rule in limerick as far as im aware if club pulling teams the team in lowest division has to go ... from what i heard that is the only reason b team gone as they were gettin numbers training and at games and that the A team were struggling to field teams .. hopefully HIBS7772 Will let us know
Caherconlish 2 3 Newport. Massive 3 points for us. Scorers Peter O Sullivan, Brian O Sullivan and Sean O Brien with the winner. At home to Shannon hibs next sunday morning.
Hibs 7772 is it true the management and half the players have left?? Things not looking good down there
Yes I know they scrapped b team but apparently managers have left since. Not sure which players
Heard the manager of A-team walked alright. To much damage done to the Junior teams at Hibs so better off scrapping both A & B Teams, tbh, any hard work that has gone in over the last 3/4 years has all been undone. Players have alot to answer for aswell, Not all but some. Not showing up on a sunday morning for a match is an insult to Hibs as a Club, then arrive at training following tuesday as if nothing has happened, thats just bull****, should be ran out the gate tbh. Not paying membership is another problem with players these days, whats that about, would you be aloud go down and play Golf for nothing??, any fundraising events not 1 player from A OR B teams get involved, They contribute nothing to Hibs so in my opinion they should be scrapped.
What's the membership fee these days with most clubs? 50 quid? And do they pay for training and matchdays on top of that?
sounds a right mess. How are other clubs in Shannon fairing out?
fundraising and membership are always tough. what do you get for your membership? how many other clubs have their a and b team players fundraising? shud they have to? surely they just want to play ball (well that is questionable these days)
I agree about players taking some responsibility but they have it too easy and will spit the dummy out at earliest opportunity. You can hardly shout at players to move position or track back etc these days.
Will be a struggle for hibs if these rumours are true, Hibs7772 has been really quiet these days, any info for us?
Manager who walked was as much at fault for the mess he has left behind and committe just as bad as tehy stood and watched it happening, at start of pre-season training he only text 3-4 of last year's squad to tell them pre-season training was starting he did not want the rest of the players or even have the decency to tell them so he was will to let 10-11 players just leave ? , He assumed all of his under 19's players would come back into the club and was only looking to get a squad of about 16 players ??? even when the numbers dropped for games he never asked for B team players to come up to help out and never went chasing players to join , will agree though alot of the players have no intrest in helping out the club be it with fundraising or paying membership but most of the clubs in shannon are the same
50 euro is right. They'd spend that on the saturday night before theyre sunday morning match. And please don't anyone come back with nobody goes out on saturday night because they do, ive seen it myself. Pay for 1 night training and then pay for ref at the weekend, but this is all excuses, every player knows that there is a cost involved, a small cost at that, so if your not willing to pay it don't sign, simple as.
Shannon football is in a right mess, players lack commitment and the ability. I would much prefer to have commited guys instead of the pre madonnas who think they have the ability of Davey Wall, Gerry Kelly, Paul Carr in their hay day...
Hibs are in a mess from the Newtown - Park rangers amalgamation, might be good for the schoolboys but it did not work for the junior teams.
Shannon Town and Hibs are both in a dogfight to stay in 1A this year and town losing a couple of players through injury might struggle - Packie Darcy and Gary O connell.
I hope for the future that the A team players for both clubs start giving a little back. Its a major commitment for managers and the players should see this.
If you cant stay in on Saturday you shouldnt be playing A team football Sunday morning. 50 Euro is a lot of money but it should be for the love of the game and your club that you make the little sacrifies.
Anyway hope Hibs re group and stay up, and Shannon town should have enough to pull away from relation.
Yes you are correct about the mess left behind and not asking the players from previous year to sign, Only god knows what the thinking behind this was. I'm not a committee member but i wouldn't put the blame on them, I know that the committee did ask why players were not asked to sign and advised both manager and assistant to go chasing but again god only know what went on after that, Unfortunately Clubs are viewed by how their Junior teams are doing in competitions both league and cup, but the thing is Shannon Hibs have more teams than their A/ B teams and its unfair to view the Club from just Junior teams.
Whats wrong with packie darcy and gary o connell. Both played last sunday
DSMALL1, Think about it, Newtown are gone 5 years now so thats not relevant, Hibs would not even exist is Newtown / Park didn't amalagamate so that statement is void. When Hibs formed their A-team where in 1b, within 3 years they went Premier, I can remember clearly Hibs being laughed at for saying they could do it, but they did. The thing is, over the last few years Managers have resigned players who were ran out by previous management so the good work that was done by them has all but started again. 50 euro is not alot of money as membership goes, in fact its extremely cheap. Do players not understand what goes into the running of a club?
