Madness, never ever turn down a spot in the top division.

Can see both sides of the argument. Going up when plans are well in train for a first division campaign will be hugely difficult. But so is getting out of the first division.
But if the logic and expectation is that if the team isn't good enough for a play-off spot, then crowds would undoubtedly be lower in the First watching a team going nowhere than in the Premier watching a team trying to avoid the drop. Crowds are always worse in the First Division than they are in the Premier Division for any team that isn't challenging for promotion. Plus you can't charge as much for tickets either, so a double hit to your income.
Bray and Drogheda were both relegated in 2009 and 2010 respectively and ended up back in the Premier Division the following season due to other clubs going bust (Cork City and Sporting Fingal)
Both Bray and Drogheda finished 2nd bottom in 9th spot in their reprieve seasons, Bray surviving a penalty shootout in a play-off against Monaghan and Drogheda didn't have any play-offs to worry about that season. Once both clubs survived that unexpected Premier Division season they did ok, Drogheda even finished in 2nd spot in 2012
You could understand why Galway would be a bit reluctant if the same reprieve as Bray & Drogheda happened as they would probably finish 9th or 10th but the First Division isn't called the graveyard for nothing any club should take any opportunity given to them to get away from it by any means necessary (aside from the spending stupid sums of money thing obviously).
its not ideal obviously but if Galway did get a reprieve they could still get in a few extra players between now and start of season,
Will take time to bed them in but a slow start doesn't man relegation....ask Pats and Sligo
One match playoff between Galway and Cobh!
Keith Buckley desperately trying to get his 2 year contract at Bray cancelled prematurely, and a return to Bohs would be his preferred option apparently...

“We have no manager and no players. Who is going to want to sign for a club like that? “If someone signs for Bray next season it will be because it is their last choice, not their first choice.
“I’m looking for my contract to be cancelled so I can walk away. I’m not looking to be paid up. But they’ve told me that’s not possible.
“Even if Jose Mourinho is the new manager and they were going to pay me €10,000 a week, I wouldn’t want to be here. I don’t care who likes that or doesn’t.
"Aaron Greene, Kevin Lynch, Darragh Noone and Jake Ellis are the other players under contract and, with the possible exception of Ellis, Buckley says they want to leave too."

It would have been the most #GreatestLeagueInTheWorld moment ever if all the shenanigans in Bray resulted in Pat's going bust.
Dave Mackey is Bray's new manager.

Bray have listed all Bar the three players under contract from last season as Trialist. What’s that about?
Just keeping their cards close to their chest.
In all seriousness I've seen speculation that the FAI haven't ratified their new registrations for whatever reason.
Bray have confirmed a premier license for 2018.
Harps have confirmed Premier Licence too, which is equally surprising.
Athlone got one as well.
Everyone bar Cobh, Cabo, UCD and Wexford got a Premier Licence.

'Insufficient evidence' of match fixing Bray- waterford game http://leagueofireland.ie/index.php/...investigation/
Good news for Bray! No charges in the match-rigging issue.
That was the asterisk that could have saved us!

A NUMBER of Bray Wanderers players have not been paid on time.
SunSport has learned that, ahead of tonight’s first home game of the season against St Pat’s, certain members of Dave Mackey’s squad had not yet received their wages.
Is this North Korea's fault as well?
Only two ticket sellers tonight and with a large away crowd they ended up opening a gate and taking cash off people (not sure if ticket stubs were handed out for the side project I was already inside at that stage or if 'proper' pricing was applied to those paying in on the side gate).
When your buzzed ;):D

Bray's John Sullivan says the Irish Sun's story garbage, and that all the players were paid.

Have the paper or Owen Cowzer or Neil O'Riordan responded publicly to the "Put up or shut up" challenge? Are they still standing over their story?
Thats an insane bet for a correct score though. Either that guy has a serious gambling issue and is in incredible financial difficulty or he knew something.
Oh it's not fake.
What you do is you send them all of your credit card numbers. And if one of them is lucky you win a prize.
31/1 seems an unusual price. A lot of money on it but I'm sure every match has someone betting on an unexpected score.
This is how they work
http://onlineadrian.com/how-facebook...rs-make-money/
As said that is definitely fake. They can be done up and I have seen them before online. I even think there are computer programs that do mock up betting slips. If u want proof, Id like to see him collect it in person and take a photo. Those bar codes are important!
I also see he is trying to get people to follow him for his next bet........
Who fancies it! :D
You send them money, they give people in return different outcomes privately without the people known. They take your money block you if the outcome loses and for the lucky outcome that has won they’ll then get more money from that person, without that person even known it’s a scam. They’ll post the fake slip to suck people in and repeat the process. Then they make money off people been gullible, it’s known to happen on Facebook, and I’d be sure this is another example
I've seen some mad money put on bets, mostly people doing a start with a tenner winnings carry on to next week see how much you can get in 10 weeks kind of thing, but that amount of money on a correct score? Nah not buying it
