Attended Villa v Town game today. Decent game maybe missing the bite of their usual meetings but still both teams played a easy on the eye brand of ball. Villa shaded first half and should have converted at least 2 of 3 good chances they created but found themselves behind right on half time when town scored from a corner. Town as always good from set pieces and following a few bad corners this one was hit with pace and villa failed to cut it out at front post and good finish from the unmarked striker, their other only real chance was a free kick which was well saVed by Villa keeper, who looks very decent, talking of keepers Richie was in goals for Town was this another last game!!!!!!! While Town were the better
side in 2nd period Villa were always in the game, turning point was Mick Ryans withdrawal due to injury it cost them pace and a bit of cutting edge and Towns attacking Villas left side which was a a bit weak and eventually the full back got caught on wrong side of striker and conceded a pen, well put away by Scully. Game over. Town lacking something not sure what it is but will comment after I have seen them a few more times. Right full back best player for them today. Villa much changed but some very useful players, Blonde guy in middle of field impressive, good runs into box and should have scored twice, needs a bit more fitness. Also new Center half with Leahy very decent. Over all Town are Town and write them off at your peril, personally don't think they will win league looking at today's game but that could change. Villa are rebuilding and I think they will finish in top 4 but need a cutting edge up front to really make a stir. Best player for Villa blonde guy in middle of park. Sorry that I can't put names on players assume Mega Tots will fill in the blanks on the Villa side. By the way the Ref did ok based simply on the fact he was the Center of attention as some of them are prone to be.
Cahir Park 3 Cashel Town 1. Clonmel Celtic 5 Borris 0. Peake Villa 0 Clonmel Town 2. John Delaney Cup Final St.Michaels 3 Nenagh AFC 2.
richie has played his last game for Town, who scored the other Town goal along with Scully?
jimmy hynes scored the other goal and was brought down for the peno
Sgt bilko
If Ritchie is leaving town , who have the lined up to come in as they really have no senior goalie in the club no disrespect to the young keepers there
The talk is Jamie flahertys son, think he is a youth player, richie got his form signed after today's game, that was the deal. Don't think that guy was available today as he was playin wit Tipperary
Anyone know the town team that lined out? Was the assistant and Mick comer ford back for town?
Town can't afford to rely on youth keeper , not fair to him playing youths on Saturday and then juniors Sunday a real tough ask for him I presume he not available for a while as tipp won , might be worth their while to ask stephen o neill he keeps himself in good shape ,
Anyone at saints match today I missed it how did it go performance wise ?
Yeh he could be an option alright, he must be 40 or so, is he still involved wit the club? You probably need to look at a younger option though.
dont agree with you rightboy if the young lad is good enough why shouldnt he play
Not disputing his not good enough but I have seen so many good young lads burned out over the years and also you have to look at him if he picks up an injury he won't be able to recover properly as I said not disputing the talent
But we all no how tough it us to play full junior season let alone line out for youths
fair point but maybe if they had the older lad as back up it might work
I think that's best option , I just like to see young lads play at their own age group first and then develop from there
Stephen O'Niell is the secretary of the Schoolboys at Clonmel Town. Would be very surprised if he came out of retirement.
I heard from a fairly reliable source tonight that another 1 of Towns players is off to Limerick, boywonder you might know more? very difficult time for the club at the moment
Maybe,as I said I didn't hear anything, who is it by the way,or can you say?
Very impressed with clonmel celtic, a serious team and will give the league a serious rattle. I hope myself they win it, play soccer the right way. Stephen ryan and waters are a serious partnership in midfield.
Good win for cahir yesterday, they must have been impressive. All teams with points now apart from wilderness, twill be tight.
