Norway 1-0 up at halftime in Bray.
Norway's goal came from a header at the far post from a free kick. Norway very much on top in the first half, apart from a brief rally from the Ireland team towards the end. Ireland improved in the second half, with substitute Jack Byrne coming close from a shot from distance. Other than that, the Norwegian centre half dealt with everything comfortably.
Noe Baba was playing through the middle, and seemed to be involved in everything, but tired towards the end of the second half. The Irish keeper didn't impress me either, punched a few clearances when it seemed easier to catch.
Not sure of the name of the lad up front by himself (he was wearing number 9) but there seemed to be a bit of the Anthony Stokes "try to beat the opposition single handedly" attitude to him, kept running into dead ends in possession and trying to dribble past two or more players when a simple pass earlier would have released a teammate.
Incidentally, the ref was a woman, first time I've been to a game with a female ref
The lad up front was probably Sam Byrne.
yeah, according to the review on loi19.com it was him: http://loi19.com/index.php/internati...of-ireland-0-1
The right sided centre half who was wearing 15 was good as well I thought.

New squad few diferent players from last week. Good to see O hanlon back. Lewis hasnt played for us for a while. Liam kelly is new to the set up. Be interesting to see if Baba plays midfield again.
Great to see four LOI players in there as well.
Strange that Jack Byrne isn't in the squad, thought he played well against Norway
Beaten by Slovenia and a contributor on YBIG who was at the game claims it was brutal and questioned Doolin coaching ability.

On a slightly related note, I was watching Stokes' performance last week and was remembering seeing him play for Ireland u-19 against their German counterparts at Dalyer in 2007 in Euro Elite qualifying. I googled the game there, expecting to see a heap of familiar German names, and to see which of the Irish lads went on to play senior for us.
Sobering reading.

I love following the underage teams but I'm not sure it's worth the time and the wishful thinking and hoping anymore!
I was at that German game, the thread for the series of qualifiers is here: http://foot.ie/threads/59747-U19-squ...te-Qualifiers/
Winning 1 Nil
11th minute goal, 70 mins gones
By "fell out with them" you mean he didn't pick them because they skipped the qualifiers to play for their clubs.
