this doesnt add up.to me it stinks of an agent taking care of himself rather than the player.dawson cited money as the reason he was leaving as the terms offered to him were less than his previous contract.but when you consider the clearout leicester had this year, they must have rated him to offer him anything at all.the playing budget is less than half what it was last year.
also,he was reserve team captain here and the reserve coach was forever praising him in the matchday programme as a player who would be given a chance at first team level here.at 19,i think he may have been hasty or badly advised.
surely a one year deal with a club who are aiming for the playoffs is better than 2yrs at mansfield? i reckon he could have just as easily got a move to league 2 in a years time. ?
I could accept him going somewhere like Crewe where he would at least be influenced by the likes of Dario Gradi but Mansfield and that muppet Carlton Palmer. Bad move.
palmer is a muppet.didnt he say when he took over at stockport that shefki kuqi would be better off going back to finland as he had no hope of making a career in england and released him, kuqi is now a premiership player and palmer has long since been sacked as stockport manager.
still,i hope it works out for dawson there.
Lets hope he makes it at Mansfield.Quote:

That's in addition to Stephen Quinn, as mentioned elsewhere on the board, who has earned himself a professional contract. :)
"I have watched Mulligan a few times and he was the best player on the park in those games" - praise indeed from Neil Warnock, who should know a thing or two about football by now. He's a qualified teacher, y'know. :D

That's a strange one about Healy... I've just noticed aswell that he wasn't on the list of retained players that Sunderland announced during a press release last month. But he's still listed in their squad profile registered under 25 on their official site. But so is Bridges and Thornton. I defo read only a couple of weeks ago in the Indo (I think) that he was back to fitness and ready for pre season. But them newspaper journalists have been known to balls things up.
I posted a question on his status on a couple of the Sunderland messageboards I frequent and will get back to foot.ie if anyone has anything worth posting.
Just found this story.....
Key role for Healy in Cats boss' plan Jun 4 2005
By Paul Gilder, The Journal
Mick McCarthy has demonstrated his confidence in Colin Healy's ability to play a key role in Sunderland's top-flight future after it emerged that the unfortunate midfielder has been granted a contract extension at the Stadium of Light.
The Republic of Ireland international has not pulled on a red-and-white shirt for almost 19 months having suffered an horrific broken leg at Highfield Road in October 2003 but, although he has since suffered a second fracture, the 25-year-old is determined to return to action in time for next month's pre-season campaign.
Having signed a two-year deal when he arrived on Wearside from Celtic on a free transfer, Healy had looked to face an uncertain future in the North-East.
But with his manager keen to stand by a player he believes will make a full recovery and get his stalled career back on track, the option of an additional 12-month contract has now been triggered.
Having spent so long on the sidelines, Healy will spend this summer working hard on his fitness and will be determined to be part of the squad which travels to North America next month for a pre-season tour of West Coast Canada and the United States.
"I'll be training all summer to try and continue my recovery," said a popular member of the Wearside dressing room. "I hope, looking to the future, that I can make a full recovery and be part of the scene again."
Since he suffered his second devastating fracture during a freak training ground accident last September, Healy's rehabilitation has been managed carefully by Black Cats physio Pete Friar.
No chances will be taken with a player who was preparing to make his reserve-team comeback when he re-broke his leg. But the signs are promising that Healy will be able to take his first steps towards a return to action when his team-mates report back to the Academy of Light at the start of next month.
With Sean Thornton transfer-listed, and Jeff Whitley released, Healy's availability would be a major boost to a manager who is determined to strike a deal for Ipswich's Tommy Miller in an attempt to strengthen his midfield.
Antoine Sibierski is injured for Man City's pre-season tour of Thailand, Karl Bermingham is mentioned on the official site as one of two possible replacements. Read the article here
Although (head ruling heart here) it'll more than likely be Ishmael Miller, the other option. I've posted about him before and I mailed the FAI about him, I was told last week by the FAI that they checked it out and he is ineligible for Ireland.
Duff opened the scoring in a 5-1 pre seasons win over Wycombe, he was substituted at half time for Robben, who scored and set up two himself
Well Robben scored and set up 1. :) I seen the goals and while he passed to Jarosik for the last goal it wasn't an assist. Good to see Duff scoring anyway.Quote:

Conrad Logan(g.k) and Alan Sheehan(l.b) both played from the start in this one.it was an experimental leicester side, with only 4 having any first team experience and kettering making 11 changes at half time.
Logan has bulked up a lot since last season,he is looking a lot more built.both centre-halves were triallists so it was an unfamiliar defence in front of him but he was a lot more vocal than when ive seen him previously.constantly organising the backfour.he kicked badly on one occasion but got away with it and was beaten to one cross but the header went wide.
Sheehan played well,he only gave it away twice in the whole match and hit half a dozen lovely long left footed passes including 2 diagonal balls over the opposing left-backs head to his teammate.he was also coming across to take the corners and he delivered good quality balls.
To be fair, they werent up against much quality in the game but its still nice to see them playing well.
Alan Sheehan has gone with the first team squad on a pre-season tour of norway, but Logan has not travelled and will do the rest of pre-season with the reserve squad.
EireBhoy:Stephen Grant, and Ryan Mcgavin/Mcgavigan,are no longer at leicester.the club rep didnt know where they moved to.does anyone know where they are now? did mcgavin/mcgavigan go to finn harps?

pre-season friendly,bodo glimt(norway) v leicester city 1-5
Maybury,McCarthy,Sheehan and Connolly all started, meaning 3 of the back four were irish.
McCarthy was replaced at halftime.
Connolly scored twice, one angled drive and one lob over an advancing keeper.
Sheehan gave away a penalty which was missed but it was said to have been a scandalous decision to award it in the first place.
Maybury crossed for one goal.
Leicester signed another centre-half today and are also looking to sign a left-back and a striker before the season kicks-off,so it looks like the lads will have plenty competition for their places.
Stephen Ireland started and Richard Dunne captained Man City in a 1-0 loss against Tranmere on Friday night.
Match report here
Against Macclesfield on saturday, Stephen Ireland played the whole 90 minutes, Willo Flood and Karl Bermingham played the first half, Dunne came on in the second half.
Match report here
Matt Holland and Dean Kiely were 2 of only 3 palyers to play the full 90 minutes for Charlton against Bournemouth. Holland scored the last in a 5-2 win.
Match report here
Andy Reid played 77 minutes against Boca for Spurs on Saturday, while Robbie Keane played the last 10 and Stephen Kelly was rested with a slight thigh strain. Reid seemed to play well according to the report on the spurs website here
Marcos Painter & Kenny Cunningham played in Birmingahm's 1-0 win over a Norwegian side & Morrison came off the bench for Heskey.
Neil Kilkenny also played for Brum but I think he has sold his soul to the devil.
Neil who? ;)Quote:

there were 9 changes from the last game and 4 of the 5 goals Leicester conceded were free headers from set pieces.
Leicester play glasgowC tomorrow evening and Inter Milan next monday, both at home.
Owen Garvan scored in a pre season game for ipswich,as did Willie Boland for cardiff and Jonathon Hayes hit one in a 7-0 win for reading.nearly sure all games were against non-league opposotion.
And Neil McCafferty has agreed a 2 year deal with rushden and diamonds after his release from charlton.
