631 in Lissywollen for Athlone v Dundalk
For the firsgt time in a long time we didn't annouonce an official figure. Reckonit was around 1,300 meself, about 50 from Bray.
Is it that attendances are plummeting so badly that the club doesn't want anyone to know? Wheels are not just coming off, they are off and stacked neatly in the corner.
858 at Shels v Waterford. Figure earlier is wrong.
We had smaller crowds when we were doing well in the First Division!
I'm impressed that any more than 300 would attend a game against Bray (with all due respect to Bray who are doing well this season) especially as GUFC hadn't even got a point at home let alone score a league goal. And don't get me started on the hoofball.
Maybe we will pick up 3 points in the Brandywell next weekend? :D
Indeed I do support my team regardless of the opposition. But others don't. I've been to the Showgrounds on many occassions when there have been over 4,000 people there. Where are they now deecay? The Irish sporting public are very fickle. Haven't you noticed?
Did you read my entire post of just one sentence?
3,000 approx at the Hoops-Pats tonight... Very poor pats contingent IMO- bohs brought twice as much 2 weeks ago... Still, 3,000 for a dublin derby is pathetic.
I would have said around 2,500 myself. Main stand was fairly full and the Ballybough end and lego stand had a few hundred each
Agreed, it was a pathetic attendance for a Dublin derby but I reckon it would've been a lot higher on Friday night. I heard no publicity for the game over the weekend whatsoever. With Munster, Celtic and two epl games on yesterday, the sports departments in our media forgot all about it.Quote:

Recent games missing -
Monaghan v Fingal[/QUOTE]
rovers bohs missing off the list?
A mate of mine arrived 40 mins early and didn't get a free scarf. Was there really 1000 given out?
I think overall trend seems to be up significantly although would be interesting to know average after 8 games last season. I think crowds do tend to drop a bit in the summer months though but could come back up for crunch games later in the season.
I thought it said 'Proud to be a Hood'.....
;)
Fair play to Rovers. You could tell something was going on when you saw so many identical scarves on the TV.
Was it sponsored, or did the club pay for it themselves ? Must have cost at least a couple of thousand Euro
That cycle happens every year, and is entirely predictable.
Still - I can't help feel there is a bit more support out there than usual this season. Which if it lasts across the season will be great.
There's no doubt that MNS will deliver mnore supporters to the league. It might only be football-mad young kids who love watching the game and who will pick a favourite team in Ireland from watching the show, and do little more than just keep an eye out for them, but it all helps one way or another.
Ya there sure is. At the beginning when people where saying it would improve attendances, I would tend to disagree but now i'm convinced that it actually makes a difference. Although the First Division is not shown on MNS, it has convinced two lads that i'm in college with to go to Limerick-Monaghan next week. One is from Galway and the other from Waterford but they have to stay around until Saturday for an exam. After watching MNS, and knowing my huge interest in the League, they asked were Limerick playing that weekend. I'm going to bring them along. (Anything to get away from study i'd say:D)
Is "cars" the word you're looking for? ;)
Possibly Five hundred on the ballybough end and a further 150 in the stand would have been my guess.
Ironic given that rovers only fileld two blocks in the stand at Inchicore for many years...
Moving the game to sunday was always going to have a big impact on the attendance. Rovers filled half of the old stand, maybe two hundred in the new stand and less than 50 on the riverside... hardly a sterling home support now is it?
