Blackstone 1 - 2 Macroom
Welcome to Premier A football - Not sure if any neutrals watched this game but if they did i'd be interested to hear their opinion - to be honest we started very well in this game and got caught on the break in the 15th minute - we played good football throughout and I thought we stretched macroom a lot - we created numerous chances but didnt take them - We equalised just after the start of the second half - We were pushing for a second when we were again caught on the break - Cant really criticise anyone of our players to be honest - thought everyone did very well - just need to be more clinical in front of goal and we'll be fine - i think the macroom management were surprised by what they saw - losing Jason Forde through injury the night before was a big loss - he gives us that something extra
Glen Celtic 3 Park Utd 2
A good start for The Glen in a section where all points picked up will be very important come next may. Am working today so just got the info from one of the lads. We went 1 down and Brendan Long equalised from the penalty spot. Shane Hurley put us 2-1 up with a header. Park made it 2-2 late in the second half and Hurley scored the winner with a rocket into the top corner from outside the box with a few minutes remaining. Roll on Mayfield next Sunday Morning.;)
Our B team won 4-0 today against richmond. great start to the season lets hope we can push on from this
Great win for Blarney Street down in Coachford. I noticed casilles had been quiet on here all summer and I was wondering if Blarney Street were quietly going about their business and not talking themselves up. I think they could be in for a really good season this year. If it hadnt been for a terrile start last year they could have challenged.
I assume they have brought in one or two players, not that casilles seems to be willing in letting us know, maybe littleman will know.
Good result for Grattan but I think we would have expected them to win this one at home.
Kinsale and Leeside a draw. Leeside probably the happier here I suppose. I think avoiding defeat is important in your opening game so maybe Kinsale arent too disappointed earlier.
Blackstone probably a bit disappointed, but losing Jason Forde was probably a huge loss for them.
AUL1 Grangevale 2 - Postal Celtic 1
tough game played in terrible conditions.... We went one up after an hour, Postal equalised with 15 to go. We were awarded & scored a pen in the 88th min to win 2-1. Delighted to get off to a winning start:D
Thats what we found last year making the step up from first division to premier A, we were dominating teams and end up losing one nil, I'd even say that the standard of football is the same its just Premier A teams are more clinical in front of goal. We won 2-1 against Rylane this morning, shocking weather, even our pitch which usually holds upwell, partly due to our "drainage system" cut up bad, were missing seven players so a good 3 points against a decent team.
couple of changes in blackstone personel from last year., jason forde a huge loss yesterday. whos new and who have they lost
It's going to be tough with so many games (26 in the league alone) but we have kept everyone from last year and added a few more so we'll be hoping for at least top 4/5 if we can keep everyone fit.... some might say it's a optimistic but we have anice mix of youth & experience so we're looking forward to it... what about yourselves?http://foot.ie/forums/../inc/img/icons/foot.ie.gif
How are we pacman nice to hear from you:D
Iv been quiet because im away with work all summer wont be home till mid Oct. but been keeping uptodate with comings and goings. Well as is well known Derek stepped down and a few left but we have a new managment in place who talking to the lads has brought his own ideas to the table, 24 signed and numbers are high for training, cit i hear is where were playing but dont quote me on that yet{ started down in pfizers but for the price journey and the set up it wasnt worth it} We will give it our bests ad usual and witha bit of luck we might be in the shack up hpoefully come the new year, which i think most teams would be happy with. Had an awful start last year 1 point from 12 so a good start is defentily needed. any ways best of luck to all clubs and hopefully we will all enjoy the good the bad and whatever comes in between;)
Hello lads,I donr mean to have a rant or even a cranky comment but please excuse me as I have a few little thigs to address.
1st, my very sincere appoligies to the Park lads if the showers were up to scratch Saturday, anyone who knows me will know I have always taken great pride in making sure the travelling side are well treated,we only have our dressin rooms a week, teethin problems are still bein dealt with.
2nd,why when teams win or lose are they always missin the usual 3 or 4 regulars, its the first game of the season..You have been waitin for 2months for this so if ya miss it why make the excuse u have lads out,you win look forward to the next one,you lose look forward to the next one. From each ya learn somtin.
