There's another pretty outrageous and defamatory lie in there too; it certainly has not "already been ascertained that [Arter] was back to fitness by the time we played Wales, at least". Is there any chance of a mod insisting on an adherence to even a semblance of accuracy here? TOWK has been getting away with blue murder lately and I'm really finding it hard to hold my tongue here as the last few pages of this thread have been an absolute joke. Sort it out.
And when did O'Neill ever signal, indicate or imply irritation at Arter's absence? To suggest irritability may have been detectable on the part of O'Neill in respect of Arter is just another attempt to give a totally misleading impression of reality and to distort the truth. Did O'Neill even publicly comment (or ever display a particular "demeanour", whatever that means) in relation to Arter's absence? If so, when and where?
Harry the sole Irishman starting Premier League football today for various reasons
Randolph, Rice and Whelan on the benches.
Assisted their second goal too as they've raced into an early 2-0 lead against a doomed Middlesbrough, who have also been reduced to ten men.
Bournemouth were go-karting on cows for he last 70 minutes as Middlesbrough imploded.
Go Karting is under estimated in the effect that it can have on footballers.................
Bournemouth have decided to solve this problem, so its only his legs we have to worry about now.

Interview with Harry, mainly touching on the loss of his daughter Renee. Touches on a few other subjects dealing with mental health and the importance of getting things off your chest. Seems a sound chap.
Given recent hysteria over a player pulling out of a squad only to stay active and return to club football shortly after, I'd like to quote my own physio for some informed opinion.
7 days before the London Marathon last week I went for an easy cycle and felt a tightness in my calf immediately after. It stayed with me all week, including during two light runs which I probably shouldn't have done but I did anyway just to stay active. I know my own body and thought nothing much of it. A noticeable twinge but no more and no less.
During the race itself it felt sore after only 2 miles, worse after 8 and impossible to run any further on after 9 miles. Bear in mind that marathon paced running is steady paced straight line running, much slower and less exerting than the bursts of speed needed by a footballer. I'm now awaiting an MRI scan as my physio feels it could be a full tear requiring, at worst, 4 months inactivity. I'm currently on crutches.
I asked him what was the likely cause. He said it was probably a simple overstretch leading to a gentle strain that turned into a tear during the run. I asked if I had just avoided running during the week would it have simply healed. He said given how I described it, almost certainly yes. Exercising even gently within days of feeling it was a bad decision.
A clear illustration of how only a minor strain can turn into something much worse very easily if you take unnecessary risks with it and don't wait a few days for it to heal properly.
As for go karting, I can barely walk but I can drive easily enough, though braking hurts a bit.
He pulled out just over a week before the Wales game and was back in training by the team we were playing Iceland.
There is more than enough examples of Arter pulling out of squads and playing for his club afterwards to raise eyebrows. I think O'Neill shares my view judging by some O'Neill-esque cryptic comments when talking about players who did make an effort to link up with the squad, like Murphy and McCarthy.Quote:
Okay, what game/series of games did you mean instead? If you're going to use it as evidence against him you should really have your facts straight. I don't think you mixed it up though, I think you were just wrong.
What on earth are you on about? I have praised Keogh loads of times since Euro 2016. You're the one who had to be reprimanded for calling me names like a schoolboy when I made a comment about his error in the playoff final, and you continues to bristle whenever I make comments about Keogh/Derby.Quote:
Your own psychopathic crusade against Richard Keogh was criticised by far more than just me on here, if that's what you're referring to.
As for people calling me a "WUM" because of this, I suppose the majority of people on YBIG who were criticising Arter, the majority of people in the comments section on 42.ie who criticised Arter, and the people in the comments section on RTE who criticised Arter are all "WUM"'s too.
After injured his calf against West Ham on the 11th of March and didn't play again until coming on as a sub on the 1st of April. What arbitrary no. of days in your opinion should a player wait for a calf injury?
How many games did Bournemouth play between us playing Iceland and his coming off the bench on 1/4?
He didn't have a serious injury and he was back in training by the time we played Iceland. He could have shown a bit more desire to be fit for the Austria game and/or could have made himself available for inspection.
James McCarthy was extremely unlikely to start against Austria all the way until the day of the match when he was named on the teamsheet.
He could have shown the same desire as him in other words.
Or Murphy.
I was just wondering if you knew how long is standard for a calf injury?
Edit: I'm genuinely asking your opinion.
I'm not claiming to be a medical expert. I just know that there's a chance he could have been fit for the Wales and/or Iceland game if he remained in the squad. It would have been different if the game was on the 16th, when he pulled out, but it was on the 24th.
Bournemouth thought otherwise but that's why he should have brought himself over to Dublin. Second opinions are good. Flights to Dubai from Dublin are plentiful. It would have been easy to do and it would have cleared any confusion.
Okay. Its just strange that you aren't giving him the benefit of the doubt.
I'll assume you've just gotten a couple of your dates wrong by accident.
He got injured on the 11th.
Pulled out of the Bournemouth squad on the 18th and missed the Swansea game. After which Eddie howe said
So he pulled out of the squad on the 18th at the earliest.Quote:

