One that was out of use for a couple of seasons but I think may be back is the Lisnagry pitch. More sand than grass, sidelines about 2 feet from the nettles and trees and a one foot high ledge where one of the goal lines should be.

Played the 4b divisional cup last night against St Pats lost 1-0 but the game can be described as a farce complete joke....
that pitch was a disgrace, i'm sorry if there are St Pats people on here but that pitch was horrendus.. it made good footballers look stupid , it was a horrible game to watch... best of luck in the next round if you have home advantage you have great chance to go to the final

Didnt get the result of the Moyross and Murroe game.
Yeah thats pretty crap too. Actually greenhills too with their manhole covers.
Eh, what about Glenview's pitch. Worst pitch in the history of football.
I agree with Jock, the pitch is quite poor. The league seriously needs to look at this pitch as a venue. Unfair on other clubs.
i wonder is there anything that the ldmc could do though some of the above pitches have been bad for years
Looking forward to the semi final sidecutter? Should be a good game!
Lisnagry - played it last week not the greatest
Newport - never played it so can't comment
Bruff - when wet terrible pitch but least its flat
St Pats - a joke there is space there to move to side and least be semi flat
St Pauls - one of the few pitches i have kick a ball out of defence and don't see it land because of the slope :D
Kilteely - never played it
Cals 1, 2 & 3 - Cals 1 is ok never played 2 and 3 but suspect there bad when wet
Summerville - never played
Shelbourne Maternaty field - thats not bad its flat and you can play football on
Bateman Park - played once but when played it was ok but expect better pitch for premier team
once again if the grass was cut on this pitch it would be ok cause its flat, my point is the pitches we should be playing on must be as close to flat as possible and i don't know how we allow ourselves to play on pitches like St Pats , Glenview etc which don't allow you play any decent football
Ask Old Keeper these questions, he's with the LDMC and St Pats:rolleyes:
waste of time, because they probably don't think they have bad pitch... was in town at weekend and lad from st pats .. who recognised me from holycross.. while chatting said the pitch was not bad. i couldn't believe he thought that way.. but i suppose most teams from each of the pitches mentioned think that there pitch is grand cause they have played on it for so long
Hi jock
You should know better!
If you ask me a question you will get an honest answer.
The pitch is bad and very difficult to play on. we do have room on the side and that area was the main pitch. we had some refs play games in dire weather and destroyed the pitch. the club had no option but to switch to this layout. anyone who knows the area or played us a few times knows the current pitch is a temporary one.
I also agree that there should be a minimum standard required of pitches for LDL games and clubs that fall below this should lose home advantage
does anyone have results today from Division 1b missed the results on Radio?
Hi Jock, you might have heard at this stage but Prospect beat Knockainey 1-0 and Kilmallock drew 2-2 with Fairview. Still leave ye in with a shout.

Met Jimmy on Sunday morning watching a game and told us a good story. He was reffing at Abbey recently when a sub came on. He checked for usual rings and chains and all was ok. A couple of minutes later the player got the ball and ran up the right when he stopped and took a mobile out of his shorts and answered it and completely ignored the game going on. Said he wanted to book him but never got his number...boom boom.
last night  !!
How many league games left now Larry??

well done shels in promotion but all i can say about lower divsion soccer its the most frustrating i have ever been involved in... the lack of games the massive gaps between games... it is truly and utterly being killed off... what should we do..
well hope things can be different next season..
some of my ideas and others i hope
1. larger leagues premier 1a 1b 2a 2b stay and then you have division 3 and 4 which is 3a and 3b put together and 4a and 4b put together
2. one week division 3 play and next week divsion 4 play don't think people mind if they play every two weeks rather than every fifth week or sixth week
3. introduction of two new divisional cups larger competition with more teams
am i being mad or are they ideas easily implemented
3b league.
ST.Pauls 0 Herbertstown 3.d town are promoted.
Rumour has it that the divisions will be joined as you said above. Each divison will have 16 teams, but you only play each other once. Apparently, this is how it used to be. This means you would get only one extra league game a season. Also, you could be unlucky and have your away games in places like St Pats and St Pauls that have terrible pitches.
It would make more sense to have 3 divisions instead of the 4. There are 32 teams in bottom 4 divisions this season. If you had 2 divisions of 11 and 1 division of 10, everybody could then have their home and away games.
Plus what Shels said is right about the home or away ficture. If you played every team only once who decides where it is played? Is there a draw? Is it done in Jackman behind closed doors? Home and away is the only fair way.
Definitely agree on the extra cups though. Our A team play more league games, FAI, MFA, Lawson and their divisional cup. The B team pay the same fee to the LDMC for less league games and less cups. How is that fair?
Main problem for any planned changes is that clubs are still entering and pulling teams up to a week or two before the season starts.
Hi Please make sure your clubs are aware of this, it's your chance to propose changes to all those rules you guys keep telling me are silly!
The Limerick district league would like to remind clubs that any nominations for positions in the league or any proposed rule changes MUST be submitted in writing on or before the 29th April for consideration by the committee. All nominees must be nominated by a minimum of 2 clubs, all nominations must be on club headed notepaper and must be signed by the chairman and secretary of the club. Details of the date and location of the League AGM will be published shortly.
Please not that the LDL committee will not meet on Tuesday next as the league is playing the Desmond league in the Oscar Traynor, the meeting has been switched to Monday at 7pm players and clubs who wish to see the committee are asked to attend after 9pm.
