It certainly is a start. Getting out of Div.4 of the NFL is the next big priority. After that getting past the first round of next year's Leinster, depending on who they are drawn against, would be expected and getting to a Leinster S/F would be real progress.
Great win by Wicklow in a cracking game and what a second half. Micko is still a class act.
The Tommy Murphy final has to get a higher profile next year than a midday start gives it.
Geez Tyrone were awful. Meath should beat Cork if Saturday is anything to go by.
James Masters is out for the rest of the season. He's after breaking his jaw. Huge blow for Cork. Here
Meath will definitely be favourites now. I fancied us to take them until i heard of this. Still feel we might sneak it!
The only good thing from it is that Daniel Goulding should be starting now or at least should be a lot more invloved than he has been up to now. Don't know why Billy hasn't used him more. How Bernie Collins got on ahead of him the other day is mind boggling!
Never any doubt that Meath would be favourites and hot favourites as well. They have too many big guns and a much stonger bench than Cork.
On the evidence of last Saturday what would make anyone think that Cork would beat Meath. The only danger to Meath winning is complacency and can't see Colm Coyle letting that happen. For Cork to have any chance they would have to raise their game by at least 20%, I dont think there are capable of that, and for Meath to lower their game by 20%, and I can't see that happening.
Meath to win comfortably by 6 or 7 points. At 8/11 with Paddy Power, I rate them a great bet.
I think every Corkman's initial reaction is that Master is too big a blow and we've no chance, but on second thoughts, the introduction of Goulding (who pretty much won the U-21 championship on his own this season) could be one of thoe bizarre sporting stories. No idea why he hasn't played more this season.
Meath, while they certainly have improved a huge amount, are being blown out of all proportion i think. Tyrone played quite poorly and if they were a little more clinical in front of goals they could have won it handy.
I'd imagine Canty would pick up Bray which should quieten him a bit. O connor to run the legs off Fay at full forward and Noelie to exchange pucks with Geraghty. My only worry is our corner backs who can be a bit loose. We'll at least break even at midfield with Murphy on form at the moment.
Anyways if theres one thing that will motivate a cork man besides Kerry its the Meath jersey. Playing the likes of Louth and Sligo(no offence) would hardly get you going as much playing the big guns. Meath i feel might underestimate us.

I hope all you Derry tipsters stayed out of the bookies on this one.
Gutted for the Monaghan team as they played a blinder. Well done to them but hard luck.

As expected by those who know their football :) Kerry were going to be stretched to the extreme limits of their talent if they were to pip Monaghan.
And if they were not up to it they would have been beaten.
The gauntlet was well and truly put to Kerry when Monaghan fought back and went 2 points up after Kerry's goal. Kerry didn't panic with pumping more useless high punts to Donaghy, instead they dug deeper and put in an excellent last 10 minutes of (total) football. Just what you would expect from a class Kerry team.
Monaghan manager McEneany deserves a lot of credit for his tactical approach and the preparation of the team re mental and physical fitness.
He restored Hanratty to the right corner and the young newcomer played very well. He also nullified the effect of long ball game to Donaghy.
This defeat hurts deep.
It has taken an enormous amount of work over the past 2 or 3 years to get the team to this level of consistancy. I would be very surprised if this team are not back in the mix next August.
Monaghan were brilliant today. I feel for em I really do. I thought the ref was a little card friendly as well - especially towards the Monaghan team. Kerry did well to pull it out of the bag but I thought a draw would have been a fair result.
