Notifications are out for block bookers re Swiss tickets. See below.
I know of a numbe rof people who have got block bookings this time around from the waiting list. In fact I'm not aware of anyone on the waiting list since 2002/2003 who has not been offered a block booking.
You do have to buy tickets for every mickey mouse friendly but when demand exceeds supply it is surely the fairest way to do things. If you want to go to games then put yourself on the block booking waiting list.
English football clubs have seaosn tickets and away tickets are given first to season ticket holders.
Other sports have the same issues but not the same solutions. The IRFU are heading down the road of a block booking system now. A colleague has a Dublin gaa "season ticket" that guarantees him a ticket for all games Dublin play.
Dear Gary,
Thank you for your application for tickets for the above fixture. Due to the
extremely limited number of tickets available to us from the Swiss FA -
3,200 - and the exceptional demand for this fixture we were unable to
satisfy all orders placed.
However, as a member of our block booking scheme and a regular home
supporter at Lansdowne Road we are in a position to offer you 4 tickets
being the total number of tickets you applied for.
These will be distributed on receipt of same from the Swiss FA. We expect
this to be in the next ten days.
In relation to any ticket applications made for the France away fixture
taking place on 9th October 2004, all applicants will be notified on or
before 15th September. We are currently awaiting confirmation of ticket
allocation from the French FA.
THE TICKET OFFICE
understand the reasoning behind season tickets and the fai using a block booking system but most other season tickets only allow you to obtain one extra ticket per season ticket.

The block booking system is far from perfect but I don't see a better way of doing it.
Note this is the 2nd away game in years that there has been a problem with Irish tickets. Switzerland last year was the first. Brussels 97 was originally a problem but everybody there got sorted in the end. Before that England 91 was a big problem otherwise there was no problem in getting Ireland away tickets for any qualifier. Note I'm excluding the games at Windsor because we turned down an allocation then.
I bought a ticket for the Swiss end, and I dont need it now, so if anybody would like a ticket for the swiss end private message me and we can sort it out. I will sell for face value
Does that mean you are one of the lucky ones to get tickets for the Irish end? A friend of mine just told me that he got 4 tickets in the irish end .. (he's a block booker) so I think the good news for the lucky few has already been announced :)Quote:

How would we feel if our tickets for home matches were sold over the internet like the Swiss tickets are and there were away supporters buying them up like we are now?
Hey guys, Anyone got details yet of the time of the Fracne game in Paris and whats the story with tickets or is it a bit early yet as I heard that our French friends do not support the team very well in early stages and that there should be no probs gettign tickets - any comments and advice
There's a whole thread dedicated to this subject ...Quote:

Hi Volltreffer,
I was another one who purhcased the Faroes/Ireland package, so I have 4 tickets for the Faroes that are currently going to waste. Is there any chance that I can forward these on to you to give to charity like lopez did etc? If so please pm with the relevant info.
Thanks.

eircom League fans groups who requested tickets for the away tie with Switzerland have been allocated their requirements.
With luck they will also get their full request for the France game.
