Sure there was reason for the manager to leave if he playing with them at this moment in time,always training and turning up playing some of there games,personally i think theres alot more that we dont know about behind the scenes at the club.i dont think its just all about the 2 lads to leave that the club fell apart,theres alot of other good lads at the club that could have taken over..

as always there are things going on behind the scenes that only a few wil know about. A number of people were aproached within and outside the club but things were left too late or the people were not interested.
The club expected the players to stay by their sides (even though a good few were doing pre-season elsewhere) and that did not happen.
hence the current state today.

Its strange that none of the team from the year before didn't re-join. There must be some reason why nearly ALL of them left at the same time!? Did they all just ring each other up and say lads don't bother joining Park. Try somewhere else this year. It baffles me because Park were the main club in Shannon for the past 5/10 years. It'll take them a while to get out of this one I think, not many people are going to want to join a club going in the wrong direction.

Park were always one of the stronger clubs. The premier was always the place to play if you felt you were good enough. I think those managers had more of a pull (player wise) than we think. I'm sure it's happened to many clubs. The big question is can everything be sorted out for next season and is there a man wanting to put in alot of time to re-build a whole club. Make no mistakes about it there is a very big job to be done.

see a few ex park players were playin for pike sunday!seriously mate and im not slaggin but why would u want those heads who abandoned ye to ever come back... its predominately the players fault ye'r in the plight ye'r in!!another few at crew park too.. are they all local shannon lads like!!once ye go down to 1b it'l take players comin through the uderage teams to get ye back up cos noone wil sign below 1a/premierr!!! where did albert go???as much as a ***** he was to play against im sure if he was still there park would be top five in premier!

Albert went to Bridge United in the Clare Premier. You can't realy blame lads for wanting to try they're hand in town. I think in Shannon players can only go so far. Where as at pike they had a chance of FAI, Munster, Premier success although all that has not materialised. No doubt about it alot of players are needed and we may have to wait for the young lads. But the club is kind of heading in the right direction with the young lads and that.

apart from the fai there others are still in the balance at the moment.
some of the players had played a long time with park and had done good service. If they feel there are bigger and better things elsewhere then so be it. This is a hobby for us all and i think you want to enjoy it. Maybe they felt the way things were goin that , that would not be the case....

Your dead right it is a hobbie for all of us. Jaimie deserved his chance in limerick though he gave great service to Park and I wouldn't doubt for one second his committment. I loved watching and playing with him, Philly and Macky although he can be a bit frustrating but he was always training before he left. I dont think any one could argrue with the success players have had when they leave Shannon for Limerick. I can think of six players who done that in the last ten years who went on to win FAI's. It's a hard case to answer and leaves the question of how good of a side we would have if there was just one team in shannon.

I'm surprised that Park Rangers would think its great that their ex players are doing well for other clubs while their club is struggling so badly at the moment.
They needed those players to stick with the club that brought them up and helped make them the players they are today. I cant see the sense in a group of players fighting for a club for 10 years and then leaving en-mass while that club falls apart. Its makes all the previous seasons work pointless and damages the club badly in the end.

I think alot of the players that left for bigger clubs,had a strong relationship with nobbers as soon as he was packing it in as manager,they all wanted to go too.

I'm only a player and I don't hold grudges against them because they left I'm sure they all had good footballing reasons for leaving. It's only going to serve as a lesson to the clubs who bring the sort of squad Park had together. The squad they had that year was as close to the best 20 players around Shannon as was possible at the time who knows if they hadn't of been beaten by Waterford Crystal they might of went all the way. Most of the players they brought in have never and were never brought through by Park most of them were just snatched from other clubs.

I dont think I would either hairy those players in my opinion were top notch. You can't argue with some of those players quality. Some of them had won alot at either underage and with junior sides to get rid of the over rated tag.

Every team has players in their squad that have never played soccer with them at schoolboys... if that was the case Olympic wouldn't even have a team.. is there any interest down at Olympic to start up schoolboys soccer?

In fairness none of the past managers had a youth system to take players from and had to look else where. If the club wanted to be successful that was what had to be done and I would say that applies to every club in Shannon and even in town (limerick). But at least Park are trying to remedy that situation and some of the younger lads are fairly handy. But I think Newtown are far ahead of all the clubs in Shannon in that respect. Newtown put in alot of time and effort into the underage and I think that is being reflected by their A teams this year.

When nobbers packed it in, alot of the team left then,he got alot of these (outsiders) in,they have no interst playing for park if it wasnt under nobbers.

Brutus I think you have missed the boat a bit there. It would be hoped that these players came down to Park because they knew who else was going down and thought that if they all got together they could realy do something. Im sure that Scales got onto the Bunratty lads and Darren Griffin got onto Glynno and so on. I'm sure the manager ahd to play aswell but you have forgotten one other person in all this Albert Finnan, who is a super player and a great manager, who brought a descent level of professionalism to a junior club. I'm sure he had just as much a draw as nobber did. :ball:

I'm saying that word of mouth between players who respect each other has a massive pull. If I remember correctly there was a big buzz about the side Park were getting together I'm sure most players wanted to be involved. If you tried being open minded you would know what I'm saying.

With the rate Shannon is growing i'm sure that there would be a few people willing to get involved, have you tried advertising or anything? I think it would be good for the underage Newtown teams to have a local derby to look forward to now and again. What about some of your A and B team players at the moment, would any of them be willing to put an extra couple of hours in to help the club achieve this.

Lads what happened with Park was a case of people going different ways for different reasons. if i remember correctly a number of players left for Australia, a couple of players were injured and as has already been stated already the managers that were there at the time had practically given 1 yrs notice to say they were leaving. If the club wanted to put there house in order at the time they should have set about getting a manager installed in good time(and not a week before season starts) and called each player that was there and spoke to them and got them to resign then.

Evan Glynn signed back for us 6 months before darren did...so to say glynno follows him seems a bit absurd.....

Some players follow other players to clubs cause they are mates,theres no problem with that is there?Some players stay with the one club their whole career and others move on. Thats the way things go.

Hi Guv. let me correct you on your comments about 1 week before the season started before we looked for a a new Manager. We were all aware that the managers were leaving and 6 weeks prior to the season commencing we had a get together with all concerned, you were probably there, and discussed the options and looked for differnt names for the job from those who attended, we followed up on those immediately and even advertised the position locally and in the Leader,all to no avail except from those who wanted money. Before any of that a number of the very top managers in Limerick were asked privately, all turned it down for various reasons. Towards the very end when we almost had to withdraw from Junior football the present Managers put there hands up knowing that they faced a huge struggle and have proved to everyone how loyal to the club they are. It may also now seem that staying in the division is going to be extremely difficult , mathematically it is still possible, and if they can miraciously survive then allied with the plans for schoolboy and youth team development, the club will be on the upward trend and with all Park reared youngsters.

Point taken...perhaps if those comments had been relayed to the players at the time they may still be there...thanks for the clearing up tho

hope it all works out ... might be to late now to start plans with schoolboys / youth team should have been in place years ago..
also think .. should have left a team in preimer league this season even if they probally would have been relageted at least you would still be sure of playing division 1a next year at least..:ball:
