BUT - he played well last night.
Ronaldo played well in the first half last night going forward at least, but a lot of chelsea's attacking play and goal was created by Essien who should have been tracked back by...
I didn't think he played that well, considering he was up against an out-of-position, makeshift right-back.
Before the goal he was nervy and couldn't control properly and couldn't pass. He did well to socre the header but the space afforded to him would not have happened with a real defender marking him.
After that he improved and did really well for the Tevez/Carrick chance. After this, his confidence returned and he did all his fancy trick but he also gave the ball away a few times and his crossing, at times, left a lot to be desired.
And he totally wasted his penalty, tried to be smart and messed up. He's lucky Terry is a worse peno taker, otherwise he'd be hitting the headlines as the villain.
He can't do the job though and having him in midfield is much better.
Well, well the first step to greatness, Ronaldo is named European player of the year.

I had to laugh last week listening to the oh so wise Gilsey and Dunphy give out about Rooney's performance in the CL match against Villareal, saying his attitude has changed for the worse and calling him a diver and then go and blame RONALDO, do they ever give up???:D
