Caolan Munce from Belfast also on the bench. You never know.

Didn't know Raggett had declared for Ireland. Did some digging, and he played against Ireland U21s for England's C team a few years ago: https://www.fai.ie/ireland/news/irel...loss-in-galway
Realistically, a 26 year old defender playing in league one is not going to get a call up
Crowley was OK, but not outstanding - he looked comfortable on the ball but didn't get much of a chance to influence proceedings as Birmingham were overrun by Pompey and he was subbed on the hour. Harness looked pretty decent while Curtis was outstanding, constantly involved, working tigerishly and getting an assist for a terrific cross for the third goal. Raggett came on late but didn't have a chance to make an impact
Curtis seemed to run out of steam last season but if he can recover his first half form then he could rip it up and get a good January move.

It's a really good squad. Collins, Parrott and McCarthy back. But no Danny
Mick mentioned about eligibility concerns regarding Crowley. I guess he’s also in the Ryan Johansson boat where he played u17s for England before his birth was registered on the foreign births register

Towards the very end
This really needs to be sorted in our favour. At the rate England are capping young players at underage level we could end up losing out on a lot of potential players if the decision goes against us.
What's the issue I wonder? Or is it that it hasn't been finalized and concluded in our favour and it's only a matter of time? Very unclear.
It'd be the same as Ryan Johansson, whether he had Irish nationality at the time he represented England or not.
Talksport crediting crowley with changing the game in Birmingham s favour when he came on today.
A friend of mine was at the Charlton - Birmingham game. Came back with a glowing report of Crowley and Cullen. Hopefully it will all be sorted out sooner rather than later for Dan
Hopefully he should be fine. Like I highly doubt Callum Robinson and Ciaran Clark had Irish passports when they played competitively for England U21s and they were deemed eligible by way of grandparents.
His granny(and grandfather) is from Leitrim that's the connection, from out drumshanbo way.
You're right!
That being said it would be a horrible precedent for us and would retroactively make a few of our players ineligible. Obviously they'd still be allowed play for us but all future granny rule caps will need passports before they play for another country.
It's stupid anyway because both Crowley and Johansson were eligible for Irish nationality from birth. The rule is designed to stop nationality changes like Diego Costa who obtain citizenship through residency.
There's definitely a Donegal connection. Clark and his family were all in Letterkenny last summer, they were out drinking in the pub I'd frequent in the town. Spent a while talking to Ciarans father when he spotted the Finn Harps jersey on me. He was saying he wanted to get Ciaran a Harps jersey because of his family links to Donegal.
If I were the FAI, i would propose a rule change which changed the wording "had the nationality" to "had the nationality, or was entitled to have the nationality". There have been quite a few changes to the rules that have happened over the years and this one, given the situation regarding Ryan Johansson's situation seems logical and it's so minor that I can't imagine anyone would object except perhaps Sweden and Luxembourg (and maybe Scotland, England and Wales).
Obviously, it's also inherent on the FAI to proactively get people working on registering every young 3G youngster on the foreign birth's register. The likes of Louie Barry, CJ O'Reilly, Liam Delap before they play in the U17s for England in a few months...
To use Ryan Johansson as a good example, it's totally criminal that a decision he made when he was 15 - where he was explicitly told by his association that he could change to Ireland at a later date – comes back to haunt him in this way... I could certainly imagine Delap or Barry having a change of heart a few years down the line...
Excellent tonight. Has done well this season mostly first choice . We dont have any footballers like him in the senior squad. Great talent lovely to see him getting career back on track
Lovely assist for the winner alright, composure and then the quality on the ball in.

Do we think the rules have clearly set out to ensure that players with circumstances like Robinson, Crowley and Johansson are ineligible? Or is there ambiguity in the rules that has been highlighted by Luxembourg and needs to be eradicated, one way or the other?
There are not many countries like Ireland who allow 2nd generation foreign born to apply for citizenship without residency requirements. And the FIFA statutes are already quite generous in allowing for a player with a grandparent connection to circumvent the 5 year residency requirement.
As it stands now based on precedent, there is no ambiguity in the FIFA rules, Luxembourg have first call on Ryan as he had not applied for Irish nationality (based on his one Irish granny).
We're not sure about Robinson, we don't know exactly when Robinson became an Irish national or did his application to switch just fall outside FIFA radar of scrutiny as the English FA were not objecting? Or when his application landed on the FIFA desk, did it come with a huge red stamp on the cover page "Already Approved" - signed JD.
Crowley probably occupies the same questionable area as Johansson, but FIFA have not answered either way on his application yet so there's still an element of hope, albeit a dimming element.
The moral is, don't ever leave the Irish set up.
Was that Crowley who crossed for Brum's winner last night? Deft touch, whoever's it was.
Edit: Sorry, just saw Crafty's post on the previous page.
Robinson definitely fits into the criteria where Johansson and Crowley do. He played in competitive football for England before having an Irish passport because he certainly didn't have one back then. I'd imagine there's a good few players who fall in that category who made the switch. FA typically don't care because these players aren't good enough to be a blip on the English radar.
This decision is bigger than Crowley and Johansson though. It affect all future players who have an Irish grandparent. Johansson is an idiot for playing in that throw away Luxembourg U21 qualifier though. Was absolutely not worth his effort or risk.
I think he played under 17 competitively for Luxembourg a few years earlier so playing 21 s for them didn't make any difference he still had his 1 switch available as he would have understood it having the right to Irish citensenship as a formality when he applied for it.
Randolph makes an unbelievable save at the start of this video, but should really have saved the first goal. Great cross by Crowley alright.

Has scored against Blackburn in the FA Cup. Don’t think he scores too many
What’s the latest with this guy?
