Very sad to hear this news but I suppose it was to be expected. Thanks for everything Danny, it was a pleasure to watch you play with City.
City's loss is Rovers gain.
Are you only realising that now?
Drogheda United are going to get a Premier Licence on the basis that they have a planning application in to build a new stand. They don't have to and won't build a damn thing. All they need, to by-pass the infrastructure criteria, is to have a planning application in the system.
You talk about a farce!!!

Tommy has called a press conference for the Rochestown Park Hotel for 2pm tomorrow.
He's hardly calling a press conference to announce he has failed as a club owner.
I wonder has this press conference anything to do with the rumoured takeover by a U.K. based consortium or is that just another figment of Tommy's imagination.
ya think so.. i believe tommy is going to complain about the unreasonable timeframe of licencing and that if he can have just a few more day say a week at the most he can pull this out of the fire
He wouldn't be calling a press conference if he didn't think he was going to come out of it looking well I reckon. He must have some kind of deal done and he can crow about "saving" the club.
All shall be revealed at 3 tomorrow.
No Tom present, presumably because he's banned?.Quote:
Cork City Football Club will hold a press conference tomorrow
afternoon at the Rochestown Park Hotel at 3 pm.
The club's General Manager, First Team Manager and First Team Captain
will be in attendance.
Members of the media are invited to attend.
Is there another Jerry Springer like twist about to happen?"Tom and Roddy are announcing their engagement"-Jerry,Jerry,Jerry:D.
Maybe they'll completely reform the club, it'll turn out the two Dans signed "Michael Mouse" on their contracts with Shamrock Rovers and thus they're null and void, the tens of thousands they received as signing on fees (plus the years wage in advance) will be enough to pay off existing City debts. Dan Murray will be captain again, Roddy moved "upstairs" to be a North American style "GM", Sean Connor (with a 200k payoff from Galway after they asked him to shave before exposing himself again, he got an out of court that we will hear about) will come in as "coach" and Glen Crowe will arrive as striker-striking coach.
The above has about as much a chance of happening as a "consortium" parting with a million quid to invest in Cork, what's more, they'll still get their licence thanks to this continued act of brinkmanship!
Latest rumour is that the tax bill has been paid today. Puts the FAI in a bind if true.
It's on the Cork forum, from the lad who runs it. He did say it was just a rumour.
Surely the amount of people publicly saying they're owed wages and aren't signing agreements is enough to deny them a licence? Not to mention that they must have shattered the 65% rule.
I reckon the conference will be cancelled when TNB forgets the draft, and so begins another in the long list of unavoidable and irritating obstacles which have been placed in big-hearted TNB's way.
You'd think so but nothing is going to surprise me at this stage. I'm expecting them to get a Licence and if they don't it'll be a welcome bonus to see the rules applied properly to a club they want to keep.
TNB just on Today FM in an interview with Matt Cooper.
The Cork lad that lost a million euro supporting his hometown club.
Says the club is in trouble because of contracts inherited. No player took a paycut.
€130k owed to revenue. When asked where will he get the money by Monday his reply was "not sure".
