Other than Sligo and Limerick I don't see any other clubs improving on last years average.Shams budgeted last year for an average of 2,500, I would be surprised if they get over that this season .
If you look at the 24k in Croke Park today with probably 4 of the top 5 crowdpullers you get some idea of the effect that the lack of disposable income among the population is having on sports events.Even Thomond wasn't full last night.( possibly saving their money to see the mighty Bohs on Tuesday)
Derrys attendences should improve if they keep up the good form their on??
Totally agree, last year the fans weren't daft and knew the score after a month, that was effectively a FD side that was put together and damn lucky not to end up there.
Breath of fresh air this season, even leaving after the Derry defeat on Friday, losing 3-1 didn't seem to effect the mood, as fans on the way out were talking about ''still saw a decent game of football"
1216 the crowd at Richmond Park for visit of Shels, poor enough I think for a Dublin derby, but maybe weather the weather had some effect.
Monday night in the poor weather. Considering Pat's don't seem to have a huge fanbase, that's not too bad.
I'd say less than 200 tbh. Crowd of about 1,200 is right.
There looked more than 1,216 there. I would have said along the lines of 1,800.
And as a rule, don't take extratime's estimates as gospel. I wrote for them a bit, any non-official attendances are simply those of the reporter who doesn't necessarily know the ground better than any fan nor does he likely have the best view of the crowd from the press box.
I didn't think it was an estimate, I presumed it was official. Who the hell estimates to the nearest 16?! I was surprised by the figure because I had thought there were more from being at the match and I was sharing that view. The point I made was in regard to extratime's estimates, not specific figures such as the one cited.
It's fairly easy to guess the numbers in Richmond, the stands holds 1,800 and most of the fans are usually in there. If everyone at the game last night was in the stand (people from the shed and camac) would there have been 600 empty seats? I was in the stand and the half I was in was fairly full.
Easily 600 free seats.
Anyone else feel like banging their head against the table when reading this thread??
Maybe it's just me. Maybe Im just a bit mad. Maybe I think too much. Maybe I've said maybe too many times already maybe?
48 at Salthill -v- Waterford
Well if you take out the players (35), officials (4), Backroom staff (12), extratime.ie guy (1), I would wager there were -4 Waterford people there.
In saying that ET have the attendance down as 119.

1,781 at thomond park limerick v bohs
THought we would only get 1,500 max tonight so delighted again with the attendance. Everyone left buzzing after the final whistle which will hopefully bring a crowd back for the Shels game. A draw or loss tonight and I think the attendance vs Shels would have plummeted.
Good crowd given the circumstances.
Went down to the game in Limerick to see what the Thomond experience would be like and to visit another LoI ground. Great stadium, and I enjoyed my evening. As already stated there was a great buzz amongst the home fans at the end due to the dramatic finish, but Bohs could easily have won the game as well, which would be a major setback in getting good crowds into Thomond in future. Also it was a beautiful day/evening here in the west so for an outsider an attendance below 2k is a bit dissappointing. There was 80-90 Bohs fans there who gave their team great support and also expressed their opinion on some witch who has died. Bohs had the same number of supporters in Limerick on a tuesday night as Drogheda had at Tolka last friday, not a great sign for the club that finished 2nd last year.
Good few junior games on tonight, well pleased with that crowd.
FAO Bohs fans if thats what passes for fashion in Dublin im glad to be a culchie :p