Lads i have a quick one for ye,before anyone jumps down my throat im aware we would have no football without referees and so on and there is always going to be controversial decisions but having talked to Town players and Villa players after the game sunday and then talking to Cashel and Borris players Sunday night it seems everybody agrees John O Dwyer actually is not even aware of the rules of the game,he is eventually going to cause a riot, surely there is a responsibilty for other officials to report him,he certainly has no place in the first 3 divisions of the league and im not trying to have a go,he is just nowhere near the standard
Hi all, I'm a new on this forum and from what I have read so far this is a very informative source of information for what has to be said as one of the top junior leagues in the country. Personally I have been involved in the TSDL as player/blagger for about 20 years with a few different clubs. Unfortunatly due to family commitments, the fear of the pain on a Monday morning and the absolute pain in the arse of trying to catch up with 17/18 year olds, I thought it was about time I hung up the boots. The upside is I might actually get a chance to get around to see some games!!!
After watching him officiate several games(some of them sheild finals) I would have to agree with you. I do think the general consensus is that John would be one of the weeker ref's in the league. His approach to players is sometimes is questionable in the sense he can be quite aggressive in his mannerism towards players. I personally think that approach is not helpful as the game as we all know can be a very emotional and heated.
It would be a cause for concern if 4 premier clubs are of the opinion he is not up to standard. I presume he has passed all the official exams and tests to be assigned premier games. I would suggest to any club who feels an official is not good enough to report it to the TSDL. Don't say it is a waste of time. The onus is on the TSDL then to take the matter up with the Referees Society. If, as you say, 4 clubs are of the same opinion, all four should make official complaints. There is an onus on all to protect players. If something serious happens eventually then clubs can state they have it on record they complained.
I can absolutely guarantee you he is going to be at the centre of a very serious incident very soon, even the way he speaks to players and then his childish reaction of giving outrageous decisions as an act of revenge,he seems to have absolutely no interest in football either which is amazing,i have never seen him at a game he wasn't officiating,he has no rapport with the players or management teams, and for the record he didn't make any decision which cost Peake Villa on Sunday it isnt about that it just struck me that so many people from so many clubs were off the same opinion
Just seen the fixtures on the TSDL website and there is a free weekend for the All Ireland final, well done to Tommy Lewis and the TSDL that is most definitely a good call, people are quick enough to complain so hopefully they appreciate the decision to have no games
agree wit the comments bout the referee, been from cashel myself i am fully aware of him, hw will be involved in something serious soon, he often incites arguements between players where a referee should do his best to calm things
Guys ye need to be careful it sounds like a bit of a witch hunt against this ref ! Did something go in thurles yesterday that has caused this reaction .
As for reporting a ref to the tsdl I remember town / saints a couple of years ago making a joint complaint to no avail as said ref I believe is now league of Ireland official ! Any thoughts guys on the general standard of refs in the league ?
don t think its necessary to mention the refs name on this site but his style of refereeing is madcap. as for the ref who is now doing loi in my opinion he always had a vendetta against town which was clear anytime he reffed there games. he appears to be doing well at loi level this season so not sure will he be involved much in tipp untill loi season is over. as for the general standard in tipp of refs i think its fairly ok have seen refs in other junior leagues around munster and would rate ours fairly highly in comparison
Im not trying to have a go either but i do agree with what your saying.ive been at many matches with john reffin and ther always seems to be a problem or controversy.even at schoolboys level he does not seem to be able to handle situations properly.theres no doubting its a very tough job but at some point some one is going to have a serious go at him.
lads i dont know much about the ref in question but if ye want to see a poor standard from officials just take a short visit up north, all refs are very poor
BLISTER... I like yourself was involved in the TSDL for 12 years before moving to the waterford league, this year because of work, injuries, old age etc..i decided to play 4th division which in waterford is an over 33s league,i saw some games last year the games are at a slower pace but a high standard and played in great spirit and it looks a good crack its also a great way of keeping club''Legends'' involved in their club,do you think this could work or would it be a good idea for the TSDL.
i was at the peter o rielly cup final in 2010 and john dwyer was linesman and he made an ass of him self .he had a running battle with both managers because if they put a foot outside the technical area he was flagging the ref who had to come over and tell him to calm down ..dont like bad mouthing ref but i had him reffin games ive played in and they always end up with him being the centre of things ..
