He should probably score more goals, but they tend to be worth waiting for when they come along.

He should definitely score more goals. Sean Dyche said the same and has spoken to him about this, hence why he has been dropped.
Worth noting it was his 100th Premier League appearance too Paul. Not bad for a fella that you assured us would never play there.
He said he should score more and that he was versatile and a very hard worker, a really good team player and a good guy to have around the place. I'm not sure he said he had been dropped because he doesn't score enough.
Sean Dyche hailed his influence, on his 100th Premier League appearance: “He’s scored a few really class goals, but today was really good.
“The build up play, he got turned, finds a little ball in between, good ball into Vyds, he lays it off, and it’s a fine strike. Top drawer.
“He’s a bit unfortunate actually, Jeff, he does so many good jobs for us. Sometimes he gets questioned, and I can’t believe it, he does so many jobs for us, even today, he starts wide and comes inside, and he’s a top lad around the place, and a very good player, in my opinion.
He scored a very good goal today.
Hendrick hasn’t started in the Premier League this season, but Dyche is delighted with his attitude: “A big week for him, but he trains right, he’s good around the group, he’s not a moaner - he asks a question, don’t get me wrong, he’ll ask ‘what can I do, why aren’t I playing?’ and he’s really affected the game.
Jay Rod came on sharp. Vyds looked sharp, running hard to affect the game, and that’s all we can ask when we make substitutions, that they come on with the will and desire to affect the game. That was what was missing second half, we got into that mode where everyone is waiting for someone else to do something. No one could quite grip the game or find the moment to affect it.
Even if we hadn't found an equaliser, I would have still thought we affected it.”
Dyche believes Hendrick can add more goals to his game: “Now and again he gets questioned but I think he can affect the game in so many different ways.
The biggest thing I have spoken to him about is scoring more goals, he is a big lad who can head it and strike it. I want him to add to that side of the game. I thought all three of the subs did well, I was pleased with that."
Hendrick's lack of starts this season might be down to Dyche's approach of keeping a consistent team. The guy picks his best XI and is very reluctant to change it. If you're out in the cold there it can be a long wait for your next chance.

Linked with a move to AC Milan

Timing is everything in life.
2020 is just trying too hard to be weird now!
Joking aside, it would be great to see him get a move like that. Serie A isn't quite at the level of old, and I could see him doing very well for himself there.
I think it is a fanciful link and would be great if true.
I don't think he has become the player he could have been for Ireland or Burnley so a change of scenery is no harm and a new coaching environment at the age of 28.
I am just really surprised it is AC Milan offering him the opportunity, if that is the case.
If this goes through the Gary Breen one will fade away into deep folklore ! ! !
Silly season or a sign that even the big name clubs will be looking for bargains for the forseeable future? He may not a world beater but a Premier League regular is well able for the Serie A. If there's any truth in it he's young enough to make a go of it.
I just want to hear him attempting Italian
i actually think the burnley move was terrible for Jeff. With respect to the good work that Sean Dyche has done, Jeff has had to adapt his game to fit to what Dyche wants. And in that adaptation, Jeff has removed from his game most of the qualities that a footballing side would want.
If you think of his performances for Trap and up until Euro 2016, he was bright and energetic, he could go past a player, he showed quick feet and invention and could pick a pass. Under Dyche, it's been all about winning headers in the final third, being the first to the loose ball and recycling it to a winger or a deeper midfielder. It's like all the creative instincts he had didn't fit the system at club level. And he hasn't been able to switch systems easily from club to country...
In a team that plays football on the ground and will have more possession — it could really suit him. As mentioned, I don’t think he’s really built for the Burnley system or for what we were doing for much of the O’Neill/McCarthy eras. A lot of us have an overly inflated view of what Milan’s level is — they’ve dropped off in recent years and Hendrick would be equipped to be a key component for them.
I know it is apples and oranges in some regards but Hendrick wasn't able to be a key component for Burnley. That's why people are surprised regarding Milan.
His performance against the Italians in our final group match of Euro 2016 is what is behind this move. That season he was unable to keep his place in the side at Derby yet thoroughly dominated the Italian midfield that day. Fair play to him and I hope he gets paid well and makes a success of himself at one of the world's biggest clubs.
I doubt AC Milan are really signing a player on the basis of a match four years ago?
It is hard to figure out why they'd be interested in him when he hasn't really played very well for Burnley, especially over the last year.
I would agree with Colbert’s assessment. It came to my mind as well. It’s the only thing that makes sense. And it was the kind of match that would stick in the memory for any Italian watching.
He's a free agent - that tends to trump form in a lot of cases. Signing him would be fairly low-risk for a club that's a bit strapped at the moment. That said, the same is true for any English club that wants to sign him and I'd be surprised if he left for less money in Italy.

