Why on earth would that happen?
I know but there isnt an alternative in Fingal at the moment . It will attract more supporters alright especially from D15 and if we play as good as we did this year plus it could attract more neutrals . Maybe a few bohs fans would show up if they cant make their away games knowing the money they spend at the bars goes to their club. It could appeal to local people with live football every friday night on their doorstep plus the euro games. Im not suggesting that all these people will become instant Fingal fans but it could improve our attendances which is the important thing. A lot of ifs and maybes i know but thats just my opinion not the clubs plus we all have to get that all important licence first. I cant see any harm in trying a new approach as Morton was clearly not attracting the fans, it may or may not work but we will find out soon enough
Who's in charge of Sporting Fingal? If a merger did happen to happen, which owners will be more in control?
Bohs would swallow up Fingal and a merger wouldnt do Bohs any good anyway.
Ok, I'll move away slowly then fast from the point I was making. At least Sporting Fingal will be moving to what I'd see as a proper football stadium. I've never thought much of Morton but at least it has had it's uses.
Agreed.
Doesn't explain why Fingal Co Co would get Dalymount, or where they'd get money from to build a ground.
In any event, Bohs' immediate problem is selling Dalyer, which the Council can't do anything about.
I thought Shels where moving to Dalymount within the next two years? Maybe IM wrong but I could have sworn I saw that somewhere a few months back.
I was looking at it in terms of Fingal CC running the show if there happened to be a merger as mentioned in sundances thread. Bit wide of the mark so I'm getting away from this! On the money side, yeah I know, fair point. In the short-term the money is not there. If both parties worked together in the long-term, maybe it could be something they can work towards.
well then ill ask you, what leads you to think that i might have additional knowledge? What did i post that suggested, in any way, that i had additional knowledge of a more optimistic future for Bohs?
I posted some months back that Bohs financial problems had crystalised (ie we were finally told about them) as follows (1) long term our problems - Zurich loan etc - will only be resolved by a sale of Dalymount (or picking 6 numbers...*) (2) Short term we have a difficulty paying our day to day costs - primarily contracted amounts (wages) to players.
Right now (2) is the more accute as the threatened court action and any licence for next season are directly affected by it. To be fair wages for players are not the only outstanding current liability but at this point may well prove the most toxic for the club.
* or reaching the group stage of........... whoops
Apparently there's a split in the Bohs players camp as some aren't happy that players like Madden are getting full wages whilst they're getting nothing
a split of 10 vs. 2 going on yesterdays news.
Ah sure this rumour comes up every season. From the statements the club made earlier in the year we are staying firmly put. The DCC development plan draft as far as I know changed the zoning to recreational only (can't remember where I read that or how true it is. If anyone can verify please do.) Meaning Tolka Is staying. And Ossie it whoever isn't gonna be building apartments on it in the short term.
i think a lot of people will be surprised by the name of one of the players.
Is it Madden? I can't think of anyone else I'd be surprised by.
not Madden - he is being paid. And i wouldnt be all too surprised if it was him as he comes across as a little <expletive>.
not Byrne, his contract expired and he's no longer at the club.
I don't think that. I asked you if you had additional knowledge, and what your view was.
This -
I can only conclude that you want to play semantics. What else is this "I told you so" juvenile nonsense about?
It was a joke obviously. Christ.
I'll guess at Owen Heary. He has form for this type of thing.
Not necessarily, I know who one of the players is, and I know one who definitely isn't. The one who isn't is as unhappy and ****ed off by all accounts but wasn't ready to go down the legal route just yet. Now that the two guys have taken this step I'd say the others will wait in the wings, but aren't going to be too happy if Madden is the only player being paid to stop him ripping up his contract and walking away for free.
Don't they have to have at least an agreement reached over any unpaid wages by the end of December in order to get a Licence? Though I'm sure they'll be let away with it if they get it done the day before the Licencing Committee meets based on previous years.
I'd think you can stop worrying about Bohs being a Premier Division team next year, realistically it should never have been an option, was crazy of the board to announce 2 or 3 weeks ago that they were about to apply for a PD licence.
We'd be happy to have them in the First! Shels, Bohs, Drogs and Cork all in the First next year possibly. That's mad.
They should be heading for Division One after all this. They'll be a good replacement for Derry City in the division.
Does it not worry you re Nutsy that your Captain is doing this? To me it would seem that Nutsy may well be off as I'm sure if he planned for both he and Heary to be there next season he would've sorted this out privately. Is this potential Euro scout job for Celtic a full time thing or can he manage Bohs as well if he gets it?
Ha, maybe not. The FAI are going to announce the LOI fixtures tomorrow, presumably with Bohs in the PD without yet having applied for a licence. Does that suggest the FAI are going to try their best to find a way to keep Bohs in the PD in a couple of months time? Seems very unlikely that Bohs would be able to or even want to play PD ball next year but I forgot you can't rule anything out with the FAI.
Spot on. This is a strategy to make sure Bohs weren't bluffing about paying them in mid January. Someone on our forum posted this earlier and it makes a lot of sense.
Quote:
None of the eejits on gypoweb seemed to have copped onto what this is all about. From Bohs own statement "The players were told that it would likely be mid-January 2011 when funds would be in place to back the offers." So in late December two unamed players issue a threat to have have a winding up order placed on the club in 21 days. Coincidently 21 days from yesterday is mid January so it doesn't take a genius to work out this is merely a strategy from the players/PFAI to make sure Bohs weren't bluffing when they said mid January and they will actually have to pay up now instead of kicking it down the line again to say mid February. Very clever strategy from the players, it has McGuinness' fingerprints all over it.
The players have called Bohs bluff now, pay up in mid January as promised or it's a winding up order and no LOI licence for you.
