It was by far our best performance in attack. The midfield linked up very well together and both Turner and Paul O Connor put in big shifts. I wouldn't get carried away with the game but more performances on that and build up the confidence we should pick up another 7-10 points before seasons end. We will still be relegated but should put some respectability on the season.
To be totally honest I think if we had put in that performance against anyone else we wouldn't have gotten 3 points. We came out 2nd half nowhere near the standard we played in the first and I wonder why that keeps happening. Hopefully the buzz for the week after getting the win will lift the performance Saturday cos we will need to be a lot better to get a win against Bohs.
Would have to agree with above post sligo were as poor as I have seen all season taught our confidence levels were low they were worse, hopefully as said the win will give the team a lift bohs have hit a sticky patch not going as well as they were , really like the look of akinade was hoping we would go for him when he was at bray he's a handful
With the whole legal issue around Akinade it's clear to see why the club didn't sign him. A lot of fans would have been disgusted if we signed him.
Yeah, in no way interested in letting Limerick be that guys way back into an LOI career, relegation fight or no relegation fight.
Was not aware of an issue what happened there ????
Prince out of next game, knee injury. Sean Harding has left the club, Aidan Price has retired.
Happy enough with Paudie O Connor as first up as a centre back replacement. He has shown experience and quality beyond his years in most games. Have seen him play full back also and do a great job there.
Though Harding was decent to start with but lost his way got injured and never the same after that did not seem to have the same commitment either , if everyone played with the same effort paudie does we would have no problems impressive for his age
Outstanding performance tonight. The midfield three of O'Connor, Lynch and Duggan are really starting to click. Dean Clarke once again made shreds of the full back. Turner but in another good shift and another assist. Faherty seems to be hitting form at the right time and you could not fault his effort at all. Shaun Kelly played out of his skin as did Shane Tracey. Shane is looking fitter than I have seen him in years. Robbie was caught a few times for pace but then showed his experience for a lot of Bohs attacks and was excellent. Great to see Hall collect a few crosses from Bohs and while he had some dodgy moments over all he did enough to keep Bohs out.
Talked to a few different people in the terrace and all said Bohs 3rd goals was around 5 yards offside. Would have been some kick in the stones to have lost to it.
Russell came on and I was skeptical but even his cracking goal aside he actually made way better decisions on the ball and worked very hard. His best performance for us.
Jaw agape following along tonight. Stunning turnaround in the last two weeks. Sligo must be feeling very worried!
That was one of the best games of football I have ever been at in my entire life. What a top top performance from the lads. Markets Field really came to life tonight too. Special night.
Special word of praise for Robbie Williams, who was (stupidly, albeit harshly) on a yellow card since about the 10th minute, and played the entire second half against Akinade without getting sent off.
To everyone involved, thank you for a great nights entertainment,it was stirring stuff all through, for the record 25 games ....2 WINS.
A super super night in the Markets Field last night. The old ground has caught the imagination and is already proving to be a special venue. The noise coming from the chants in the main stand at the end was the best I've ever experienced in my 20+ years following the club. Great to have the blue army boys up there with us. The drum maybe serves a purpose away from home but the passionate chants we heard last night don't need any extras. Great chanting all family friendly too so well done all round. Seems to be the ideal compromise all round. The more risqué chanting can always be done on away days!
The drum wasn't there or anything because the actual agreement we had was that we could go to the stand out of the rain seen as because of numbers of Bohs fans expected we couldn't go to where we had been and it was agreed that we could go but just watch the game no singing and such the temptation and others starting the singing got too much for us to resist then though. Was actually 2 others that started the singing after a goal and we joined in. Make a good point about the drum though there isn't any need for it when everyone is involved like they were the other night.
Opened a lot of lads eyes in the group too that if the songs are kept positive and light that in the Markets Field others will join in and the experience will be much much better for everyone at the game especially us it was an amazing feeling to have so many in the stand join in because of our own actions and things that were sang at previous grounds ( Jackman, Thomond) we never had anyone outside out group join in really. We are supposed to go back to the away stand now for the Longford game because of the agreement we had with the club before the Bohs game but I really hope something is sorted and we can be given a chance back in the main stand again.
Gotta keep everyone together in that Main Stand with plenty of the positive chants that everyone can feed off. Away stand is too far away to influence majority.
