Sorry, yeah. There was a thread in the LoI forum about it at the time. But I forget how disjointed this place is - there's not too many do be (there we go!) in both forums. And then the junior forum is another dimension altogether!

So what are our chances of having John-Joe Finn come on board? Appearing on the bench of a La Liga side aged 17 surely would merit a call-up to the U19s next year - would be a coup if the FAI could get him and Odubeko into the squad
Surely ours to lose with a name like that and a Mayo father. And to CD's point, if he were released by Real there must be a volume of players there alone that could be on a Spanish under 17 squad.
His mother's French/Cameroonian (which is why he's black), so there's two other countries he's presumably eligible for.
France have lots of players so, like Spain, a teenager making the bench in La Liga probably isn't a big deal.
Aye, and if his mother is dual national then maybe (hopefully) the identification with one or the other country in her case isn't as strong as the father's with Ireland. That may also be borne out through the fact that the aul lad convinced her to call him "John Joe"!
I'm a little surprised there wasn't anything in the papers about him yesterday, or about Ryan Nolan on the bench last week
Aymeric Laporte is uncapped for France, I really wouldn't be worrying about them!
It'll be interesting to see if the FAI get him involved with the U19s now

Not really getting any Ireland vibes from it to be honest. Think things will have to go a fair bit off the road for him before Ireland comes into the picture.
I can see a new chapter of the soap opera "Ryan Johansson" is getting to the tabloids very soon
Not much of a story there seeing as he's more than likely still not eligible and has happily declared for Sweden. Oh look at that, an actual reference and not mindless babbling

According to a poster on the journal Ben cottrell who played for arsenal last night has an Irish granny .https://www.the42.ie/arteta-determin...96065-Dec2020/ similar age and position to mceneff
Im watching this guy Patrick B at Leeds very good player but not too much better than Scott Hogan in my opinion.
Question.... Does this guy Bowen have some irish in him? Such a nuissance player to play against, very clever!
Shrewsbury Town's Josh Daniels looking to defect (back) to the north.

Good luck to him, I like Josh as a player and he's done well for himself.
is this Roberto Lynch-Sánchez eligible for Ireland?
I lived in France near Geneve border, even more in French culture the hyphen is also used , for example Dominic Strauss-Kahn, and this last name that I chose was no coincidence, in many decades only the rich and powerful traditional families put the surname of the mother's family in newborn babies. In Argentina the working class and the advance of left-wing political parties and feminist groups asked that the mother's surname to be incorporated so that this is not a right only for the rich. Equality
Usually it is not ...unless they are french, or quebecoi, brazilians, or english. Sometimes when the kid has 3 surnames, it is in spanish it is. Modern families, assembled families.
In Italy is different , the family names come together....for instance long italian surnames.... "Grandinetti" it is the union of both "Grande or Grandi" and "Netti"
enough etymology, what about this goalie Lynch-Sŕnchez? any info?
I'm confused..why has he a double barreled surname?
He doesn't. It's just standard Spanish naming convention (father is Lynch and mother is Sanchez). I don't know why the Spanish speaker is getting that wrong is all
Who is he ?
I assume Connolly and Molumby can have a word in Spanish ~ Pour Favour !
Given the name no harm having a word to inquire about eligibility. Looked confident in Sunday’s match, only beaten by a deflected shot (not his fault). Very good distribution — immediately looked to release teammates quickly with accurate throws and kicks after retrieving the ball (before and after the red card, easy to look good afterward obviously).
To be fair to the FAI, they've been decent in recent years about approaching eligible players to declare - Christie wasn't mentioned here before his first call up, neither was Harness before he declared - so I'd imagine they're at least aware of Lynch-Sanchez, if they haven't spoken to him already
If he makes a mistake do the crowd shout Lynch-Sanchez ?
Anybody know if this Calum Scanlon lad has an Irish link? Highly rated 15 year old who Liverpool are buying from Birmingham.