3rd. Personally again Cork is a small place an if a really good player went from one club or league to another then it would be on this site first thing wether truth or rumor. Example ,,,,,,,,,,Cans is back with the Gratts if ya follow me. To finish if a club is seen ti be quiet its one of 2 answers,1 they have nothin to brag about,,,,,,2,,,,,,,,,,their bluffin,,,,,,,guess we will have to wait an see whos bluffin,,,;,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Our manager Conor Foley decided to give football a break for a bit and we were lucky enough to get Vincent Forde & Kieran Tagney in.
Players out:
Gary Pegler, Kevin O Sullivan, Ken Lee, Colin Hourigan, Tony Dunlea, Mark Allen, Michael Twohig, Mark Henchin, Johnny Sheehan, Terry Mc Sweeney
3 of those left at the end of the season, the rest were during the campaign.
Players in:
Colin Keane, Ian Murphy, David Goggin, Greg Twomey, Ivan Skillington, John Forde, Mark O Mahony, Paul Hayes, Paul Luxford,
6 made their debut in the panel the other day.
seriously littleman - could you please articulate your comment properly?
The first part I can understand - part 2 and 3 look like an attack on people?
(not saying iits me!!)
I could have come on here and said we were missing Paul Hayes , Warren Forde, DODs . Llyod Leahy and Jason Forde plus Mark O Mahoney but i didnt - do i think they could have made a big difference - yes i do - but do i know if macroom were missing any then the answer is no - however i did know that certain clubs were going to suffer due to electric picnic. lads as we all know there are fellas in clubs who dont give a toss - and tell you at the last minute they will be missing
People come on here Littleman to give their opinion - i try to be as honest as I can without
1 - getting myself in trouble
and
2 giving too much away
but i do realise people are entitled to their opinion and stating people were missing is their right!!! the same as it is yours to express your opinion
On a totally seperate note my username is OLACHICO - thats O L A C H I C O
Cas,someone passed a comment about the Street not bein very vocal any more an you didnt so boo,I passed a general comment, you then decide its about your club.Thats bein a bit paranoid, someone asked a question about your club, there quite entitled to,if they got no answer there then quite entitled to think what ever they want.
For me I'm more interested in the players that have left clubs since last season than the ones they have signed, because as I have all ready said Corks a small place an we'd hear if anything major was happening player wise.
I'm not into draggin clubs or players into open conversation, any comments made are just observations with regards to the bigger picture, the games themselves.
By the way the Killer B's got done Sunday mornin,2/1 up an lost 2/5 to Strand.Rained start to finish .
Horse , hope its nothin serious with Jason.
OLACHAIO, I did my leaving cert ok an got a B plus in English but I didnt bother going on to collage to do my journalism degree so please forgive me if my strucuture and that other big word you used arent up to scratch.
I will do my best in future to ensure all my comments are easy to follow.
Littleman,
After agreeing so many times in a row, we were bound to diagree on something!
On the refs thing, I get what your saying about the dispute resolution, but, it aint over until its over, so I would like to keep it live.
You and others commented on guys mentioning missing players. i think it actually helps us understand the result more. - If they are missing some, it doesnt take from the win of the opposition, but it lets us know that maybe the true team may not have been out. The again, we all know that soemtimes the bare 11 play a better game than a full squad - eg our game against Wilton last year.
Poor Mr Olachico disnt take our defeat well it seems...........I like that!!!
Tried to log in for ages but it seems i'm the one spelling my username wrong all this time!
Littleman I wasnt suggesting that you do your journalism degree - I'm aware that sometimes my posts can be long winded and lose the point but that one was downright impossible to understand - if you have something to say just say it - if you have something to say about someone or a club just say it
That one just seemed like a bit of a riddle
Littleman i enjoy reading your posts and value your opinion as someone who has been a player , secretary and manager in the AUL and sorry if you are offended but half the posters on here probably thought you were having a dig with that post
I'm leaving it there now and moving on!!