I brought up Newtown and hibs as I think both clubs lost their identity after the amalgamation, imo !!! But your right there are major costs to running a club and if you are interested you would pay the 50.. the situation with the manager not asking the older players to sign has back fired dramatically, but the ones I feel sorry for are the B team lads who are not going ti get a game in 1A....
Some of the B-team lads are more than capable in playing 1a football and should start ahead of the part time a-team players. If we take a step back and look at the table, Hibs are maybe 6 to 10 points away from safety in my opinion and should stay in 1a this year. I'm sure that is the objective, The b-team unfortunately had to be compromised but saying that they themselves were in real trouble of relegation. As i said in earlier post, none give anything back to Shannon Hibs so until that was to change i'd get rid of them all. Lucky i'm not in charge heh.
I heard Ryan Kelly jumped ship he did same a few years ago with town..what is wrong with players these days..it seems that between A and B team they had around 15/16 committed players but with gunner gone I cant see many of the A players staying so club will be back in trouble again soon..
Heard a lot of players on the move from both clubs
No loyalty, going gets tough ...
On another note, who in your oppinion are the best 11 footballers in Shannon not playing at the moment that could quiet easily help these two teams out?
And i still dont think that the best eleven players in Shannon would get promotion out of 1A and stabilise the club in the premier????
I would have thought the committee would know the managers plans before they put him in position or would it have been a case, well nobody else wants it??
it is all great as saying there are more teams than your A or b team, but you have to remember that your A team is your flagship. No point in having a cracking underage set up only for the teams to break up after youths ?
I am sure all involved, managers, players, committee have a role in this mess. Interesting but very tough times for hibs ahead methinks and they will do well to starve off relegation. not much in it at the bottom and Newport will fancy their chances after their great result the weekend to leapfrog hibs, especially with the uncertainty surrounding hibs
I hate to say but I had a feeling this would happen. There was a core group of players who had been there for 4-5 years and this was dismantled to bring in these young lads. Who have ultimately let the club and team and manager down. I think the amalgamation has been to the detriment of the both clubs. Sad to say but why when neither club could get together strong youth teams did they figure it would all magically be fixed by joining the clubs together to over time create a stronger A team. It hasn't it's a complete disaster. It's no better than before they amalgamated. Sure they have a few extra underage teams but I really cannot see it baring fruit. Very disappointed for both clubs to have folded and now be in position where they have to dispense of the B team to try keep it all afloat. It's a mess a complete mess.
ryan Kelly if I am correct here has not finished a season with the same team in the last couple of years .. loyalty is well gone these days players may have no choice but to stay if memberships not paid club will not let players transfer. Also were will they go if they wont put it in for hibs will Shannon town / Olympic take them ?
gaiscioch
it looks a complete mess alright but does this sum up Shannon soccer also .. behind all the hibs meltdown .. local rivals town a only 1 point ahead of them after a heavy defeat last weekend and Olympic doing well but only feeding of players leaving hibs or town and who don't tend to stick around to long
Town seem to be struggling with results but players seem to keep turning up.both A and B teams seem to have good numbers turning up..
I watched 1st half of there game sunday and they had decent team out 1. Aherne 2 mccarty 3 o connell 4 hogan 5 some foreign dude 6 darcy 7 burke 8 glynn 9 kelly 10 o connell 11 carew had 5 subs too griffen regan flaherty mccarthy and another Foreign lad . Couldnt believe they lost 5-1 as was 1 nil to caherdavin when I left just before half time..
don't if the league tables are accurate but the hibs b team struggling also 4 pts off relegation and 16 off promotion. will the b player who have only 4 wins in 3a be able to cope in 1a? time will tell
The hibs amalgamation has been a disaster In fairness. Club have lost their identity and still no better. I think its time for one club in Shannon but too many egos trying to hold onto clubs names/history rather than for the better of football in shannon
Not sure if it was a case that no one else wanted it. But Gunner did want it and only he knows why he decided not to ask players to sign, its a big question that has and probably never will be answered.
Can't agree with you on the point you make about no point in having a great school boy set up if the junior teams are bad. That doesn't make sence, Is it ok to have a bad school boy set up if the Juniors are great? I'm comfused.... At the moment Hibs school boy teams under11 / 14 / 15 & 16 are all in the premier divisions in Limerick, a B-team in 3a, 4 points off relegation and an A-team in 1a struggling like never before, their 7s/8s and 9s are going well. so it is not all doom and gloom at Hibs, just unfortunate that a Club is looked at how their Junior teams are doing.
Anyway, alot of players once they turn 17/18 are not worth the time and effort put in by Clubs, they give NOTHING BACK only hassle. Thats not me imagining it, its fact