In the end Newcastle or the like will just double his wages and he will stay in England
being linked with Roma in this morning's papers
Is his Agent Stranded In Italy ?
It could be that having been linked with one of them, the others have taken a look. Free is good sauce.
It is possibly just his agent releasing rumours to bump up the perception of demand to help with negotiations.
I would guess the most likely explanation is that the papers invent the majority of these rumours, and having been linked with one Italian club, it's an obvious rumour to invent.
In around 2014 (maybe 2013 or 2015), I recommended him to someone working for a mid to lower table Bundesliga club.
The person didn’t have any power to make the decision at all, but was able to have meaningful conversations with the person making the decisions. He was available for under £2m and I argued that he was undervalued and there were players in the championship who could do a job in the Bundesliga.
After his performances in Euro 2016 and when he was sold to for £13m to Burnley, I felt vindicated...
He's walked out on Burnley, could face serious legal ramifications along with Aaron Lennon, Phil Bardsley and Joe Hart, who have all refused to see out their existing contracts which don't expire until June 30.
Anything I read from the Burnley manager was blaming the higher ups at the club for letting it get to this. If the club didn't offer him anything, or they couldn't agree one, why should he risk getting crocked ? All he has to say is he had a temperature and a bit of a cough anyway and all the 'legal ramifications' go up in smoke.
Wherever he goes after this I hope it is a club that suits his style of play more. It's unfortunate that two of our more cultured players, in Hendrick and Brady, have been playing in a Burnley team that doesn't play much quality football. Although, to be fair, Ireland haven't played much quality football either in the last few years.
I think Hendrick could actually be a good fit to Kenny's style of play but it would help if he's playing a similar way regularly at club level.
There's far more to that story I imagine
There's a twitter rumor that he's being offered another deal, a full new deal.

Burnley. Hendrick has now been offered a deal. Yet to sign it. But at least it’s an effort by the money men ...
I find it unbelievable that someone would refuse to honor their contact. Both Hendrick and Brady have been eligible to sign pre-contract agreements since January 1 but have not done so, choosing to run the clock down. What would be the difference between refusing to play these fixtures if they took place back in March or April? They are both under contract until June 30, not May 5.
You've never given an employer notice and immediately went on holiday? (And this is their normal holiday period!) You've never swung the lead on your last week at a job?
What's your point here? They should have signed for someone else and spent the last six months swinging the lead? I doubt it does much for a player's motivation to perform at an elite level if he knows he's leaving. The club has had years to negotiate a new contract; they haven't.Quote:

6 days left vs 90 days is a 1500% difference.Quote:

Three months of access to an elite sports club's medical staff and facilities, and three months to recover before potentially failing a fitness test for a contract worth millions of quid. What do you want from Hendrick? Go out an bust a nut and risk millions for a company that's told him they don't rate him enough to pay him what he's worth?
Notions of honour and all that are all well and good, but a wealthy corporation doesn't give a **** about you any more than they are required by law to. Some of that comes back around once in a while.

Maybe he had been taking flying lessons?

Burnley have confirmed that Jeff Hendrick will depart the club when his contract expires on 30 June.
The Republic of Ireland midfielder was among a group of players left out of the Premier League club's matchday squad for the defeat at Manchester City on Monday, with manager Sean Dyche citing the contract situation of those whose deals were on the point of expiration.
"The club was unable to agree terms on a new deal with the Republic of Ireland international," Burnley confirmed on their official website on Wednesday.