On a side note - Castleview didnt play Leeds in the Premier A - something to do with the pitch - was it water logged or what?? This game was to be played on Saturday - did anyone hear anything??
Casement 6-0 Lakewood. Great result at home for our juniors after Barry Peelo predicted an away win . Great result for us away to Everton also. Good weekend for all at Casement :)
Lads, just a quick comment about our game yesterday, after all the shenanigans lately with refs dispute etc. I must say that the man in the middle for our game v Postal delivered a top class performance, spoke to players when needed, played advantage when it should be played and generally went about his business very effectively allowing both teams to try to play ball as teams should be allowed to do. There was a few yellows issued for verbal which neither team could really complain about but hopefully more of the same going forward.
Look lads I'm not stuipid enough to think everybody will agree with my posts. So Im prepared for an respect the posts that my not agree with what I post.
Olachaio, not everything is aimed at a person or club, its about the way I see the game in general.Personally I couldnt care less who signs for who,Im very happy with the players signed for us.
The ref Sat for us Mr Pat Buckley had a good game too,2 or 3 bookings each side, but all for descent.Have to work on that for next week.
The one who did the B game Sunday, well not so good.He covered everyblade of grass in the center circle though, haha.
Heard nothin about the Castleview game though.
Any one catch any of the village /glenthorn game
Any rumors about the Aul managers job.
Alright Lads, It seems everyone seems to be getting very touchy with the season only begining, we had a poor start ourselves a one nil defeat, but I am not too downbeat as I know there are a lot more twists and turns this year. Would be interested in hearing more news from division 1A!
the castleview game v leeds didnt go ahead because the view had requested a free weekend.
alright lads sorry for short absence i will explain as the post goes along...pacman at blarney streets agm it was decided that we were going to try and keep things in house as much as possible this season.to be honest i agreed at the time as at one stage we had 3-4 guys posting last season and all the players were reading it and maybe reading too much into it... i am no longer actively involved with the street so thats why im back here and looking forward to it...littleman we may not have too much to brag about but i can assure the streets absence on this site has nothing to do with them bluffing...big difference in trying to be a bit more professional than bluffing....pacman they have signed a few..spoke with few of the lads and they have a new keeper who is supposed to be very good and i believe niall dalton also signed..apparently played very well on sat down in coachford and could be a big addition for them..there is afew more but unfortunetly the names escape me now...looking forwrd to going out watching few games at my leisure this year without the pressure..best of luck to everyone
I will not condone what our player did - but your player was hardly blameless - he started it and provoked the retaliation. Both deserved their red cards! From your report it would seem that their was an incident - the kinsale player was out of order - but somehow 2 got sent off. Try to remain somewhat unbiased.
Well Guys
Not the best of starts to the season for us last weekend.First team beaten well by Grattan and B's beaten 3-2 by Glen Celtic.
Grattan 2-0 Park
Unfortunately due to work commitments i couldnt make this game. Was looking forward to this game especially with the new set up in O Neill Park.
From what i was told Littleman, everything about the facilities were superb and well done for this. Its great to see more and more teams expanding and building on.In this day and age its a pure joke getting changed in portacabins with no showers.
Played some good football but had no answer to the Gratts.Strong in every position and played some great football. Our polish striker Swalvik had our best chance when his over head kick came back off the bar.Had our near starting 11 for this so a lot of work to be done.
Another tough game on Saturday vs Kinsale.
Glen Celtic 3 - 2 Park B
Sorry lads,i see alot of ye complementing the refs over the weekend but anyone at this game will have seen probably the worst performance from any fella in the middle.
We took the lead through Brendan Wiley after 20 minutes. The Glen equalised 10 minutes later but was ruled out for offside, although their striker was at least 3/4 yards on-side.
The second half was 3 minutes old when Glen's midfielder took a long range shot. The ball came off the hand of Glen's midfielder and somehow the ref deemed it hit our player and gave a penalty.Every one was amazed including the Glen players.Their midfielder made no mistake.
Glen went 2-1 up.Another offside? definitly this time.
