Really tense finish, but it wasn't to be.
Potentially better for Irish football this way anyway.
Good to see Sheridan in European action at least. Win-win, i think.
Better chance of UCD qualifying for Europe now; UEFA Youth League. We need Legia to reach the groups again and also to win the underage league (they're in the semis now)
Ok, it'd be a tiny benefit, but realistically so would Sheridan in the CL.
I think Stu's looking out for the UCD under-age team: http://foot.ie/threads/217098-League...=1#post1921108
:)
Not inconceivable there's a future international in there too. Be good experience for them. Boyle and Sammon started the same way

Sheridan played a significant part in the build-up to Jagiellonia's second goal.
Kind of messed up the pass! Poznan's second goal was class.
Jagiellonia play away in Georgia on Thursday in the first leg of their Europa League first qualifying round tie against Dinamo Batumi. Kick-off is at 17:00 (Irish time).
Meanwhile, I came across this brief Polish article on Sheridan which seems to suggest that, due to his exploits and rising popularity in Poland over the latter half of last season, he's now recognised in Ireland more by Poles living here than he is by Irish people.
The following is a dodgy Google Translate-job, but you get the gist.

playing against Qabala of Azerbaijan tonight in the Europa League second qualifying round
some top class harrying from Sheridan led to a late winner against Pogoń Szczecin, his tenth goal for the club
(video quality is terrible)
Only came on for last ten minutes of Jagiellonia's game today, which they won 3-1. Seems to be going through a bit of a dry patch?
I think he's only scored three goals so far this season. Not quite showing the same form as he was last season, unfortunately.
Jagiellonia are in eighth position overall, which is six points off first position and just inside the top half.
interviewed in the Herald yesterday: https://www.herald.ie/sport/soccer/i...-36677468.html
Didn't realise they were top of the table
Jagiellonia look like narrowly missing out on the Siberian title again this season. They trail Legia Warsaw by three points going into the final day. Sheridan has started the last couple of matches and they have won both. He was booked yesterday and scored in the previous match, the opener in a 2-0 win away to Lech Poznan. It was his sixth league goal of the season.
Final day (Sunday, 20th May - 17:00GMT):
Jagiellonia Bialystok v Wisla Plock
Lech Poznan v Legia Warsaw
If they do manage to bridge the three point gap, they will win the title by virtue of their head-to-head record against Legia in the regular season (won 1-0 at home and 2-0 away).
Sheridan scored the winner as Jagiellonia came from behind to win 2-1. It was in vain, however, as Legia led 2-0 in the final twenty minutes before the match was abandoned due to a rioting home crowd.

He got the opener tonight away to Rio Ave In Europa League qualification. It's 1-1 on the night and Jagiellonia are up 2-1 on aggregate. So Cillian's goal is a valuable away goal which means Rio Ave must get two now.
Ended 4-4 on the night, so Jagiellonia won 5-4 on aggregate and play Gent in the next round.
Surely Sheridan is worth a place in the squad in Sept with Maguire now ruled out. He plays in Poland and all....
I'd have him there as we've no real target men strikers in our squad any more with there retirement of Darryl Murphy.
A start and a brace tonight as Jagiellonia moved second with a 3-1 win.
Started an scored the equaliser for Jagiellonia yesterday in a 2-2 draw. Also scored in the Polish Cup during the week.
It seems strange that he’s been released by mutual consent.
Makes me think there’s more to the story.
Wonder where he’ll end up.
Just read that he’s signed for Wellington Phoenix in NZ. That’s the end of any chance of him pulling on the green jersey again so.
On for his debut 63rd minute
Back on his travels again, this time to Israeli  club Ironi Kiryat Shmona.

The Polish league is returning this weekend, with Sheridan's team Wisla Plock facing Korona Kielce on Sunday
Sweet to score against his former club too.
I watch a bit of Ekstrakalasa and the sight of Sheridan outrunning the Jagiellona defenders and finishing cooly would make you wonder if he wouldn't be an option in the squad. I like his character, even with nice money I admire the balls of a fella who'll sign for teams like Wisla Plock etc!.He's clearly fit, he can finish, tall, his little ponytail makes him look more expensive than he's worth, doesn't appear to have a big ego....worth a run? He'd possibly be great for the games against the likes of Gibraltar. Big Cas saved us on a few occasions....
Just a thought.
I see they have a Georgian international in their squad at Wisla so why not an Irish international?
