Final plans are up on e tender if you have a few quid.
Basically 1100 seats getting bolted down in the stand, the little farce thing remains at the away end and the rest of the ground is a blank canvas for us to slap temporary structures up in.
The LEDP should hang their heads in shame... but it could have been worse!
Have to agree that LEDP crowd are a joke, I honestly don't know if they're taking the p*ss with their sh*tty little stadium or if there so useless they all actually think they're all doing a great job or do they know they f*cked up (probably a combination of 2 or 3 of the above). This is from 2nd March 2011 almost 4 years ago now-
A licence to occupy the Markets Field will be granted to Limerick FC and supporters can expect to return to the former greyhound racing stadium “during 2012”, LEDP director Gerry Boland said. Mr Boland said that the ground had the “potential to become another excellent sports stadium for the citizens of Limerick and LEDP looks forward to working closely with Limerick FC in order to achieve this"
Have they seriously tried to work closely with the club to try achieve this "excellent sports stadium" or is this bit of a patchwork ground the LEDP's definition of an "excellent sports stadium" ?
Did anyone hear the radio ad for Galtee Fuels, it's voiced by Pat himself and at the end " and by the way we look forward to seeing you at the Markets Field next March". He's gas hope he's right
Does anyone actually know the breakdown or total funding for the Markets Field?
I posted this in the stadium updates thread
Quote:
I was going to say the Markets Field could have done with that grant but then I read the below article.
http://www.irishexaminer.com/ireland...eld-254079.htm
Looking at this article it says:
LEDP raised €400,00
Government grant - €1.1m
And then an additional fund from the JP McManus Foundation - €1.5m
Total - €3m in funding for he Markets Field.
I have been under the impression that €1.5m is the total of funding for the Markets Field. That article says different and there have also been articles saying the FAI have given grants. No one seems to know what the story actually is. There may be a bit of confusion with that piece i'd imagine.
1.5m from JP to purchase MF, 1.1m grant, 400k LEDP.
The markets field "purchase"could have been anything ypto 20 million as it was disguised in a bail out Of the grayhound board
With the tender deadline date having come and gone at this stage i wonder will we see some life up at the Markets Field in the coming weeks?
Limerick v Bohemians confirmed for our return to the Markets Field on Saturday March 7th @ 7pm.Lets hope the floodlights are up by then!
Why are we going for 7 o'clock ko for first few games then to 7.45.
Are there any pics of the redevelopment work in Markets Field? When was the last time Lims played there?
So is Markets Field just the pitch and one stand at the minute? What's the plans for March? Get the lights up and go from there?
And have a full team signed up?:ball:
Isn't John Delaney going to inspect MF today, I hope we already have a premier division licence arranged, he'll have a heart attack when he sees the state of the place!!!
was it in Rathbane in 84/85 we first played ye in the league?
Some excellent publicity for the Markets Field return in today's media.the build up will have reached fever pitch by March 7th.
He'll need to make some quality signings rather then the shiit he unvailed today or people wont show up
Some great artist impression pics of what the Markets Field will look like on the Markets Field Facebook page. Really whets the appetite for March 7th. It looks great.exciting couple of months ahead....https://www.facebook.com/Marketsfiel...377093356053:0
If thats how it looks in March then its a way better start to what I was expecting tbh. Only concern now is will it be done March 7th nothing even started yet.
The weather that is expected is surely going to set it back.
The artist impression looks good to me and the wall not being the whole way around the pitch looks good. Seems like it will just be advertising hoarding rather than a stone wall all the way around closing in the pitch. At the very least the walls look like they will be small.
The most pleasing aspect has to be the away stand. What was imagined to be a disgraceful little yoke thrown behind the goal, in the artists impression looks to be a fine stand.
Ya it certainly looks far bigger than the plans showed. The artists impression has it just slightly smaller than the 18 yard box but the technical plans we saw a year ago had it about the width of the 6 yard box. It might have been one of the alterations made to the plans as I believe there was a few changes.
I know there was a delay cos of tender process and all that but could they not have went to tender far earlier or was there something stopping that? Just a shame that now it looks like it could actually be a decent ground as a start that it seems it will be tight to be done in time.. If its not ready for first game its a disaster.
Presumably the final plans got rid of the second little home stand and allowed them to double the size of the away stand. Sensible move, get one decent stand instead of 2 Jackman type stands. As long as they get moving straight away there should be time to get what is a modest amount of construction done.
Its good to see that those in charge are capable of changing their plans. There was a point where the MF really was going to be little better than Jackman, but if that impression is carried out, it'll be fine.
Surely today was day 1 in the Markets Field 9 week revamp?!
Passed it at about half 8 quarter to 9 this morning and it was all locked up anyway but would probably have started later than that if it did start.
Seeing is believing sometimes with Limerick FC.i remember listening to Father Joe saying on local radio one christmas in the 90's that the first blocks in the new clubhouse in Rathbane would be laid in January! I have a lot more faith in the LEDP though to get this job done.
is that a 2 tier stand behind the goal?
