The sparks will be flying Saturday night, hopefully we can get a good result, but like lastnight who knows....anything can happen in this crazy division.

Yeah true anything can happen. It will be interesting to see how ye both look this season with the new signings.
Keep this thread on topic,I've removed the posts about the so called incident as there's no way of knowing at this stage whether it happened or not.
There's surely enough positive stuff in your division without dragging out this?
Janesboro 3 - 1 Murroe (tom mc hatrick)
good team performance from Boro, went behind in the first half but worked hard in the second,5-6 missing from the squad tonite,16 togged out, alot of competition for places
Pike b 2-2 Park
Shelbourne 1 Holycross 4
shels were obviously understrength (a byrnes family wedding we believe) but still managed to dominate the first 15 mins. a goal for the Cross mid way through 1st half turned game around, and shels never recovered, 0-2 at half time, 4-0 with 15 to go before a late consolation score with 5 to play.
suspect shels will be well up the table by season's end, but for the cross morale is high. bring on local derby at knockainey tuesday night :D

2 Days since the first games have been played in this league and the "new" Limerick Soccer website still hasn't been updated..................new season, same old story!!!!
Anyone got the missing result above to complete the league table after round one of the league games!????
Early goal for Park, decent strike from 20 yards by Alan Casey. Pike awarded a penalty in either half both for handball, both taken by Darren Duffy. Park equalised with a well taken free kick, again scored by Alan Casey. Not a great game overall, dont know if was down to the conditions and being first game back, or is this the typical 1b standard ;) :p
Aww ref. That's a bit of an underhand comment now. The standard of 1B isn't a bad one at all. Thought you had a bit more class than that
Pike B 2-2 Park
On the game itself, I have to say that our lads were up for this big time, and although it was difficult to play much football in a downpour, our hard work and effort saw us earn a point from a very strong Park outfit (or even they earned it as we were winning!!:D.) They are a pretty small team size wise, but have plenty of lively good footballers. I was most impressed with the lad in the centre mid with red hair. Paul Scholes lookalike. He got both goals and hit the bar. A fine player. On our side hard to single anyone out as all 11 plus subs busted a gut for the team, but special mention for Darren Duffy, our top scoring full back!!! ;)
Good signing yesterday for us with the return of Gerry O' Connell to the club. He'll make a great addition to our side.
As for my old mate Spudd, I've still no idea who he is, but I did manage to shall we say get stuck into as many players as I could. All hard but fair, of course!!
I dont think we got going the way we would have liked, but alot of it down to the pitch been cut up in the first 20 mins of the game, non stop rain for all of the game, very hard to play ball, pitch was in good shape for kick-off but just turned into a mud bath then,ye did get stuck into great attitude on your behalf, seen the ref after the game wearing a celtic or a pike jersey under his referee gear, maybe had something to do with yer second penalty,if that was handball,id advise no players to chest a ball down in the box with this ref. :p
uummmmm let me see . .. ... i have only refereed three 1b matches one on a cut up pitch which was playable at start DE JA VU moment there :D and the other one had two forty year olds up front :D and the last i all i could here was "OFFSIDE" all game behind the maternity hospital...
so after taken into account all that i say the standard is.......
Above average and gets very good by end of season :D
Gerry O'Connell is a great signing for ye he'll score alot of goals.
How many of last years team started on sat nite.
Ye have a strong panel now hopefully ye can keep it together for the season.
Definitely a peno but we were saying the same on the sideline/under the trees that ye werent going to get a third one. Couldnt see the handball incident though but there was definitely a little confusion from most players as to what he was actually awarding.
The Scholes-alike was a nice player alright. Got a lovely free to equalise but his volley off the cross bar was a great effort and very unliucky it didnt drop in.
What about the 2/3 great saves the Park keeper made ? The pike midfielder/centre forward was unlucky on a couple of occasions if I'm honest I don't know how he managed just to get his hand to 1 that was heading for top corner ?? Good game to watch as a spectator especially in the conditions. The field will not be playable for a few weeks i'd say ?
Relax Jac, I was only commenting on the penalty incident and remarked on the Park player because someone else mentioned him. Both teams had chances to win it but I thought a draw looked fair but I only saw the second half thanks to King wanting to watch Arsenal instead. :D
Yeah Pike B down to play ye on Saturday night. Should be another good game Id say as both teams will want to play football. As long as theres not another terrential downpour.
As for man marking anyone, I will leave that up to other teams. We wont be doing it anyway.

Murroe V Caherdavin, J Clancy
Janesboro B V Park AFC, T Mannion
Coonagh United V Pike Rovers B, O Hayes
Fairview B V Caledonians, J Carey
saw it yesterday and it looked in good shape considering the conditions on Saturday. It was scarred but a game could have been played on it yesterday.
The park keeper made some fantastic saves in the second half, which was strange as he dropped a lot of simple balls earlier.
Overall a fair result. The ginger in the middle for park was the best player on show.
