Viz used to be very funny.
Haven't read it in a long time, but it was genius at its best. Then it turned to complete pish.
The Parkie, Biffa Bacon and Big Vern were all a good laugh. Roger Mellie had good moments as well.
Not really, no. Simon (the chap who posted on the late Steve Donald's website) was 'silent co-editor' for a spell earlier this decade.
Chris Donald was the founding editor. He's the one who you may have seen on telly yapping about Viz. He was Ed until his near-breakdown in 1999, at which time a conglomerate of staff calling itself "Fulchester industries" took over the editors duties. This group included the writers & cartoonists Graham Dury, Simon Thorp, Davey Jones, Alex Collier & C&S Donald's younger brother Simon.
Collier & Simon Donald left the editorial staff in 2003.

Majel Barrett-Roddenberry, voice of the starship enterprise, nurse Chapel, Lwaxana Troi, and the only person to appear in Star Trek, The Next Generation, DS9, and Voyager passed away as a result of complications from leukemia. She was 76.
in what way was she connected to Gene, wife?
Yes.
Think she was his girlfriend at first during the original series, wife for years then until he died.
She was in the orignal pilot as a cold ruthless First Officer. Exec's didn't like her, or Spock. They said lose the girl or the alien. Roddenberry used say he kept the Alien and married the girl.
I remember her. She was a bit of all right!!

Tony Gregory TD, Very sad loss at the age of 61. One of the best and most hard working TD's around A huge loss to the people of North Dublin and beyond.http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/...breaking28.htm

TD in my constituency but did not even know he was sick but would explain why not heard anything from him via the media recently.Quote:
Independent TD Tony Gregory has died at the age of 61 after a long illness.
The Dublin Central TD died in St Francis Hospice, Raheny, this morning, after a long battle with cancer.
RIP Tony Gregory. A man I always felt cared for those in his constituency, and who genuinely tried to do whatever he could for them.
Used to be my TD for as long as I lived in Dublin: a good man who always put his constituents first, famously dating back to when he got in in 1981 or 82. I knew a few of the people he worked with fairly well, and they had the utmost of respect for him. He'll be badly missed.
Interestingly, both he and Bertie have been in the same constituency for a fair spell, and were half of Dublin Central's representatives, repectively pulling in just under and well over the quota. Now two of the more iconic Irish politicians, for vastly different reasons, will be leaving a huge void.
RIP Tony Gregory.
A man who tried to make a difference.
Very Sad, A Man of principles, integrity, and a loyalty to his constituents very rare traits in todays society and even rarer in the world of politics, he will be greatly missed.
RIP
They were the ones he represented. He did more good by keeping his influence local than going on the wider political stage. If we had more like him throughout the Country, everywhere would be a better place to live. As it is, we only have politicians who are interested in themselves and their own personal advancement.
RIP Mr Gregory
John Travolta's 16 year old son Jett died yesterday after hitting his head on the bath-tub.
They're not more important, but they were his constituents, and he tried to help them. It's not all that common to see a politician who gives a **** about any of his constituents bar those with fat wallets, but I respect Tony Gregory for being one.
He got what would have been a great deal for those he represented though. Much better than looking out for No.1 like many others would have done.
That's a question for all the other politicians who are in a position to wield their mandate for the benefit of their own areas, yet choose to follow the party line like sheep.
As for selling his vote to Haughey, he actually got the deal of the century to get money for the good of his locality.

Donald Westlake aka Richard Stark, one of the finest and best regarded crime novellists.
His most famous thing was that he wrote the book behind the movie Point Blank (with Lee Marvin), recently remade (badly) as Payback (with Mel Gibson).
Gregory cared about people in deprived areas. He was a proper public representative who was only interested in the well being of his community and not his own bank balance, unlike most of his fellow constituency TDs. If all the TDs in this country had the same attitude, moral courage and principles as Gregory, Ireland would be a far better place.
