Prem,
you have to remember that junior players are not under contract and can play with as many clubs as they like. There are players that stay with the one club for there playing years and others that don't and thats the way it is.

Fair enough, i agree. If a) you are not getting your place and just want to play; b)you fall out with the management; c) you want to challenge for honours (although lame).
Now if none of the above apply you would think a player would be happy enough to stay with his local side. Anto just left, but he did the same the last time we won the league. Makes no sense but I don't want to raise this again so lets just agree to disagree.
lads davy wall on his way back 2limerick plus hes bringing another player with him from newtown 2d view
This baffles me.How can a Kerry team get an FAI game cancelled when there is such a song and dance made in Clare when a Clare club wants a change of FAI/Munster fixture????
We have already been told that FAI under 17 and Munster youths games, involving Clare clubs cannot be delayed?????
Hi lads/lassies, Just posted the following on the Clare People website -
"CP - I'm very dissappointed with your recent coverage or "lack of" coverage for our local Junior Soccer football. Ye set such high standards last year, alot of people have been dissappointed that the same enthusiasm hasn't been shown this year aswell(So far anyway). :( Pics from games are no longer featured - except underage, compared to last year - 2 page spreads with match reports etc..In my opinion and I know for a fact ye have lost alot of your punters from last year that follow the clare league due to fact that clare Junior soccer isn't covered more. For the first time since ye went to print I had to go to the dreaded C Campion for match reports this week.... its a sad day."
Anyone agree/disagree?
Do you think this will go down well or will they even care?
Dead right only one match report per week now...it seems to be all school boy since they started sponsoring the schoolboy leagues....but with the gaa now finally more or less over hopefully they will show more interest in the league...it is only showing the premier table these days as well...
Anyone agree/disagree?
Do you think this will go down well or will they even care?
Fair play to u writing to them.I would say they will care.Have to agree with you but you may not have noticed even in the schoolboys that they are using out of date photos beside reports ,the photos have nothing to do with the games!!!!!
Its the GAA again.Just watch the improvement once it is over.
i think this is a definite change from last year. maybe been such a new paper they are trying to find the best mix to sell the most papers but i think most 'hardeded' champion readers will never read the 'people. i m sure it will improve but isnt half the season gone already....
well all the lads who are a bit fond of themselves get off down to the hairdressers.... the gaa season is over ;)
Well lads what do ya think of the new Avatar!!!!!!!
Looks like 3 ships & the Red hand of Ulster right ??
I presume it signifies that the team was set up by the lads who moved down from the North back in the 70's.
One thing I never understood, why is the red hand in the crest? Is that not a protestant symbol, i.e. the Red Hand Defenders???? Perhaps I'm wrong, can anyone explain?
trying to remember my history..
2 irish men o'neill & dermot for years were trying to be kings of ulster they had a few wars & battles untill finaly the high king of ireland told them to settle there differences with a horse race to ulster and the first man to lay his hand on ulster soil would be king of ulster..
dermot was winning race and was halfway across the river that was border to ulster... o'neill then cut of his own hand and threw it across the river to land on ulster soil therefore claiming the title of king of ulster ... it was always known as the red hand of o'neill... so legend & irish folklore have it... also tyrone gaa also wear this crest with pride
Any results and match reports from over the weekend?
Did avenue play this weekend ?
Bit of a farse with the 1st division shield final - any comments from the Clare League " officals " ?
It was a shield playoff with the winners playing Burren in the final.
Seems Newtown had a man sent off after half an hour yesterday so I suppose they will be happier with the point.
I see the Clare youths are playing Cork next Saturday... has a squad been announced or have they been training?????

It was a good enough game with both sides playing some good football, Newtown were the better side in the first half but the Brigde narrowed them down to 1 shot in the first half. It was a game dominated by the defenders and midfield with little or no clear cut chances for either side.Newtown had Ryan Kelly sent off after half an hour or so for a stupid kick out at Bridge player, straight red. In (imo) Newtown didn't look like they were a man down for most of the second half but the last 15 mins Bridge did start to take the upper hand and it was long ball out of defence for Newtown until the final whistle.....
Point each fair result
It was a shield playoff with the winners playing Burren in the final.
I heard something about this yesterday. What's the story, were Doora's gates closed AGAIN:rolleyes:
2 teams were on the field ready to play. Referee arrived and his dressing room was not open. He was not too happy and started his inspection of the field. He then said that the lines on the field were not visible enough for him and he deemed the pitch unplayable and called off the game.
I'm not trying to be bashing referees but the standard of refereeing in the Corofin v Cratloe game yesterday was shocking. Corofin should have been awarded 2 penalties for blatant handballs. I'm not suggesting bias but consistently poor decisions throughout the game for both sides.
Spoke to one of the players and he said the pitch was in perfect order - In relation to the Rineanna and Lifford game it looked like the ref was obviously out the night before - rubbish would be an understatement -
Ref gave some really suspest decisions in Bridge v Newtown game.
I wasn't going to say anything but if the rest of you are at it then i might aswell.:)
Twice Newtown should have got a corner but ref gave the wrong desicion.
The Bridge keeper pushed the ball out for a corner and on the way a Bridge players got a touch on it aswell, thats 2 players from the Bridge making contact but yet the ref gave a kick out....Seriously, i can't understand what does be going on with desicions like that, its unreall, and then refs say that everbody is against them....Boo Fcukin Hoo:mad:
Munster Youths Cup 2nd Round
Bridge United 1 Newtown 2
Should read United 2 Newtown 3 AET
Any olympic lads with a report on their FAI game. I know yee like to stay quiet these days but seen as it was the fai i was hoping some1 might share the match details. Was it a case of West being too strong or did olympic want to concentrate on league affairs:rolleyes: Are west a side to avoid ion future rounds????
Give the refs a break will yee! Worse than Mourinho the lot of yee:D Saw 2 games over weekend and refs were o.k. Yes made a few mistakes but so did every player on the pitch. Obviously both refs and players didn't want to make mistakes but its easier 4 a player to put his hand up when he's made a mistake as ref would be slaughtered. Now sssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh:D :D
Red hand stands for the ancient Irish province of 9 county Ulster ,not the occupied 6 counties.3 ships are the from the Clare crest.Club was formed by 3 Belfast men in 77 Jim Rocks ,Red Austin,Donal Magee snr and Tom McDade Snr.
Funny story about political correctness.Tommy McDade Jnr was once called a "Fat Chinese Orange *******" by a defender he had just beaten in the air to score and then stood on!!!None of the descriptive adjectives are accurate as he was a republican , only 12 stone at the time, was born in Dublin, but did like the odd chicken curry!!!!!!!!
Uladh Abú!!!!