Even if you are being genuine, you can see why some people think you have a Vendetta against After when there is literally nothing suspect about his professionalism for Ireland or Bournemouth.
I dunno how we've gotten dragged here again. Let's drop it?
What did you think of his interview and his depression after missing the Euros?
Do we have evidence that Arter was back in training with Bournemouth by the time we played Iceland? I can't see it in this thread but maybe something was posted about it in one of the Wales or Iceland match threads and I can't recall it specifically?... If so, fair enough, but I'd be appreciative if anyone could direct me towards it.
Anyhow, even if Arter was involved in some form of training with his club by the time the Iceland game came round, do we know that it was full training like the rest of the Bournemouth squad? Perhaps he was still pursuing a specialised rehab programme? And even if he was involved in full training by then, isn't it still entirely possible that Martin was simply happy to give him some further rest from game-time as a precaution and, hence, had no plans to make any request for his services for the Iceland game?
And what's all this talk about Arter missing the Austria game? Arter played against Austria.

Arter was injured playing against West Ham on 11th March, and subsequently pulled out of the Ireland squad to play Wales and Iceland. During the international break, he flew with Bournemouth for warm weather training in Dubai. While there, the players and management went go-karting as a team building exercise. There is no evidence to date that Arter participated in it. He was deemed fit enough by Bournemouth to play on the 1st April against Southampton, as a second half substitute.
End of discussion.
Next person to mention karting gets a week off
i googled this during the week for obvious reasons and off the top of my head the answers were something like:
Less than a Grade 1 a few days to a week
Grade 1 likely 2 to 3 weeks
Grade 2 around 4-6 weeks (Gareth Bale current injury?)
Grade 3 8-12 weeks, worse if full rupture
I'd genuinely be interested in what TOWK has to say about my own experience and what my physio said in response. It is 100% proof that exerting yourself on a minor strain can lead to something more serious.
I think any claims that TOWK has been balanced about Keogh are beyond parody.
YBIG and 42ie comments section I'm surprised the RTÉ.ie comments section isn't added.
I saw your PM and responded. I thought your PM was aggressive and evasive. Not surprising.
I'll copy it here if you want and point out where I thought it was abusive and evasive. Or I can summarise it.
PM's are (by their very name) private. If either of you have a problem with a PM that was sent, then report it through the normal channels. Either way, it has nothing to do with Harry Arter. Stay on topic or I'm locking the thread until people cool off
Jeez , some people take their opinion awfully seriously...Its only an opinion and every one has got one.....
Football is not important and that is why men in particular are willing to talk about it ......
Anyone with any sense does not take football seriously.........Its basically a business that allows men a safe place to talk...about something of no consequence ......
You no what happens if people take politics...religion....too seriously in discussions....
Football is not to be taken seriously....Thats why People talk so much about it.........
Without hyoerbole, this lad could be our next Matt Holland.

Only missed 1 game all year
Just in case that comment on his excellent disciplinary record could be wilfully misconstrued, the article says he "missed just one game through suspension this season".
He has missed other games for Bournemouth this season on account of injuries or fitness issues. He missed their game against Swansea on the 18th of March (which was right before our game against Wales) due to a niggle picked up in a previous game against West Ham and, according to TransferMarkt.com, missed at least one other game (last October) due to a knee injury. That site clearly isn't up-to-date though as it fails to mention him missing Bournemouth's fixture against Swansea in March.
I think he has played 33 out of 35 league games this season.
I wasn't aware discipline was ever a major problem for him.
Right on cue, Arter very lucky to escape a red card apparently. Clear red card according to Graham Poll. Out if control, two footed, over the top, etc.
Edit- on Joe Allen. Trying to do his bit for the cause!
Merson said the same on Sky Sports, should have been a red.
<EDIT>
Tackle here: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5l...oe-allen_sport
Yeah, that's a red.
Really poor tackle in fairness.
