Middlesbrough 1 Everton 1
Our first game minus the services of Tommy G and we coped much better than I anticipated. Deserved to take all three points without a shadow of a doubt. Played some great football and it really was tough luck on both Carsley and Beattie hitting the bar and post respectively. Bent displayed some excellent ball control and ran tirelessly for the 90 minutes. Bringing on Big Dunc proved dividends on Moyes's part and he was unlucky not to hit the winner. I don't like Boro and I think they're really overachieving at the moment. They're a team of big names but lack any kind of fluency in their play. The Riverside is like a morgue. Hasselbaink is an upstart and was very lucky Stubbs didn't deck him yesterday. Pool now lagging seven points behind the toffees and the future still appears to be rosy on the blue half! ;)
BURNLEY 1 LIVERPOOL 0 Traore o.g 51'
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LIVERPOOL AND A T-BAG?
A T-BAG STAYS LONGER IN THE CUP! :o
What a sad and useless bunch! Feel sorry for ye at this stage. Some finish from Djimi Traore, turned 270 degrees and produced a wonderful flick past a hapless Dudek. Reminded me of Kanu's goal for Arsenal against Boro a couple of seasons back- only difference being Kanu scored for his own club. Judging by the highlights Burnley fully deserved their victory too. Benitez's post match interview was comical to say the least. What the hell was he on about??
Roll on Sunderland at Goodison! ;)
