Can anyone tell me what happened to Newtown.
not correct.. newtown f.c were disbanded after the end of last season with very strong rumours of amalgamation with park rangers !! which at the moment does not seem to exsist if amalgamation had taken place park or the new club would have been forced to play their football in the clare league..( munster / fai rule )the clare league had been keeping a close watch on this situation.. park rangers have benefited with a lot of ex newtown players now playing for them but bunratty fc & shannon olympic also picked up some of these ex newtown players... this issue has been mentioned before on this thread and if ye want to check back i'm sure it may be explained betetr ;)
division 1 b in limerick ( techically 3rd division) but maybee without influx of new players park could have been in more serious trouble all the talk seems to be based on the future for park only time will tell .. who knows .. bring back newtown . sad to see 30 years of a clubs history gone in one season  but cannot really see how newtown could make a comeback... check out website on www.parkafc.com.. even the last remaining piece of newtown history the ladies team now seem's to have been removed and park afc are now running a ladies team... !! having seen park A play a few times this season some may already say they already had a few ladies playing :D

NEWTOWN HAVE FOLDED 7th July 2008
The Clare League are very disappointed that Newtown have informed us this morning that they have withdrawn all teams from our League. We have done everything possible to keep them in our League over the last number of months. The club have told us that they can no longer get people to help out with managing teams in their club and have no option but to fold. From what we have been told most of their players are staying in the Clare League and this should ensure that some of the existing teams in our League are stronger for next season. Shannon Olympic are entering a youths team next season which should also help keep the younger players playing in the Clare League. If any player that played with Newtown last season needs help finding a new club for next season then contact the League Secretary Oliver Fitzpatrick on 086-8455373 or oliver@claresoccer.net. :ball:
What do ye make of the cup draw lads.... Some tough games and possible A vs B team in the Bridge...
A lot of the premier teams seem to have drawn each other.
Yeah they met in Round 2 last year...
Manager resigned after they got a hammering against Corofin alright...I believev Murty Joe is after getting involved with them now...Don't think they have had a game since before the christmas due to the games being called off over the weather.....
What is the story with Ballycasey if Newtown have folded, it would be an awful shame if iut was idle as they had a great set up there.....
With the weather being so bad Park AFC use both grounds for all teams. We the A-team have used 3 pitches this year, Riversides first pitch and Ballycaseys 1st and 3rd pitches. All depends on amount of home fixtures in any given weekend. With the School Boys playing on Saturdays and Junior Teams under 18s and up playing on Sundays its up to grounds man Willie to decide who plays on what pitch, but the weather also has a big say in it.
What is Park's own pitch like.....
Well they have 6 at the moment, if its the Main pitch you on about at Riverside then its Probably 1 of the best pitch's in Shannon apart from the Wolf Tones Camogie pitch (unreal). Thing is its kinda the same as Ballycaseys first pitch in that it doesn't take much rain for it to cut up.
Thanks for that lads, its a shame they had a good side and their facilities were very good also.Looking forward to playing the bridge in MJC in 2 weeks should be a good game.
Weather promised bad tomorrow.Reckon all matches could be called off
Hi All,
Olympic had a shed burnt down last weekend and it contained some pitch equipment, which was destroyed.
Would anyone have a pitch liner that they do not use anymore?
I am looking for the old style bucket liner that uses Lime and water?
If you have any ideas where to get one can you p.m me please. cheers.
Oh and can someone donate some grass for our pitch also!
All matches off tomorrow except the two Munster Junior Cup matches.
Just saw the cup draw there....wow looks like there will be a potential chance that those "light-hearted" friendlies could become the real thing...so there will be finally as set in stone result of the question which is the better Bridge team... I see from the clare website that both team won their respective divisons so it really will be a interesting match. Although thats provided the Bridge B's beat NOF Celtic B's( are they any good?)
Bunratty Bumble beeeeeees beat Bunratty A in friendly yesterday in astro turf.......3 - 1!!
Old git it might have been a friendly, but if you were there you'd have seen that both the A's and Bumble Bees were takin it very serious, a lot of pride at stake!!!:D Good game played in good spirits, better team on the day won. Lifford A are shakin in their boots I'd say!!!
lifford are actually at home:p
Does the Clare League realise that the country is in a recession? Our club got two fines in the door during the week fining two players 40 euros each for accumulating three yellow cards. The fact that alot of people are losing their jobs and with unemployment looks like rising to 12% before the end of the year how can the league justify this rule.
Fair enough if it is a red card you get a fine, but for three yellows????? Come on especially if you don't get on with a ref you can get three yellow cards quite easily over a couple of games.
Have any other clubs got these fines lately?? I personally think that is out of line, any thoughts?
does anyone here know or would they be able to find out if tulla united u16s are playing corbally united in the sfai cup this weekend the 7th/8th of february?
any help would be very much appreciated.
i assume all clubs were advised of rule & fines before sason started  if so not a lot you can do .. but 40 euro for 3 yellow cards seems very harsh.. at this rate you will either have the ritchest league in ireland or no players left as they cannot afford to pay fines ..:D getting very expensive now to play an amature game .. start of season 40 euro to register to league and heard a few clubs also charging memberships .. pay for training twice a week / match on sunday .. for a so called amature game it is getting very expensive ... would be very intresting to know what is being done with all this money league are making everyyear with registration fees / fines.. we have a so called county grounds out in doora which is used only every so often how many finals were not played on our pride n joy in doora last year
good one old git... what happened was we held the mighty lifford scoreless until close to end of firsthalf, 1 down at the break and a few of the boys dropped their heads for rest of the game n it finished 5-0.
no just jokin the real story was we had a team meeting before the game and said that we'll lose this game so we can concentrate on the league title as we had heard we were down to travel to newmarket next weekend for a must win tie for us if we are to have a chance of winnin the title
