I look forward to dancing on their qualification grave. :)

the absolute cheek of the FAIlure to say that limerick taking this action may effect soccer is this country, if they let limerick play the friendly last july, soccer in munster would have got a huge boost, therefore the FAI would have got a boost instead they made up every excuse under the sun as to why the game couldnt go ahead while resulted in the fai damaging there own name!!Quote:

This just in from the FAI:
FAI Statement
Monday, January 31, 2010
The Football Association of Ireland today (Jan 31) confirmed to the High Court that it and Limerick FC have agreed to enter mediation. The FAI regrets that money spent on this course of action will be lost to the sport. What is decided during the mediation process with Limerick FC could have broader ramifications for the funding and development of football at all levels.
ENDS
there is absolutely no one to blame for this mess other than the fai, they made there own bed by not allowing this game to go ahead and now they have to lie in it!! i really hope the high court screws the fai to the wall!!it might actually wake up the barstoolers and make them realise that the fai only cares about money and not football!!
That is one of the funniest things the FAI have come out with in a long time.
go get em Limerick!! :) This one could be a lot of fun!
The truth should emerge soon enough - a Transition Year student on work experience was in temporary charge of the FAI during this period, and no one noticed the difference in the signatures on the memos coming from John Delaney's office.
well to be quiet honest the majority of statements that come from the FAI seem like they were taken from a random child who hasnt a clue whats going on!! there is often very little sense to anything that comes from the FAI!!Quote:

hahaha its most definitely not an apology, the FAI will not appologise untill they are forced too through the courts!!!and i for one cannot wait to laugh at delaney and his cronies when they do eventually admit it was all there fault!!Quote:

Is this an apology?

SOCCER: THE FAI were obliged yesterday to agree to arbitration with Limerick over its decision last May to refuse the club permission for a fund-raising friendly game against Barcelona at Thomond Park.
The association had sought to keep the dispute in-house but finally agreed to go to arbitration under the 2010 Act after the club, which claimed its attempts to progress the case had previously been ignored, had sought to have the High Court direct it to do so.
Maurice Collins SC, who overruled the league when asked to consider its handling of a dispute which arose when Bohemians fielded a player who should have been suspended in 2006, will oversee the process.
Limerick, it is believed, will contend the FAI should be prohibited under competition law from banning the playing of friendly games in venues with a capacity of 15,000 or more. This effectively leaves it in control of the only ground in the country where such games could be played.
The bit about seeking to keep the dispute in-house is nonsense as the FAI did not respond to Limerick's requests for any kind of mediation until the last 48 hours. By keeping it in-house they must mean that the FAI just hoped it would all go away.
The only way Limerick and the case could affect the ability to generate and distribute funds is if Limerick win the arbitration meaning the FAI where in the wrong. They are definitely getting more worried now.Quote:
The FAI last night issued a statement acknowledging it had agreed to the arbitration process but warning that the outcome of the process could have implications for its ability to generate and distribute funds. It has previously put the value to it of the annual Endemol run tournament at €1 million a year.
It sums the FAI up that a LOI club has to go to the high court just to get some correspondence and acknowledgment from them.
Bits in quite a few papers about this - the Star has a full page devoted to it with a picture of the naughty , arbitration-seeking Limerick money-grabbers who are hell-bent on ruining the FAI and football in this country. Disappointing to see nothing about it on extratime.ie. Nothing on RTE about it, unsurprisingly.
The papers generally reported it quite well - I thought they made Limerick's case seem quite reasonable.
Please please please, if there is a god, etc.
Limerick will win (hopefully)
& Delaney will be gone (wishful thinking)
for the good of :ball:
Little tidbit from the Times yesterday:

