The Politicians have the knives out and a target that is'nt them and makes them look good grandstanding.
This won't go away until entire board resigns and Delaney gone.
They need to get on with it at this stage.
According to this, funds may be allocated, but may not be drawn down. https://twitter.com/emmetmalone/stat...49163429048320
So not quite as bleak.
Dundalk’s new CEO made an address in the programme last night, said 'improving the stadium facilities' would be a priority in his tenure.
Not much more specific details on this (and a long list including almost every area would need looked at) and we have heard this before, but if they have spent 500k on the YDC to date, maybe the next phase would be spectator improvements, we can only live in hope..............
St. Pats are within Dublin City Council area and they, the Council, have (unanimously) voted for the Dalymount project. I suspect the idea of them supporting a second stadium is very unlikely especially as the Dalymount/Phibsborough project will take years. Pity, but with that and the constant call's for housing in Dublin, timing just not on Pats side on this one I suspect
If Pats claim that their plan will not cost the public a penny, it means that the site they want has no value. Really, lets get real, and then maybe some progress can be made.
Dalymount is publicly owned now, so sport capital money would not be going to the FAI. Tesco may be more of a delay in this case.
The apocalypse is nigh, there are actual toilets in the away end at Oriel
The most significant thing to happen in Irish football in 2019, behold the Oriel Away toilets

It didn't get FAI backing as the FAI didn't even know about it. The club went out on their own on it, I felt it was a bad idea at the time not involving them but it wasn't that long the club had publicly spoken out against the FAI after thw whole 5k thing so I don't think support would have been forthcoming.
Sorry to burst the bubble but it is actually a customs post
I was aware of that and that's why I said it was unlikely to succeed, irrespective of any local politicians coming on board.Whatever the merits of the concept it always had a bang of something rushed together and put in the public domain to pressurize DCC into handing over the site.
Like it or not there is a protocol for doing this stuff and effectively bypassing the FAI was never a runner
It won't cost a penny, as the public purse won't have to put any money in.
The notional land value of a publicly-owned housing estate is a different matter, and in many ways is irrelevant - unless the council intends to monetise/realise the 'value' of that site at some point. And even if they did, they'd have to spend the income replacing the units lost.
In short - this is the council turning down what at first glance appears to be a good deal from a number of angles.
It seems odd that the DCC are refusing to play ball on this when the site is a lot more suited to having a stadium and the other amenities than the current ground and most of the other potential sites pats could move to in the area. I know you can say the council handing over the plot doesn't make sense for them but they're also getting a lot of community facilities built for them which goes some way to negating that.
They seem to be panicking because of the housing crisis and just throwing down houses forgetting that the lack of stuff to do in the area is part of the reason St.Michaels estate failed last time they tried it.
Any talk about the new stand in the Brandywell being extended to the original drawings? Seems to be near a sellout every week up there.

Vinny Perth going in 2 footed on Shane Ross and hes bang on.
Ross tweeted his picture among the 40 or so UCD fans in the Des Kelly last night,Also made the point that he paid in ( good value according to himself). Hopefully he had a good look around at the crumbling facilities.
It was a tenner for everyone into the Des Kelly for whatever reason
Jesus the tramway end in Dalymount needs weeding. Full grown bushes there now.
Could bohs not get a couple of volunteers to weed the place.
