i recommend st peter's, very nice.
I recieved the tickets today!!!
Gates 17-18, Ramat Gan stadium, here I come !!!
Go Ireland !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IG and Doron,
welcome to the forum.
Count down is well and truly on now....
The FAI has sold 2500 tickets as far as I know, so I'd assume thats how many people are going to travel. Not as many as previous trips but, given the relative difficulties (6 hour flight/ "security" situation etc) it is quite a positive number. How many away fans is usual at games involving Israel?
I still remember the unbelievable nubmer of fans that supported the Irish national team in Paris. how many where there?
I don't remember when more than 1000 fans came to israel for an international game. its the political situation and the long way as you said, but 2500 (and i believe that we will see more) is a great number.
I will be there among the 43000~ fans.
By the way- i also recommend St. peter's. i was there last weak and its a nice place.
The weather here is not stable. Sunny days aside with rainy days, but i believe that in the end of march, the days will be hot. Short sleaves, that's for sure.
If you have more questions i can answer.
Good night
Gates 17 and 18. Where abouts in the stadium are they?
Probably between Gates 16 and 19! :rolleyes:Quote:

17-18 is a bad place (as expected for the away fans isn't it?), in the picture its 3-4 o'clock. behind the right goal.
Sure wont we have a great view of Robbie Keane's goal celebrations!!
I traveled to Spain at 1999 at time when Israel played away match in Albacete so I went to there.Quote:

Impossible to tell really. In the region of 30,000 to 35,000 though. Which is about twice as many as we were given tickets for! :)Quote:

Thanks for the info Kobby, will all our Israeli friends be attending the beach party? Hope so!
Any of the Irish lads fancy a kick about on the beach on Friday morning/midday?
Two best ways of getting rid of a hangover are swimming and playing ball!
Have any of you read the Ireland on Sunday on the 13th.Quote:

We're going to give the fans king-size treatment,' he says, over a freshly pulled pint of lager :D at the brewhouse, the only microbrewery in the Middle East. On the Saturday , the fans will make their way to Ramat Gan Stadium, an unassuming 40,00 capacity structure about five kilometers from the central buss station. 'Irish and Israeli flags will line the route from the hotels to the staduim. We're going to create that home away from home feeling,' says kobby "
BTW, the best way to see the city is on foot... TA is a small city (compare to European cities) and it is very nice and easy to walk in streets.
Buss and taxis are available everywhere in city centre.
If you take a taxi in TA the price is usually about 15-20 nis, or more if you go to stadium. From Hotels area in Hayarkon street to Ramat Gan Stadium don't pay more than 30-35 nis!
Sounds very reasonable Eldad

Had a flag made esp. for the Israel game(€150 it cost !) but lost it on its maiden apperance (Portugal game) :o  Might get one organised n the next week. How do you go about getting sponsorship? Always thought I might give it a try, what type of money are we talking about?Quote:

We stayed in Sheratron Tel Aviv which is on Hayarkon St. right on the beach next to the marina. Loads of hotels all along this street so I reckon quite a few fans will end up there.
Went to the following bars
Molly Blooms (Irish pub), on corner of Mendele Street and Hayarkon. Smallish pub but good atmosphere. Had a band playing traditional instrumental music on Monday night. Pints of plain excellent and 23 NIS each (about €4). Tables outside as well. Shows football on TV including premiership and la liga.
Mikes Place, Herbert Samule St.. On the beach. Good lively bar that does good food. Live band most nights apparently. Seems very popular with extremely attractive young Israeli women. Happy hour 4pm-9pm (2 for the price of one). I think it was about 15-20 NIS for larger (Carlsberg/Tuborg). Was well on when we got there so not quite sure. Was bombed in 2003 and 3 people killed but opened 6 months later. Right next store to the US embassy.
Joeys Bar 42 Allenby St. Bar seems to have a good mix (students, tourists, locals). Happy hour 4-9. Drinks were a little bit more expensive here than elsewhere we went but still reasonable. Massive CD collection and barman will play requests. NO problem meeting ladies here guys but chose the right one otherwise but I think you might end up having to pay for the pleasure. The other two bars were very close to the beach. THis was two or three blocks walk from Hayarkon street away.
Can't give you much advise about getting to and from the airport in Tel Aviv as we were met by customers but make sure you get there at least 3 hours before departure if flying EL AL. The security is pretty intense and my bags and I got searched twice, Xrayed once, put through the normal airport scanner as well. You get asked alot of questions by the secuirty guys. Flew out from Heathrow and the security there is also tight but doesn't take as long. Asked the passport control in TA to stamp my landing card instead of passport and it was no problem.
I was surprised in Tel Aviv not to see alot of police on the streets but every bar we went into to and most of the shops have security outside that will search you with a hand held scanner. People seem to just get on with their lives and the people in Tel Aviv are very friendly. We felt safe wherever we ended up walking late at night. The guys we met on business told us that Tel Aviv has very little crime and everwhere is safe to walk around. We mainly stayed around the beach area but the city is not big and there seems to be plenty of taxis and they are quite cheap.
Anyone we talked to about the match and who follows football thinks Ireland are a very strong team and a draw against us would be a good result but they expect their team to go out and play for the win. They seem to watch alot of Premiership footie and are well aware of alot of our players. Roy Keane, Duffer and Robbie Keane would be best known. They are very keen to make the IRish fans welcome.
Hope this info is of use. Only sorry I can't make the match myself.
One other thing. Was able to use my Banklink card in ATMs at airport and in Tel Aviv. The rate was quite good and commission small.

the israeli lads will reply to you, although i think this was briefly discussed in this thread, somewhere!!!! :D
Well, I can help you a lot about that because I am not used to go to clubs in TA... But what can I say is that Alcohol selling is limited to people over age 18.Quote:

BTW, don't be suprised to see gays and lesbians in TA streets.
Some clubs in TA are clubs of them and if you don't like it before, just look at signs in entrance and don't get in... It is very easy to recognise.
