Spot on observation, but my worry is that players of this type sometimes dont fulfill their potential. Liam O'Brien was another physically imposing midfielder with good touch and a great passing range who never quite made it. More recently Darren Potter was regarded as an outstanding prospect at Liverpool, but seemed to lack the mentality to impose himself on a game and make an impact. I hope Gibson makes the step up, but it will be hard for him to be assertive when he is surrounded by players with big reputations.
Not sure if this has been posted before but it's a wee BBC Newsline piece on the eligibility row from a couple of days ago.

FIFA are expected to make very clear cut on 20th March.
Doubt it will be accepted in the unionist mentaility of the IFA though.
We'll see what happens then I guess.
Manchester United play Fulham in the FA Cup at Craven Cottage tomorrow (sat). The match is on ITV1 with a 5.15pm kick off.
For anyone interested, I'd say there's a good chance that Gibson will play at some stage. He may even start - fingers crossed!

Gibson is not in the squad for the match today against Fulham. Oh well........
Yeah, they're resting Ronaldo and Gibson ahead of the Inter game :)

Gibson will more than likely be on the bench against Aston Villa (Sunday 4pm).
I'll give an update when the match-day squads are announced.
Gibson is on the bench for United against Villa (4pm) - just been announced.
Given United's injury problems, the bench is fairly lean so hopefully Gibson will get brought on at some stage.
In addition, John O'Shea starts at centre back.
Gibson got on for the last 3/4 minutes.............. wayhay!
Someone told me Gibson may be starting in the semi-final tomorrow- can anyone give me confirmation of this?
Gibson starts in centre midfield, in a much changed line up for United - just been confirmed.
Pre-match build up on ITV1 now, match starts at 4 pm.
This is a big stage for him - wish him luck!
Appears to be a 4 3 3, with Gibson, Anderson and Park in midfield. Second appearance at Wembley for Gibson!!
Foster
Rafael Vidic Ferdinand Fabio
Anderson Gibson Park
Tevez Welbeck Macheda
really hope he does play well good luck Darren
He's playing very well
Nice top corner shot there by Gibson from the edge of the box. The goalkeeper had to put it out for a corner.
Best player on the pitch at the moment
Struggling with cramp at the moment in my opinion.
No subs left for Manchester United. Gibson will take a penalty if it goes that far.
Gibson played well nothing outstanding but did pretty much everything else right. hope trap is watching or at least see's the dvd
OK game from him. Didn't do too much wrong but didn't do anything spectacular either. 6/10.
Will he get his penalty :D?
Manchester United only got to take four penalties, they lose 4-2.
Cant be worse than berbatov anyway:)
The lad had a solid game. Did well sitting in midfield and had one great shot. Corners could have been a bit better and he seemed to tire a lot towards the end of the game - but that's probably expected, seeing as he hasn't exactly played loads of 90+ minute games. Hopefully he can build on his performance and start breaking into the first team next season.
Berbatov really let the side down in the short time he was on. His penalty was nothing short of embarassing.....at least Ferdinand went for a corner!
