Connacht Rugby, the whipping boys of Irish rugby, have sold 3,300 season tickets. The bandwagon is not derailing.
The fact that it's Lumen Christi makes it funnier:D
Someone should have warned me just how damn addictive that roulette is on paddypower.com. No money...lots of money...back to no money. Damn.
Commuting from Smithfield is the dogs. Shame the new housemate is dull as dish water.
Currently enjoying the US Presidential debate. Riveting altogether.
Obamas smile alone makes me want to become an American citizen and vote.
Romney just makes me want to kick him every time he opens his mouth.

After no power cuts in more than a year, we've had intermittent drops in service all morning.

just wondering why every time mypost posts something in a thread there are usually 2 or 3 deleted posts preceeding it?!
Because there is no direct bus from previous posts to that of myposts.
I only just realised that it's my birthday next week. What a mixed feeling it is when you cop on it's your birthday.

Seeing as my last update was well received, here is another.
I watched Wes Charles captain St Vincent to a 2-1 win in their opening match in Group 2 of the Caribbean Cup last night against Guyana (who were definitely the favorite). Guyana dominated the match in the midfield but couldn't get seem to get it going in the final third.
Ramuel Miller's Barbados finished second in their group and were eliminated about a month ago. He did score a free kick though. Not sure why Alvin Rouse wasn't called up, he may have retired from international football.

I thought we had a "Latest News" thread but it does not appear to be so. I had to post this though.

So after being screwed over for a my transfer back in April which resulted me in being so demotivated with my job in the interim; I managed to get a job elsewhere on Friday!
As a result I'm demotivated this morning. :) A better type of demotivation though.
Bizarre news: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19748545
It's like us unveiling a statue of Roy walking Triggs.
I don't get why the news channels are making such a big deal out of this storm in New York and New Jersey...frankly I think its an improvement. I am worried about the fish and the pollution entering their environment though :(
One of my darts disappeared. It's awful. It bounced out of the board, and disappeared. Starting to think there's a portal to another dimension in my back room.
This comes two days after my 4 month old TV mysteriously just stopped working.
Strange things happening in this house.
Is there a sport it is more fun to be awful at than squash? (Receiving oral sex doesn't count as a sport)
How can you be awful at receiving oral sex? Do you punch her?
one of my personal online bugbears is posting a link with no narrative to explain the destination
This is getting a bit too "Oz" for my liking and I only came in to comment on something very kind and simple - Peadar and Nigel - GAR (as I heard a teen say the week before last).
I was just going to ask, open question and all, is it a sin or crime (like insider trading) to place a bet on something you know is going to happen, when you know the person(s) involved? Everyone here likes sport, so would you? And not the type of sport mentioned on this page of course.
What inside info have you Spud and are your sure it's a sound thing?
Damn you, Spud! Not half an hour ago I finished lecture notes for a class tomorrow on ethics, toddled along here for some light relief (not of the Peadar and Nigel sort) ... and now you've got what's left of the mush that passes for my brain all stirred up again!
Leaving aside morality issues like sin, or legal issues like committing a crime, ethically I don't think I could place the bet. Virtue ethics would have me feel that doing so would be like stealing since I know the bet is not made in good faith. Utilitarianism would allow for the maximum happiness of the greatest number of people, so you would have to decide if your family was going to benefit from your - ahem - unexpected good fortune, whether they were more numerous than the employees and shareholders of the bookies, and their families. Mind you situational ethics gives you an out: every situation is assessed on its own merits, taking all considerations into account, but especially brotherly love. And if you feel particularly keen to have the flutter, you could always apply moral nihilism, which basically says that morality has rules and regulations that offer advantages to some but not all - and feck it! - who ever saw a poor bookie anyways?
Soooooo... I've probably been of absolutely no use to you at all, but (if you're still awake after that) thanks for helping me rehearse tomorrow's class! I might even test the blighters' ability with the Spud Hypothesis.
I suffer from no such moral dilemma - if sure that the result I wanted was certain to happen, I'd bet heavily on it.
Okay, basically it's this. Yet again last week I was told by a client of an injury which necessitated not winning so she could avoid missing out on an event this week, she'd a doubles match to play - which she was probably going to lose anyway. The odds (I was informed) were 4-1 the opponents to win in under 16 games, and evens to win. It's happened a few times and normally I/we advise the person to just pull out (say they've flu or womanly things, which works even for men). But for non-clients I also hear what is happening and it's just, well, a dilemma. Bookies are clued in most of the time, so they pull matches etc, but not always. Thank you EG for your direction on it, I've never backed anyone I'm involved with (or backed against) or never stuck money on something I know is happening, it just never seems right.
