubt he will score for fun and he will earn a decent move for himself in the summer. So much better for him that sitting on the bench behind the most over rated player in world football in Defoe. The move to Celtic did Bellamy the world of good a few years ago and he loved the club so much that he wanted to stay but Celtic couldnt afford him
I would just like to say that at all times I really believed there was serious substance in all those Robbie to Celtic rumours down through the years.
Never (behind a wafer thin facade of derision and cynicism) did I ever really doubt that Robbie would be kissing the Celtic badge before the age of 30.
No harm in him there going there for the rest of the season. He'd only be sitting on the bench at Spurs. A move like this didn't do Bellamy any harm anyway.
celtic are woeful. the spl is woeful. he may as well have come home to play for rovers in tallaght
as an ireland fan i am very disappointed as i think he is way to good for them
if i was a celtic fan tho i would be over the moon. given the stage of his career and relative youth he has to be the best player that celtic have got their hands on since larsonn left (roy was half the player he was by the time he arrived up there).
the rest of the team is utter rubbish tho (with the possible exception of mcgeady).
Priceless. You either have psychic powers or missed the news that Celtic have been signing players left, right and centre in the last couple of weeks. Unless I was right the first time, you may want to wait before pronouncing on how good or otherwise the new crop are.
Champions in May. You heard it here first. :D

DONE DEAL
ROBBIE IS A CELTIC PLAYER :):)
He’s being “unveiled” at 11pm tonight at Celtic Park
This wil be good for Robbie and Ireland. Playing and scoring will up his confidence no end. Can't wait to see him and McGeady in operation.
It will be an interesting comparison between Robbie and Anthony Stokes for rest of season. The more I think about it the more Im buzzing about seeing Robbie in the Hoops
Can't wait, really is an exciting prospect. He'll be a Green God!
Can't wait to see David Healy at Ipswich too...making Roy Keane look even more like an idiot!
!Arry says: Robbie too good a player to be on the bench, great player, trainer and character but wants to start games:

I hope you're right and his linking up with more Irish lads at club level is a positive. That aside, my instinct when I heard about this was to wish he'd broken a mould and gone to Rangers. At least if he ended up staying there he'd have some CL football next autumn.
Robbie Keane is a massive Celtic fan, there would be as much chance of the pope declaring he was turning to Buddism as Robbie going to Rangers. Anyway with Robbie and Kamara up front for Celtic for rest of season Im very confident of winning the league now.
I can't help but be a little saddened by this news. I know it is better for him to be playing somewhere than sitting on the bench but I was hoping some Premiership club would come in for him. Hopefully he can use it as a springboard like Bellamy did a couple years ago but the SPL was better then.
...and Kyle Lafferty was born in a Rangers top but was very tempted when Celtic came sniffing a year before he got his dream move. You're right that Robbie and Kamara could be the difference mind -though if I'm honest that just goes to show how thin a gruel the SPL is really.
Come come Lionel. You and I both know that even if Keane was willing to join Rangers there's no way that they could or would sign him. Even if Lloyds would sanction the move, the loyal hordes wouldn't stand for a Free Stater, and a self-professed Tim at that, playing for them - season tickets would have been burned all over again...
Take your point about thin gruel though. I can only hope that the last two weeks' activity in the East End have thickened things up somewhat.

keane is a massive Liverpool fan - they were his team as a boy as he said numerous times when he signed up. Isn't the celtic thing well I'm Irish so I'm suppose to support celtic?! SPL is muck.......
why didn't he go to the championship where the standard is better?
