Thanks for that superdub. Will check it out next sunday
Hi Kilcruise! Have checked it out & the Irish Pub on Weissliliengasse 5 are definitely showing it on the big screen - www.irish-pub-mainz.de. This was my local for years when I lived in the area & the manager is a mad GAA fan from Wexford. Think the starting time is 16.30, German time.
We got a full refund from our original czech airlines fare - got dublin to frankfurt (FRA with aer lingus) for €100 out thursday morning at about 6 am. Then we have a flight from Stuttgart on Midday Sunday(1 and a half hour by train from Mainz €29 pp on bahn.de) to Belgrade with german wings for €80 to catch our original JAT flight to Podgorica. Get €400+ plus refund and the new arrangements cost under €200. Would have loved to go to Tbilisi but it worked out alright in the end. Booked the hilton in Mainz @ €40 pppn. Five of us on this route.
just booked ryanair from kerry to frankfurt for €87 return, didnt realise kerry had an airport!!!
upthecats where abouts is the Hotel Etap in Mainz? They are usually way out but im assuming mainz is small enough so it must be close enough. How much would it cost to get a taxi from there to the place where you can get the bus to hahn? Are you aware of any other hotels in Mainz still available for saturday?
hi Paul, the etap hotel is approx 5 km out from the city centre & the main station where bus to hahn is. would cost 10 euro in taxi. don't know about other hotels with free rooms, but will try to get back to u on it a little later!
im assuming there aren't any bars out that way whilst i wait for my mates to come along? is the area safe enough, usually the hotels are in industrial/rough areas. still though 10 euro for a taxi is nothing.
ah well if its 5 km should be able do it in 15 mins so walking :D
upthecats, can ye get a bus or anything out to it?
Reminds me of the etap in Cardiff, i stayed there after the Wales game last year. I was a bit lost finding my way back after the match so having remembered the name of the road, i asked a passing policeman for directions. He basically told me to feck off as, unbeknown to me, the road the hotel was situated on was apparently Cardiff's dirtiest red light district :D
Anybody got a reliable site to check what the weather is going to be in Mainz over the weekend, BBC have 2 big suns on Thur Fri on a 5 day forecast, UK weather has light rain from Wed - Monday ??? on a 10 day forecast. Hope to God the BBC is right
ya its the one i always use but they are fully booked for saturday and have been for an age.
Gents is kick off still 5pm Irish time? I've seen one or two places say 8pm for some reason.
Last week when it was announced, it was 6pm local German time, I haven't heard anything different from that.
Mainz will be like a home game, complete with ****ing rain.:(

Yeah its kick of 5pm Irish Time or 6pm local time or 8pm Georgian Time. The game time has not moved. I hope that is clear.
Anyone on the first flight out of Dublin to Dusseldorf - Aer Lingus on the Friday....?
But the good news we can dry out nicely in Montenegro!!:):)

Any German speakers on hand, my pigeon German from years ago coupled with this babelfish translation seems to say tickets on sale Wednesday morning at 8am Irish time.

We unfortunately/fortunately are heading to Berlin on Monday for a few days where it is likely to be much the same. (although we do head to Nice for a few days at the end of the week)
Was really hoping for good weather on this trip, this summer and last summer have been awful.
Right it says that the advance sale of tickets for the World Cup qualifier between Georgia and Ireland in the Bruchwegstadion begins on Wednesday 3rd Sept at 9am at the Mainz 05 fanshop. Handy for anyone in Mainz tomorrow! The FAI should be announcing something later I would imagine.
