Shannon v Geraldines
Ballynanty v Dromore
I'll go for 3 draws
I agree, pike will destroy mungret on sunday. even though pike have injuries, they will beat mungret by at least 3 goals. Just because mungret have won a few games in 1a they think they can challenge the likes of pike, what a joke!!
mungret players will have to come down off their high horse, there are about 4 or 5 teams in 1A that can get promoted. mungret could very well be in 1A next year!
Firstly we knocked balla out of last years lawson. We also put up a good display against fairview at the start of the season! How can you say that we are on high horses?? All players in mungret know well that we might pay for our poor start to the season but we have taken a very professional approach to the league and treated every game as a cup final. We have not got cockey in any sense. We know we still have a big mountain to climb in the league and every player is committed to doing that task. Pike may or may not be too strong for us on sunday but there will be eleven men ready to fight on sunday and another bunch of subs who will be dying to get a game on sunday!
Most of the people on here that are predicting Mungret to cause an upset are not connected to the club at all. Because of these posters that have nothing to do with the club you are assuming that the players are on "high horses". I can assure you nothing could be further from the truth. Pike may well destroy us like you are predicting and if they do the best of luck to them. In my own opinion we are a long way off their standard.
I have heard and know a few players on the Mungret team that are on the 1A Thread and they seem to be saying how good they are. Yes in 1A, i must admit that Mungret have come alive since before x-mas, winning the last 8 games, and fair play to them. some of the players though shouldn't get carried away with themselves! pike i believe will be too strong.
They might not be up to pikes standards but I can tell you one thing pike wont have it all their own way thats for sure. Fair enough they probably win out at the end of the day but there will be two teams willing to play football. I predict a good game with no more than two goals separating the teams.:ball:
So predictions for the weekend:
Sunday 9/03/08
Bruff v Cappamore (Home Win)
Shannon v Geraldines (Home Win)
Ballynanty v Dromore (Away Win)
had one friendly in all that time against our c team,it wasn't for the want of trying to get one but it seems there is a lot of hassle going through the ldmc and that to get a fixture and also alot of tems when they have a free weeknd aren't too bothered about playing friendlies
Bruff Utd. 1 - 4 Cappamore
Noel Mooney in goals for Cappamore
Any other results?

Ballynanty OFF Dromore
Did the Dines game go ahead?
shannon town v geraldines was called off....we were there they were there but ref called it off and in all honesty it was the right decision...there was alot of surface water on the pitch
just after hearing that mungret took a fair hammering yesterday aganist pike 7-0 wonder what affect this is going to have on them for the run in??
It was a fair hammering alrite I'll admit but the story could have been different if we converted some of our pressure in the first half. We hit the crossbar and had two cleared off the line and the goals we gave away were sloppy (losing our men at set-pieces; simple stuff really), not taking away from pike they were good. In the second half alot of our players went hiding and didnt want to know about it, and from there we just basically rolled over.:( You know its not your day when you save a penalty and the rebound goes in. But fair play to pike best of luck to them in the rest of it.
Yes a hammering mungret got, 2 nil down within the first 10 minutes, it seemed that mungret gave pike too much respect and were very naive at the beginning of the game. after the second goal mungret came back into the game, pike had to clear the ball off their line and a header off the crossbar from a corner saved pike, pike had 3 chances in the first half, scored twice, mungret had 2 chances, didn't score, that was the difference. pike scored twice early into the second half, that was game over.
it will be interesting to see what happens mungret after this. talking with one of their players, they are only interested in the league and will probably continue their wining streak in 1A.
Consistency goes out the window when you are playing a team at the top of a higher division because they are use to playing at the level with a faster pace, mungret weren't yesterday, although i do believe after seeing mungret on a few ocassions this season in their own league they will continue to be consistent in their own league.

massive games this weekend,
geraldines are struggling to stay in the division and need 3 points, it'll be a dog fight sunday morning in bateman!!
I predict a draw.
Mungret v dromore will be massive for both clubs in the race for promotion. I predict a home win for mungret.
Well I must say that if Mungret are indeed the standard bearers for 1a it doesn't bode well. 7-0 to Pike is appalling. There are eams lower in the divisions that would have made a better effort. You dig in, keep it tight and show a bit of pride. Doesn't say a lot for Mungrets tenacity. They may well fall away in this league. Dromore win.