We pulled it back to 2-2 shortly after but there was another twist when Glen's winger hit a screamer into the top corner 3-2.
Moments later the long whistle blew.I approached the Ref straight after thinking it was a very short half.He showed me his watch and it read 39:44.I asked since when are we playing 35 mins a side and he runs away with no answer.
These kind of mistakes can change a season for any team.Lets hope we have a bit more luck next week.
I know there is a MJC discussion page but here is the Cork section of the draw...

i will always remain unbiased, i look after the schoolboy section in the club and was there saturday as a spectator, not involved with the team. ya both deserved to be sent off, was a late challenge by our player but did not deserve the head butt. sayin that ye did have 6-0 in the yellow card section i think.
Castleview in the first round and a potential date with Grattan in the second!! I doubt there's a tougher draw out there!
1-1 with leeside on saturday. A poor game and horrible for the neutral. We had chances in the first half but didn't take them. Second was just a non event with the teams cancelling eachother out. Bar the sending off incident I didn't think it was a nasty game. Was the yellow card count 6-0? I cant remember. What did you think of the ref bluey?
Our club President Denis O'Neill, fondly known as "Dinny Pops" passed away this morning.
A legend has gone to take his place at the top table but he will live on forever within our hearts an our club.
Cant belive he's gone,,,,,,,,,rest in peace Dinny
spoke to a ballincollig player today and he said they were well beaten by a very strong and much changed ballyvolane side. rebelhead i think is a member of that club, any truth in that.
Rest In Peace Dinny.
Rest in peace dinny
Littleman I extended my condolences on yer great loss didnt know the man myself but from the stories iv heard he was a great club servant, also barry kelleher would like to offer his condolences too.
Condolences to all at Grattan on your loss
God Bless Dinny - its like he waited for the dressing rooms to arrive.
Streetscene, welcome back. No way would you have the time man, personal experience with one little dude tells me that!! I will leave you a ticket on the gate at Monard any day you want. I have the image of Casilles staring at the PC, sweat pouring off him, not being allowed to post!!
Sometimes I dont get that "you must stay quiet" thing. I dont think we gained anything in advance of our FAI game against ye from this site. We knew who yer players were and what to expect. Some people in our club have said the same over the years about paper reports. In the league, you have 9 teams to watch. If your manager worries about the other team, then Cork is a small enough place to get your info anyway.
It is ironic Parkboy, on the day it comes out that our paths may cross in the MJC, (not taking Passage or Kilreen lightly in any way - both strong sides from what I have seen and heard during pre-season), that you mention facilities.
Without being insulting or knowing your history within your club, it smacks of a guy who has never seen "hard times". I dont know how old Park are, how long you have been with them, or, how long their facilities have been at their current high standard (I havent seen them, but, even reading it on here), but, every club has got to start somewhere. As we enter our second decade, I have just returned from our weekly meeting, where 90% seems to be about money and lack thereof. We are not without high quality facilities because we choose to be.
We are in a better position as a club than we were 5 years ago, not by much, but better, none the less.
In 5 years time, we hope to be even further along the road. During these rocky economic times, it is even harder to get finance, but, we have plans and dreams. I hope we never get to the stage where we forget where we are now.
Littleman sorry to hear about Dinny Pops - never met the man but read about him in the 50 years of the AUL book - hard when a club legend dies - I hope there will be a fitting tribute to commemorate him - nice to see he got to be there when the dressing rooms were opened
On the subject of facilities - having been with Hibs from an early age I knew the days of togging out in Portacabins - they now have dressing rooms there - not huge but a permanent structure with showers - it takes time - i do believe the satellite towns and country teams have an advantage when it comes to this - they arent competing for fundraising or land around the city!
The funny thing is the showers in Hibs were rarely used by anyone even when they were there!!
3 years ago while managing Hibs we played a 57 minute first half in a match - when i pointed it out to the ref he said he hadnt and that he always moves his watch to the hour mark when he was starting the match so he could clearly see the 45 minutes - only thing was I hadnt touched my watch and the phone said the same time so it was quiet obvious he had played 57 minutes!!
