What a win for Glin today away to Tralee Dynamoes, Munster Junior runners up last season. Good wins for Abbey and Rathkeale as well with Ballingarry only exiting on penos.
Ncw 3 ratkeale 1 abbey 2 glin 0
AK United 1 NCW B 0 in 1st round of Reidy Cup.
Ncw rovers 2 ratkeale 1, shside 2 abbey 2.. Heard rovers dominated and won more comfortable than score suggests and abbey dominated from start to finish but could not find the winner..two good results for shside in fairness, any other results??
Shannonside 2 Abbeyfeale 2
Rathkeale 1 Ncw Rovers 2
Ballingarry bt Broadford
Ncw bt AK utd
Division 3: Kildimo United B 2 Feenagh B 1

Abbeyfeale Utd. v St. Peters F.C. (CCFL)
Hanover Harps (Carlow & District League) V Rathkeale
Rivervalley Rangers (AUL) v Newcastle West Rovers
Obviously there are no 'easy' draws at this stage but two away trips is going to be very tough.
Hopefully Abbey make use of home advantage in their tie.
Rovers got the same draw at this stage last season and were hammered 7-1 in Dublin... at least they will know what they are up against!
Rathkeale have a nice trek also but if they have a full team would fear no one.
Hopefully the Desmond teams perform well...
Very tough draw for Abbeyfeale. St Peters really strong with about 8 ex Athlone Town FC players with at least 6 of them still well good enough for League of Ireland. Defence Declan Fallon and Brian McCarthy. Midfield Niall Scullion and Garvin Broughall. Strikers Mark Sherlock and Noel McGee. Gary Stephens a danger up front as well even though he hasn't played LOI along with David Donohue who has amateur international caps.
Ya all tough draws in fairness wit two away but I would fancy ratkeale to come through there tie an also I would have thought abbey would give a decent account of themselves but going by that battery rover they have no chance.did u play with them for a while or is it just good info.we would all hope for Desmond sides to do well.
Lived in Athlone for nearly 40 years now in West Limerick. Also was on Athlone Town FC committee for a number of years and would know the ex Athlone Town lads well. Another one I didn't mention was Warren Convoy who played for Athlone and could have made it across water but didn't have the head in the right place for it.
AK United 6 Creeves Celtic 0. Now 7 wins from 7 for AK. Almost at full strength today with just two of the usual starting 11 absent through injury.
To be honest i cant see any of the desmond teams winning in the fai junior. Rathkeale probably the best chance we got in the fai. Hopefully im wrong though
Looks tough for all the sides, if what Battery Rover says is true then Abbeyfeale will have their work cut out...big time!
I suppose you play in these competitions to compete against the best and see where you stand.
Only a few seasons ago Shannonside at home pushed Sherriff all the way...
Looks like the Premier is Abbeyfeales again this season... after beating Newcastle West and Newcastle West Rovers losing to Glin Sunday.
Division 1 looking very competetive... Carrig Celtic should go straight back up.
Division 2 looks like its gonna be between Granagh & AK Utd.
Division 3 Has Ferry Rangers & Knockaderry to the fore... reckon the latter will prevail!
This has gone very, very quiet lads. Here's something that surely will give rise to discussion.
I see the decision makers of the league are using their brains again by passing the buck to the referees for the games on Sunday (being sarcastic there by the way) but yet they will still allow youth games to go ahead tomorrow to destroy the pitches. I think it's disgraceful carry on that they don't make the decision early in the week about youth games and early on a Saturday for junior games, what about the teams and players who have to travel long distances to the pitches only to be told that the game is off, they've to sit back into their cars and drive back 25 or 30 miles in some cases. Let's be realistic here, pitches are very wet and most are unplayable and the few that are playable certainly won't be after a youths game on a Saturday and a junior game on a Sunday if a referee wanted his €50. Solution to this problem, play more evening games on Fridays and Sunday's at the beginning of the season (you could get 7 or 8 games played by mid September) and play league cup games mid-week in clounreask, just like in the district league. Why waste 3 or 4 Sunday's playing league cup games when they can be used to play league games that have been postponed as they always are around this time. Personally, I think it's common sense but then again I don't think the decision makers have much of that.
On another note, this rubbish of giving 3 weeks notice for a weekend off is crazy too, if they are insisting on that rule, surely teams should have the right to know who they are playing 3 weeks in advance, again, common sense to me but......
And finally, this rediculous request deadline of Sunday evening at 6pm for change of time etc, surely we need to know who and what time we're playing that week before 6pm on the Sunday, not 11 or 12 on a Tuesday night, again common sense....
Now, rant over, let common sense prevail!!!!!
Hey KnowItAll, they got there in the end this weekend - the youths were called off on the Friday and to be fair the blanket call off went up early Saturday - I would agree with you though that having to travel to games that you know will be called off is a joke and happens FAR too often
WILL THERE BE ANYTHING THIS WEEKEND IS THE QUESTION?
The notice and request deadline thing are typical joke worthy stuff - ludicrous to think you have to make a request before you know a fixture and even when its on the website that is subject to change until the observer comes out on THURSDAY!