Endemol Sport, whose parent company brought the world the television show Big Brother, were the reason Limerick City were prevented from hosting Barcelona last summer.
Limerick City were prevented from hosting Barcelona?!
No wonder Pat Graces' masterplan never came off.
If anything Limerick City left Limerick FC hanging.
Correct CD wheras arbitration is where some party makes a decision on who was right and who was wrong. If the option is mediation then a "win win" result is sought so no chance of Lims winning (most likely outcome is FAI chuck them a few bob and no public statement on outcome).
Personally would much prefer an independent arbitration in this case, not holding my breath though.
The process of independent arbitration has started, with Michael Collins the arbitrator appointed by the High Court. (He was involved in a Bohs court case with the FAI a few years ago I think, and ruled against the FAI). Mediation is running at the same time, but I'm assuming (and that's all it is) that if Limerick are not happy with whatever they're offered/whatever compromise is sought, then they can take the chance that the arbitrator, who has the power to award costs and compensation, will find in their favour.
According to todays Star Limerick and the FAI have come to an agreement that Limerick can hold 1 high profile friendly a year at Thomond Park with a full capacity of 26,000 for the next ten years once it is not within ten days of the Dublin Super Cup.
Sounds suspiciously fair...?
Sounds like an admission that the FAI where wrong to stop it last year. It may be an unfair decision on other clubs but it was unfair what happened Limerick last year and none of the clubs stood behind Limerick then so as far as we are concerned we don't care if it is unfair on other clubs. Would think most clubs would think the same if they where in this situation. It does open a huge can of worms though.
Congrats to Limerick FC on what apears a good result for them but will the FAI be amending their contract with "a third party" to "No friendlies over 15000 capacity except one each year by Limerick FC" ? that should sort it out, until of course another club gets the chance to line up a lucrative friendly.............
Can't wait to see Stephen O'Flynn head butt Messi
(A) What is the Dublin Super Cup?
(B) What relevance does it have to when Limerick play a friendly?
To save any further hassle with this situation:
Any club that wants to hold a lucrative friendly can send a letter in writing to Limerick FC requesting permission. I'm sure Limerick FC will be obliging and can work something out with clubs wanting to do this. A cut of any profits brought in from said friendlies will be needed of course.
Makes sense to me anyway.
(A) National day of adoration for John Delaney (support acts this year include Celtic, inter Milan, man city and an Irsih League select apparently) to be held in the AVIVA Stadium
(B) anything or anyone that detracts from the national day of adoration is the epitome of evil and must be cast out.
The ads around Aviva Stadium for the last set of internationals did apparently
Great result for Limerick FC - fair play to them for standing up to Delaney on this one
:ball:
Now let's hope they can get 10 really good money-spinning friendlies out of this & use the income wisely
I hope so too. Can't see them having top ones every year though. Hopefully Barca will agree to come again after all the hassle Limerick went through to sort this out. I would be worried about getting friendlies against the likes of Celtic or poorer premier teams. There is no way we would fill Thomond Park for the likes of Sunderland. If the friendlies are to go ahead it would have to be worth our while financially. There was word of Inter but even at that I don't think Thomond Park would sell out.
There was a time when Waterford and Cork Hibs almost filled Thomond Park for big cup ties.
There are very few clubs that will now except maybe Barca and the top English sides.
The ads for the Dublin Super Cup defrinitely stated an Irish League XI but then if you are bringing the 2nd best teams from Milan, Manchester and Glasgow why not the 2nd best league side on the island?
might seem like a silly question but that sounds to me like it could be ten days either side of the Dublin Super Cup (oooh sparkly!) which in effect would be 20 days or 3 weeks of the "friendly season" that Limerick cannot host a high profile friendly. The compromise may be more restrictive to Limerick than it first seems.
edit: Its more than likely not what was intended but it might help to,erm, clarify...
sorry, i also meant to add my heartiest congratulations to the good folk of Limerick FC for standing up to the foppish git and his cohorts and cronies :)
unless of course limerick decide when the dublin cup takes place :o
Well done to Limerick for taking on those c*nts and winning.
It was an absolute disgrace what happened.
In saying that, they still shouldve told delaney and company to go f*** themselves with the 10 day restriction thing
