And presumably various other more distinguished posters, also...

Poor lad has been getting some abuse off the Nordies on twitter (or are they foot.ie posters pretending to be Nordies>!). Doesn't seem fazed by it in the slightest. Fingers crossed he's in the squad today.
Yes, but don't mention it, as it's not 'about' football...
Not in the Irish squad:(
Link..
Ciarán Ó Raghallaigh on twitter
''James McClean NOT in Ireland squad''
WTF? Why not just invite him over anyway?
Cheers.
I'll wait for a more reliable "journalist".
FAI released squad on twitter. He's not in :(
Now I'm not impressed.
Baffling decision not to give him a shot. He has been the best Irish player in the Premiership the past 2 months bar none.
It was a hope against hope that McClean would be included in the squad. We know Trapattoni's modus operandi, yet we thought that James might just edge in.
McClean recently said in an interview that he hadn't a notion whether or not he would be in the squad, which should have told us that he wouldn't be in. Not that he would have announced that he was included or anything.
As far as I understand, clubs and players are generally notified a few days/weeks in advance of squad announcement.
McGeady and Coleman are in squad but both are injured, wouldn't be surprised if McClean is called up prior to the game. No Keogh, Lawrence, McShane.
A truly idiotic decision, but as yer man says, hopefully injuries will facilitate his chance...
Coleman hasn't played in over a month - surely he'll be hard pushed to make the squad. Perhaps Trap just wants to make it look like he had to call him up due to an injury...
The reports about his clearance coming through this week lulled me into expecting McClean to be named so thats disappointing. Battling with Keogh and Lawrence on the standby list in all probability too.
I thought he'd have been included as well.
Trap has said though: "The Czech Republic are a strong team, and their system is similar to Croatia and Spain."This game is vital in helping us choose our 23-player squad for May."
It's understandable in some ways with Trap being Trap, he wants the team focussed on the job at hand. It is a tough group we're facing into.
Jack Charlton was far better at fishing than Trap is at poaching ! ! !
Trapattoni: We have no time to change

Surely McClean deserved a chance to impress Trap and surely Trap must be somewhat curious to try McClean out.
If McLean keeps banging in the goals and wowing the EPL fans/pundits/press till the end of May would you bring him? I know I would.
I'm neither surprised or upset that he's been omitted. He's been in great form, but he's only played 11 games yet.
He'll yet feature against the Czechs. Coleman and/or McGeady Will pull out.
The one thing that annoyed me about that article was this:
"The midfielder, who was born in the North, but has opted to represent the Republic, received clearance from FIFA to do so earlier this week."
When did this crap of spelling north with an uppercase "n" start? Also I'm pretty sure when I was born in 1984 my country was called Ireland and not Republic. I missed that memo.
his directness, freshness and youthful enthusiasm would be a welcome addition to the squad similar to steven reid in wc 2002. very disappointed he not involved in this squad. in fact given the backward steps coleman and hunt have taken this season its baffling imo. squads always need freshening up
Thankfully this thread is back to football matters and James McClean again, please dont let it be another thread to descend back into all that northern rubbish.
Disappointed though not surprised he didnt make the squad. Clark is another baffling omission. Still think there is a decent chance he might get called up with some likely injuries in coming weeks.
This. Sick and tired of scanning through threads, trying to pick out the football news from the caveman politics. Really wish the powers that be on here would keep all this "us and them" pathetic bull**** away from the football discussions.
It's meant to be all about this. :ball:
Surprised and disappointed McClean failed to make the squad. Thought it would be a perfect opportunity for Trap to try him out. The confirmation last night of his switch having been approved by FIFA had raised my hopes.
I understand the objections of people with no interest in eligibility matters having to trawl through masses of eligibility-related discussion, but how do you distinguish between what should and shouldn't be here though? In the case of McClean, discussion on his eligibility/switch is as relevant and appropriate in this thread as discussion of his football, surely?
The Stephen Ireland thread is as much a documentary of his private life as it is a discussion about his footballing abilities, for example.
Ultimately, Stephen Ireland's private life, hair cut and taste in interior design still relate directly to the man himself. Too often threads on here take a players eligibility issues and turn it into a soapbox debate or history lesson on emigration.
Surely keep opinions on that whole subject separate. By all means discuss them if it floats your boat, but I think the majority on here are more concerned with matters that take place on the pitch.
So you're saying the 'majority' don't care about Irish players taking stick which can affect them on the field of play??
What a curious bubble some people inhabit...
Let's just say that it is totally unnecessary that the thread be littered with opinions about whether or not the North should be spelled with a capital N, or persistent repetitive surmise syndrome about the alleged angry/bitter state of James' mind when he pens a tweet, just for the sake of winding up.
